The Asian countries combine for over 50% of the world population.

And? Quality over quantity. The 6th team from Africa is likely to be on par with the First from Asia. And before anyone mentions South Korea reaching Semi´s, anyone who watched the Cup and has half a brain will agree that they were practically carried there by the Refs.

Limberopoulos21 said:
I also think it's fair for australia, they have no competiton where they are, and they should play a team of some caliber to qualify, which is almost always Uruguay.

Not really... the Uruguay bit I mean. We´ve only played Australia for the WCQ´s last time through. Before us it was Scotland, Argentina and Iran.

All the teams in South America have a pretty fair shot of making it to the World Cup. I just wanted to clarify that, because a lot of people seem to be under the impression that South American teams always finish in the same positions in Qualifiers. Last time around, Brazil finished 3rd, and that was only because Paraguay let themselves be arse raped by Colombia in the last game.

It's called the fvcking WORLD CUP so why not involve countries all over the world? :ewan:

The WCQ´s are part of the World Cup, that bit with the 32 teams from each continent are only the Finals.

But we´ve had this arguements before... several times...

-Vince- said:
Europe has 8 World Cups wow what a difference

And there are really not more than two good South American teams compared to how many European teams that can win the title? 10?

You're a douche.

And just how many of them have won it? Four...

And of those four, how many have won it more than once, without being hosts? Two...

What´s my point you´re asking? I´m not really sure, but your post didn´t make a whole lot of sense to me either. What exactly was your point? That we should just have the Finals played between those 12 teams or something?

-Vince- said:
That's because some nations have made a big step forward in the past years.

The same statement is true for South America... actually, the same statement is valid for practically all the Continents.

Yet despite the improvements in the playing styles of several nations, the same teams are always actually reaching the final (1982 - Italy and Germany 1986 - Argentina and Germany, 1990 - Germany and Argentina, 1994 - Brazil and Italy, 1998 - France and Brazil, 2002 - Brazil and Germany...)

Conclusion - The World Cup should be played only between Germany, Brazil, Italy and Argentina.

Why is it that every American thinks Deutschland translates to Holland. :kader: Educate yourself before you speak.

If we said that to every half wit that writes Colombia with an U and Uruguay with two A´s, two thirds of the Forum would need to course school again.

LOL, yea he's Russian.

Other then Sheva, Voronin, and Biletsky, all our players play in Ukraine, and in ChampionsLeague contending teams, like Dynamo Kiev, and Shakhtar Donetsk. There is no lack of quality here.
who is this Biletsky? do you mean Maksim Beletsky? a FC Moskva player? i doubt he even plays for his national team. both Dynamo and Shakhtar are full of foreigners, there are only three players from Shakhtar in the Ukranian team: Timoschyuk, Belik and Vorobey.
and SurFy, who the heck is Sobis?

There's a SLIGHT differnce in making a grammatical error and getting geography and common knowledge wrong.

Well according to this it's Biletsky, and yes he does play for FC Moskva. He was only used as a callup though. We have 4 players from Dynamo and 3 from Shakhtar. That's a fair number I would say.

That's true, but then, what's common knowledge in some places isn't in others.

And I don't think a lack of geographical knowledge had anything to do with it either. I find it more likely that his error came from Vince having his location written in German, and William figuring Deutschland was Dutch for Netherlands. It's probably a pretty common mistake for non-native English speakers.

It was a pretty ugly mistake though, especially since he was using it to brush off Vince's argument.

and William figuring Deutschland was Dutch for Netherlands

Is he going to call Austria the land of the socceroos as for the Australia? Tell William to fvcking pass his Geography class than get fancy with names.

Pretty off topic, but it's quite common to see Deutschland as Holland in Brazil, at least... sad, I know... I used to follow German footie on TV, way back in the early 90s to see Jorginho playing for Bayern... and that was when I got to know Deutschland = Germany...
I've seen the mistake in a movie too, Rollerball... there was this player, I can't remember the name... it was written on the screen: Origin = Deutschland, and the people making the brazilian version said the player came from Holland... damn, they even had the German flag next to the name!

In the US most Germans were called dutch (deutsch,"German," was misunderstood as "Dutch") in the 19th and 20th century. meh who cares.

Not really, mate. I've never seen someone making such a mistake. Maybe it's because here in the South we're more used to german and italian stuff.

The average American these days is **** at geography and knowing the proper names for various people around the world. Keep watching football around the world and you'll get better. (H)

What's this obsession with Sheva at a World Cup? Some people are born in ****holes, let's get over it.

I'm not obsessed. I have more neutral opinions to any players that represent their countries.

Mexico can qualify on Aug 17, USA can qualify the match after that.

As if there was any question, but it would be official then.

Uzbekistan & Bahrain are in a play off soon [One of them will play the 4th spot from CONCACAF later on in the final WC spot]. Both teams have the sloppy defence.

I think the latest 4 Asian countries (Japan, Iran, Korea Republic & Saudi Arabia) have more determined & balance teams in Asian region. I hope the 4th placed Concacaf would qualify to the WC finals instead of Bahrain/Uzbekistan.

if Uzbekistan is at the same level as Kazakhstan is very weak to be in a WC.
actually, team Uzbekistan mainly consists of Russians just like team Kazakhstan, some of them were born in Uzbekistan though. for example, Safonov, Polyakov, Fedorov, Maminov, Pashinin, Koshelev, Shishelov, Geinrih, Shirshov, Nikolaev are Russians. but Uzbekistan players play for the Russian Premier-liga clubs, so they are much more experienced, unlike their Kazakh neighbours, which play in Kazakh league.

Nope...they waaaay better than Kazakhstan. I guess Bonzi summed it perfectly up there. Kazakhstan used to struggle in the Asian qualifiers as well. They only got into UEFA for the money.

Belarus losing 2-0 to Moldova! Wow :kader: :kader: :kader: . Every time they start strong and then finish off playing worst than anybody in the group. Expect a whooping from the italians on Wednesday and FSW Canada will show it too.
