Just finished my first season. Placed 6th. Came on strong in the final games, but drew my last 3 matches instead of winning which i had the opportunity to do.
Now i just beat Villa in the Quarters of the Tiny Cup and in the Semis now. Lots of cash to be won, and i definitely want as much as i can get to improve my squad for next seasons promotion run.

Wow. The Masters League is harsh! I drew my first game with Auston Villa 0-0 (though in reality I got my @ss kicked) and lost 300 odd points! Geez, if you lose that much for tying...what do you lose for losing?

Some great stories guys, keep 'em coming. It's always interesting to hear how my fellow PES/WE fans are getting along.

Anyway, I've played a fair few games in div2 ML on Extreme now. Just a quick note autosave is not an option on Extreme it is compulsory, ie. the game does not give you the option of turning it off. Not that that's important but it might save someone a bit of trouble trying to turn it off.

As I was saying, I'm in my 3rd season in total and my 1st season in div2. I can't quite remember my record but have just been completely torn apart by Barcelona 4-1, and it should have been more. I think I need to change my formation because my defense is starting to look as holey as swiss cheese, or maybe it's just because I've got a load of new players because my old one's weren't up to scratch hence they have a poor teamwork rating at the moment. This is an important attribute.

My record is something like 4-8-4 (or something near that). I'm not in the drop zone but I'm close. I started the league with 2 wins and a draw and was knocked out of the cup in the second round.

Coming off the back of my cup defeat I had a game against Madrid, which I managed to get a good equaliser in the final moments of the game. The I followed this up with a game against Milan which ended 2-2 after being 2 down. A 74th minute goal by Sesar (he is a good defender), which was a smashed low drive into the corner from outside the area, and a 87th minute diving header from Sheringham.

I've had some real :f***: moments. I was in a match against West Ham, leading 1-0 and looking for a 2nd in the 2nd half. Mpenza managed to get passed his marker and deliver a snap shot which came back off the post straight into the path of Zamorano. Surely 2-0. Nope, Zamorano, standing on the 6yrd line on the left side of the goal blasted the ball straight into the same post Mpenza had hit, and it bounced clear. Later on, in loss time, Tadilov is making his way towards my goal from the edge of the box, but Joel Reyes is goal side of him sherpherding him away from goal and on his weaker foot. No danger I'm thinking. Tadilov takes a shot to nothing in the last moment and my goalie (Ivanov) fumbles the ball into his own net at the near post.

Ivanov has done that too many times this season, costing us many a point in the process. So I decide he has to go. I buy the Columbian goalie who is solid but is still getting used to the team.

My team is now:

----------------------Oscal Corboda-----------------------

------------------Sesar-----------Joel Reyes--------------
---Valery------------------------------------Quanquina---

----------------------------------Cellini----------------------
-------------------Doni---------------------------------------
---Castello---------------------------------Babangida----

--------------------------------Mpenza----------------------
-----------------Zamorano----------------------------------

which is on the verge of becoming:

----------------------------OC--------------------------------

-----------------Sesar-------------J Reyes-----------------
---Valery-------------------------------------Quanquina---

---------------------------Cellini-----------------------------

-------Castello----------------------------Babangida-----
--------------------------Doni--------------------------------
------------------------------------Mpenza------------------
---------------Zamorano------------------------------------

Well I finished my first season on Normal with Roma at 0W 6D 8L. I bought Keller, Pelizzoli, Zago, Aldair, Tomassi, Donovan and Cassano so far. I lost in the first round of the tiny cup to Aston Villa 1-0. They scored in the 89th minute. I scheduled pre-season games against Ajax, Aston Villa, Newcastle and West Ham. I only have about 800 points or so. I need to win these pre-season games and get some good results or my season will be over and I will have to start again. I will let you know the 2nd season goes.

A question: if you continue to lose do you just run out of points and have to start again? In which case unless I improve a lot I'm gonna be living in div 3 for a long time, lol!

Oh well. Just about to go into my second game.

Yes if you continue to lose you will eventually run out of points depending on how much you are paying in salaries every game. Right now I have about 800 or so points so I need some wins or draws soon too.

