People hate Man United because they have millions of glory hunting supporters around the world. There are people who claim to "love" Man U who don't even know who George Best is. These are the fans who if Man U went bankrupt tomorrow, got relegated two seasons in a row, would be wearing Barcelona or Bayern Munich shirts, or whoever is "the best."

Someone in this forum said something stupid like "Who has ever heard of Leeds?" You can't claim to know anything about English or European footie if you've never heard of Leeds-- they've won European trophies and won the League in 1992. Pardon the cliche, but Leeds are one of the pillars of the game in England with a long and illustrious history (I am not a Leeds supporter). They are also on top now.

My point is, Man U are like the Dallas Cowboys. They attract a lot of fans who know nothing about the sport but say they love the team. Again, there are legitimate supports of Man U, but there are more annoying, poser, wannabes who do not know Brian McClair or Mark Hughes, never mind Busby or Best.
