Will Sweden win the World Cup

They absolutely can, but I don't think they will. I can see them knocking out England though, thanks to some outrageous play by Zlatan.

I really don't think that any team from Asia like Korea will be winning the World Cup any time soon. I'm saying this based on the mentality of Asian people which I see since I live in a multicultural Canadian city. Heck, parts of my family are from Pakistan. People in Asia aren't exactly Sportfreunde (Friends of sport). They only like one sport, whether it's cricket or soccer. They're not intrested enough in sports and I noticed that all the Oriental Asian kids I see in Windsor are math nerds who hate sports. I don't mean to offend Asian people by saying this (I do have some Asian blood like I said before) but that's just how it is right now.

You mean those Oriental Asian kids in Windsor don't play badminton? I'm shocked!!

agreed. but i have to say that canadians don't know **** about soccer, since they only enjoy hockey. so i suggest you not post on this board and go visit a hockey site. also, canadians are dumb and very naive. it's true! i'm not trying to be racist.

oh, btw don't get me started on paki's. you're paki right? how do you like driving cabs? fun?

(isnt it great to live in such a culturally informed and enlightened society?)

lol wtf.

Sweden are one of the best sides in Scandinavians. If Denmark can win the EURO 1992, why not Sweden...

But, they have lack of confidence in the field.

What are you foss loopy? I'm not paki, my cousins though are from their though. Anyways, you sound like someone from Texas who's out of touch with reality.

Back to Sweden though, a good athletic nation and the World Cup can be won. Although you're right Vince, it'll be diffirent after the Beijing olympics-hopefully they'll improve. I was reading an article in Sports Illustrated about how Russia and China's olympic programs have teamed up and the real reason for that is to prevent the US from winning the most medals.

It's possible but the odds are against them.

IMO the teams with the highest chances of winning it are:
1) Brazil
2) Czech Republic
3) Portugal
in that order

The Czechs are damn overrated. They play some nice game here and there and then they f*ck it up when it matters. Doesn't help either that their only superstar will be close to 34.

Here's my order:
1) Brazil (no doubt)
2) Holland (finally have the right coach, always good with massive fan support on German ground)
3) England (for the first time they have the individual class to go far)

very agree, if not england to win i would like to see holland win it, but its doubtful because they always find a way to f*ck up and waste all that talent that they possess. They are very deadly. And Brazil, well its brazil.

you tell me the Czechs are overrated then you put Holland and England as your number 2 and 3 favorites to win the tourney...

No one puts England as the favourites to win the WC (except for themselves) so I don't see how they're overrated. They have a team with a realistic shot to win it. Same for the Dutchies who needed some kind of a mentality change.

I think Germany is gonna take this one in front of the home crowd

Fan Favourite
1 $5.00 Brazil
2 $6.50 Argentina
3 $8.00 Germany
4 $8.00 England
5 $10.00 Italy
6 $12.00 Holland
7 $15.00 France
8 $14.00 Spain
9 $20.00 Portugal
10 $20.00 Czech Republic

These are the top ten ratings given by my local betting agency based on the return for a $1 bet. I think that of these, Germany, Italy and Holland look like good investments - I will probably place some money on each, and a bit on brazil to cover my bases so i don't lose anything should they win it (again).

Starting XI
2006 - ?
2002 - Brazil
1998 - France (Host)
1994 - Brazil
1990 - Germany
1986 - Argentina
1982 - Italy
1978 - Argentina
1974 - Germany
1970 - Brazil
1966 - England (host)
1962 - Brazil
1958 - Brazil

1962 + 2002 = 3964
1966 + 1998 = 3964
1970 + 1994 = 3964
1974 + 1990 = 3964
1978 + 1986 = 3964
3964 - 2006 = 1958....

Ok, enough with the crap... Sweden can win it... they have a decent team and I can't see why they can't...
Sure Brazil, Argentina, Italy, Germany all have more chances imho, but still... Barça, Madrid, Chelsea, Milan, Juve all had more chances than Pool...

What do past results have to do with the team they have NOW?
Everything. There's a reason teams like Germany and Brazil are favored. It's just not based on the quality they posses but also what they have done in the past.

Vince, Nedved retired from the national team.

What are the odds on Ivory Coast? Could be the bet of the century, long shot, but they look special.