Things are looking up. Currently I am in my 2nd season in Div 3 with Arsenal. I created my self in the offseason with the highest attributes and I cost 800 points! I managed to acquire Kanoute, Parlour and Keown to strengthen the squad and here's what happened. Lost the first game 1-0 and drew 0-0 in the second. Before the 3rd game the computer warned if I lose this game my game is over. I took the risk and went for it. I found myself 2-0 down to 'Valdai' with 70 minutes gone, game over apparently. Then out of nowhere 'I' (my created player) lived up to his billing and banged home four goals in 15 minutes! A legendary performance! Since then I've gone on to win the next three, 4-2,1-0 and 4-1 with myself knocking home all of them. Amazing what one great player can do. Hopefully I don't get injured and I can get out of the lower rungs.

hahah maestro... lol. that sucks

do buying goalies to replace ur default golie players actually help? if the other team has an open shot from 3 ft inside the pk box, will then new goalie actually be able to get a glove on it, or should i build up my field players than my goalie?

IMO yes buying golies helps. I bought Keller and Pelizolli for my ML team. I have always started with buying a keeper but that is just me.

This is brutal. If my general lack of still wasn't bad enough, my team is by FAR the worst in its division. How did those other teams get so stacked (OK, they're no like Div. 1 teams, but they have much better players than I do)?

That's becasue every other team except for yours starts off with their real squad whereas you always start off with a bunch of mickey mouse players and have to build your squad. Most of my players aren't good enough to tie the shoe laces of some of the players they're playing against which is why I'm constantly calling them names and selling them at every given opportunity!

Seriously though, when you get to build up a good squad you'll compete just fine.

Do you only get Points if you win games? 'Cause if that's the case...er...can you go bankrupt? :(

BTW, frustration aside, it is pretty funny to watch these players. I remember I made a nice long pass to a winger who had no-one within about 15-20 yards of him...it took him about 10 yards to get the ball under control (by which time the oposing player was able to strip the ball). He looked so funny running around, legs flailing, trying to trap the ball :D

On my ML with Arsenal on normal level, I have been doing pretty well: First season finished second in Div. 3, lost in the finals of the Tiny Cup, and finished second in the promotion/relegation group (for those who haven't found out yet, the top two of Div. 3 and bottom two of Div. 2 are put into a group where you play each team once and the top two teams are promoted (or stay in) to Div. 2)

I've got about 8000 points right now in the second season. I'm currently in third place in Div. 2 after 6 games. Also, I have advanced to the quarterfinals of the Master Cup.

My squad (formation: 4-4-2 diamond)

GK - Van der Sar
DL - Sorin
DC - Campbell (outstanding defender and leads my team in scoring this season so far, believe it or not)
DC - Taribo West
DR - Lauren
DMC - Vieira
ML - Ljungberg
AMC - Deisler
MR - Pires
FC - Robbie Keane
FC - Henry

On the bench I have only two non-default players: Eto'o and Kanu.

I struggled miserably at the beginning of the first season with the default players and even about halfway through the year I was hovering in 5th or 6th. But, I went on a 6 or 7 game run and finished a point behind Ajax.

My best suggestion on how to transform your team into being able to compete much better in Div. 3 is that you need to buy several of your team's players back from free (if they don't come the first offer, offer the next week and usually they do), don't make any transfers for players not on free, and probably more important than anything is that you get a great striker. Once I got Henry, I was able to win games with a lot more ease.

Yep, you can go bankrupt and that's when it's Game Over.

You're right about it being funny watching your default players trying to control a bouncing ball as long as you can push aside the frustration. What really annoys you at the time though is when you are sprinting your player to reach the ball and with his first touch he miscontrols it by yards and it goes out of play. Funny though.

Question (I don't have the manual at hand):
Do you gain less points for wins at higher levels of difficulty?

i j have one question >

When you buy new players and change the teams in ML, does it necessarily mess up the real squad in cup modes?

It doesn't mess with the real squad in cup modes. You're safe to pick whatever team you want.

Florentia Viola is still struggling in division 3.

My Current 1st team Line-up is:

-------------------------
Oscar Cordoba

Popescu - Garama - Song

Cellini

Babangida - Maradona - Miranda - Denilson

Olisadabe - Baraja

-------------------------

We finished our 1st season in 4th place and have started our second season 2-1-1.

I am still having a lot of trouble scoring anything but Counter attacking runs from the midfield and the occasional lucky long ball.

Something like 99% of all my 'well thought out' build-ups end up in a blocked or missed shot.

I am down to about 2,000 points and starting to get nervous that our team is going to run out of funds in the next 2 seasons if we can't start getting some solid wins.

Fan Morale is getting low... It is one thing to see AC Fiorentina disbanded, but to have that followed by the quick demise of Florentia Viola could convince Florence that maybe it is time to focus on other international sports like Profesional Wrestling.

The fight continues....
