I'd vote in Ballack or Zidane...
Zidane is great atacking, the best... but in defensive terms he's not really good, that's why i doubt about ballack or him.

Z.Zidane simply the best!!! Deco is also good even better in defensive terms, but ZIZOU is #1.

As i said before i put Deco and not rui Costa because i consider Deco more complete than Rui Costa, they are similar in the atacking skills (driblling, flair, shooting, passing) but Deco defend a lot better than Rui Costa.

Another amazing player (Beckam) and i will tell you the reason for not being in this poll.

By complete i mean a midfielder that can play as well in defense and in ofense. If you look at the players listed you´ll notice that every single one of them has good ofense and defense capabilities and overall balance in the two aspects of the game, the exception is Zizou (he doesn´t defend well) but as i said earlier if i didn´t put him on this poll it would seem a bit empty because he is one of a kind.

This is also true for Rui Costa, wonderful and skillful player with great ofense capabilities, in fact in another thread about the starting eleven for Portuguese national in Euro 2004 i put him instead of Deco, but in terms of balanced midfielder i think that Deco has what it takes, he runs all the field up and down he can tackle in Defense take the ball to the opposite area driblling past two defenders and then make a killer pass or unleash a cannonball into the net.

Hmm who wants to play in Germany? Take a look at the squads of Bayern Munich or Dortmund.

Zidane the most complete midfielder? Zidane's attack minded, he's not really an all around midfielder.

IMO only attackive DMs can really fill the criteria of "all around" midfielders so I would say either Vieira or Davids as the best all around/complete midifelders

Umm I agree you have a few good players, Makkay, Ze Roberto, Lucio, Rosicky. But that isnt enough if you want to compare league for league player for player, the premiership has a better variety, fact.

And, BALLACK (lol) is in the poll for the most complete midfielder in the world, Gerrard is not. In my opinion Gerrard is better and I think Ballack is hardly criticised because he is seen as a 'big' german player, so people respect that, but if you actually watch him play, he is no better than any of England's midfielders, hmm anything else you'd like to comment on

well for me zidane is a great player, but for me he is not the overall most complete player, a complete player can be someone who works hard to retrieve the ball aswell as ocherstrate attacks.

The only players who do this imo is viera and nedved, although viera doesnt score as much as he should, he is very good on the ball in an attacking sense, can dribble, better than or as well as the players on that list but can tackle and track back too. IMO he is also a lot more effective than zidane.

Im sure we will find out when arsenal play real madrid.
