As the reviewer can be as biased as any other PES fan. (I,ve even posted a video review, to prove this)

I will agree that PES has the more realistic shooting system, but as far as gameplay goes and the way that REAL football looks and performs, i personaly think that Fifa has it beaten. (even with it,s flaws)
You can justify this by playing fifa, then watching a football match on tv.
Theres something about PES,s player animations and the way that the game actualy plays, that just doesn,t look right imo.

I`m a big believer in websites ratings...they come from people, fans like us..

I really don`t know how can FIFA be better than PES/WE..

Let me explain to you what a good realistic gameplay means:

FIFA : Most of the gameplay is scripted.. therefore it gives you a limit on how you can play the game... the CPU helps you out when you get in the trouble. The only scripted scene I realised in PES/WE is when the oponent is doing a counter attack and when you have a few defenders left they actually make the clearence and get rid of the ball very quickly - someting that bothers me and Konami should definetly fix that..but FIFA is scripted all the way... the passing I mean the ball is just dead it doesn`t have any feeling to itself..

In FIFA 05 I played in highest level possible and still can score a goal from 35 meters or longer.. is that realistic...

I played with Spurs vs Chelsea and defeated them 7 - 1 ?? is that a realism...most goals came from high shot range...

Look at the way goals are designed.. they look more like hockey goals - with those metal nets without any animation to it.. and you call this realistic ??

Then, we have the players that look like cartoon characters (WE/PES has already defeated FIFA 04/05' in terms of the graphics numerous times.) Players in FIFA don`t have any lifelike reactions.. or special animations.. while in PES/WE:

You can see the facial expresion when you score a goal, when you miss a goal, when you get injured, when you get an unfair referee call and so on... what do you see in FIFA ??

Then we have the substitute cut scenes ..then when the player gets injured he returns to the field which is also a cut scene.. THIS I CALL THE REAL REALISM...

Then players get called up for their national team duties and so on...


Whenever I score a goal in FIFA I don`t feel any excitement like I do in PES/WE..

The only thing FIFA has going on for itself is the licenses..other than that it`s a total garbage of a game..

You guys are really good in video games. How many hours in a day do you spend playing video games? Do your eyes tire and do your hands get cramp?

I salute you for being able to beat world class by 7-0 numerous times whilst I suck in pro mode. Would you like to share with us some tips in beating world class by such a high score.

Yeah, me too. They should do a thread on the Tips & Tricks page.

It,s obvious that these guys have Skills, if they can just play Fifa a couple of times and beat the Cpu 7-0 on WC.

I,ve had the game since xmas and the most i,ve managed to score on Pro level is 3 goals, and that doesn,t happen too often, especially against the 4.5 - 5 star Teams.
It,s usually just 1 or 2 , But the best i can manage on WC, is a 1-1 draw...

The funny thing is that it doesn,t matter what forum you read, regarding PES v FIFA, theres always at least one PES FanBoy that reckons they have beaten the Fifa cpu 7-0 on WC. ( always 7-0 for some reason )
And they usually were only playing 2 minute halves, as well...
This is one hell of an Achievement, as the most i think i,ve scored on Semi-Pro is 5 goals, playing 4 minute halves...

I believe the reason why PES/WE fans do well playing FIFA is mainly because we use skills and we try to play the way PES/WE is played, you know what I mean...

PES/WE requires way more skills ..freekicks for example...

Here we go again...

Why are you PES Kids unable to write a Mature post. ( Oops, that says it all really ) KIDS!..
"PES takes more skills"... In that case diggi, why have i read a post of yours today, with you masterbating about " The Best goal Ever "...
That you had scored in a so called 6 star match , where you said that you were already 3-0 up in the game. ( Doesn,t seem that much of a challenge to me )
Especially when i know that it,s tough to keep possession, let alone score, in Fifa,s Pro level. Without even mentioning WC...

You also seem to forget that i,ve actually got the PES4 Demo on my PC , also keeping in mind that i,m terrible at playing footy games using a keyboard. ( eye & hand co-ordination, i think )
Anyway, the other day after managing to win on 3 & 4 Stars... I ended up playing a total of 6 games on 5 Star ( equivellent of 3 full matches 5 min halves).
The Cpu only managed to score 2 goals past me, and had about 6 shots either way off target or straight in my keepers hands.
One of the goals wasn,t even over the line ( after checking replay in every imaginable angle ) in one match, after i was winning 1-0
the keeper did actually save the shot , for the match to end 1-1. Cheating b*****ds...

I will admit that the matches on 5 star were pretty full on, quick pased and i never managed to win a game but i could comfortably hold it to
0-0 draws, as well as get the odd shot at goal myself.
I will also tell you that it took the 5 star Cpu up untill the fourth game to finally score past me. ( Pretty Lame )
But the next time i play on my mates xbox, i think i,ll have a full game against it using a controller.

Getting back to my point... After getting used to the controls slightly better, i wouldn,t say that PES,s 5 star is that much of a challenge, from what i,ve played of the demo. I find Fifa,s Pro level is tougher tbh...
Which then brings back the question of, if you,ve really played fifa ? or at WC level , let alone beat it 7-0 ...

I don't feel that PES/WE requires more "skills" than FIFA. Both games are similar actually, however they have their differences and gameplay is a little bit different.
Still, if one knows how to play one, he should do ok with the other. Probably not feeling comfortable with the other game, but still should be able to play competently.

I did not feel comfortable with PES after FIFA, but after 2 weeks of playing - it is getting better.
It is not a bad game, but has enough of its frustrating moments.
I particularly hate the "AI revenge" mode, when AI picks up its game after it is losing - and picks up it to such degree that I find myself just watching and laughing - because there isn't much that I can you - only push buttons franticaly and pray for the best...
I would be very glad if there was an option to slow the game down.

