Well, Konami have done it. They are releasing International Superstar Soccer 3 for the PC on March 23rd. Although not as good as the PES series it is still a big improvement over FIFA 2003 in terms of gameplay. I have played it on the Playstation One and the gameplay just feels a lot better than FIFA 2003. The graphics (at least on the PS1 version) are obviously nowhere near a good as FIFA 2003 and I don't think any soccer game will touch EA for graphics, that's their strong point.
Still, you have to admit, being able to head the ball when you want to, ie. when you are alone and at corners to get a header on goal more than once every 5 games or so, is gonna be great. This is what we need to give EA a HUGE kick up the ass. Even if you don't like ISS3 it's gonna put pressure on EA to step up and improve FIFA 2004 becasue if ISS3 has any kind of success on the PC they'll follow it up with the PES series. At the end of the day they're business men and if they sell a truckload of ISS3 they're gonna do what's best for the company and the contract with Sony doesn't prevent them from releasing PES to PC format.
This is good news for FIFA fans as much as for followers of the Konami series because EA have got to look over their shoulder at last in their last stronghold, the PC, and Konami have given us non-console owners an opportunity to play a great soccer game on the PC.