Also, like I mentioned before - camera angles are poor - should be more customisable - I find that "Wide" camera makes players too small, while all other angles - too close.

I find that PES/WE is scripted no less than FIFA. In FIFA at least I can feel certain "fairness" - because most of the time I know why I missed the shot. But in PES/WE - I do not. It seems that computer decides by itself when it will let me score and when not.

Also - penalty kicks stink - the player just shoots by himself - before I tell him. Should not do that.

Regarding graphics - I guess it is what one gets used to. In the beginning PES/WE graphics seems extremely ugly to me after FIFA. Now it is not so bad, but I would not call them "beautiful" or "perfect", far from that.
While animations are worse than FIFA's.
Sounds are much worse.

Some of us like PES/WE better than FIFA, and some of US like FIFA better than PES/WE. We have PES/WE fans and then we have FIFA fans, that is all ok..after all we all are entitled to our opinions which should be respected.

Now I remember this interview that was done in 2003 with Danny Isaac (the general producer and CEO of FIFA) where he says that he and his staff don`t plan on building a new gameplay engine that will match up the one Konami & Seabass created. Then he tells you how FIFA SOCCER is more designed in a arcady mode and to have fun + to entertain yourself while PES/WE gameplay is more lifelike and it is certanly designed for mature people. At the end he tells us that people should be happy for having a two great football games to choose from.. You have a good entertaining FIFA with arcady flavor and you have the best sim football games that are PES/WE.

I will search for this interview it has more to it but after all the man who is a designer for FIFA said it all.

in my opinion - you can compare much easier by just playing it for a while, than by collecting all kinds of crap from all over the internet - the rewievs, the interviews and similar sh*t.

I have both games and play them both.
While some people seem to be unable to do that. They need to make a religion of one game and dismiss the other.
Strange that....

And the irony is that the lates editions of those games are quite similar.
Not the same, of course, but similar.

And neither of those are so good as to not need improvements. On the contrary - they both would benefit from numerous improvements.

Siena - I more enjoy playing International Superstar Soccer 64' and 98' on my Nintendo 64 then playing FIFA on my PS2 or XBOX.

FIFA did have alot of chances from me but year after year I play the same game without ANY improvements. FIFA needs the new gameplay engine that will match up to PES/WE then it just might OWN PES/WE.

well, I am not here to advertise or promote FIFA, because I do not consider it a very great game either. But it is not that different from PES/WE really.
Differences are much smaller than similarities.
Of course I am talking about the 2005 FIFA.

Whatever you play is your business, but it is difficult to compare the two games without actually trying them out, I think. And trying them out well.

So what is the sense to participate in this "PES vs FIFA" forum if somebody plays one game only?

I don,t think it was a case of me calming down, but more of a case of you growing up.

I honestly can,t see why you can complain , when you have been intentionaly putting up post replies which you knew would probably get that kind of reaction.
As far as the bit about being entitled to opinions... Yes i know, and i,ve already stated it, in about 2 of my previous replies to you.

I have no problem with you or any other PES fan for liking the game more than Fifa.
I like PES myself, and i think it,s a very good game.
But i just don,t think that it,s as good as all of the fans & review scores, makes it out to be.

To me, PES4 is more of a really good football game, than a simulation.
I,m not saying that Fifa is a better game or simulation, because at the moment Fifa05 is far from it . ( close but no way close enough )

But if you were to play a video sequence of both PES & Fifas gameplay to the general non gaming public.
And asked which one looked more like the Real thing ...
I think we both know which one would most likely come out with the most votes.

Which does,nt really bother me tbh, as both games have their strengths & weaknesses. ( yes both )
They also both compliment each other, in the way that each would like a part of what the other has got.

So lets just let it drop, and enjoy our footy gaming.
But the advice i will give you, is Not to go off game review scores, but read the reviews them selves. As they can often tell a different story.
Better still, just hire the game out and make up your own mind.

ok so in real life soccer is about luck, that was a poor way of stating that one game is more realistic, come on dude, im a pretty lucky guy but does that mean i stand a chance of scoring on "king kahn", hell no it doesnt, luck has nothing to do with soccer, we are talking about a sport that anyone who plays or watches can tell you that it is all about skill and nothing else. you also call fifa scripted, well you nulled your own argument right there, if FIFA is so much more scripted than PES, explain how you could be so good at FIFA since as you said its restricting? if its so restricting then you are not using skills, I play both FIFA and PES, I can say that when I come from playing PES I dont pick up FIFA and all of a sudden have mad skills at it, i still play the same. oh and BTW do you call swinging your arms and legs back and forth in perfect synchronization like in PES realistic?

Just called my local videostore that is Blockbuster and wanted to see something ..here the log:

ME: Hi there, do you guys have FIFA SOCCER 2005 for rent.

The guy who works for BB says: I`m not sure let me check... then again he tells me something that I didn`t understand and hung up on me..so I drove down to the store and asked him if they have FIFA SOCCER 2005 for rent and he tells me no. Then I asked him which one does he think its better WE8I-USA or FIFA SOCCER 2005 (he tells me "dude are you on crack, of course winning eleven is better" then I asked why: he told me because of its lifelike realistic gameplay and graphics" and I told him oh well...and went home happy...I played with his mind obviously he didn`t know that I`m a big PES/WE guru and the person that doenst even know me tells me that WE is better than FIFA..

The real shock: he`s an American people that don`t know alot of stuff about soccer but somehow still can figure out which one is legitimate..
