BTW for me Luca Toni was MoM. Shame he didn't get to score... but he will do several times in games to come for sure.

Appiah or Essien for MoM

Eh...? Pirlo MoM; and Italy put in a refreshing display, considering their past few tournaments, promising indeed (I'm feeling trouble ahead at round of 16 *sigh*).

That penalty not given at least looked like a penalty; however Kuffour should be sent off at thattakle, even if Iaquinta dived; and even more because play had already stopped (thus the tackle was absolutely unnecessary...). Well, perhaps it would be bettter had he got the card :fool: .

That point was not that Iaquinta dived. He did not, he was brought down illegally and Kuffour should have been booked (It's hard to say give him a red since play was technically stopped). The point is that he faked an injury. Injuries are very serious, and when you fake one it makes people question every legitimate injury. I rolled my eyes today when Koller fell down and when Totti had his leg stepped on because I thought they were acting. And I'm sure because jerks like Iaquinta are so common, the medics who come on to the field take their job a little less serious. If 50% of the time you have to tend to a player he isn't hurt, you're going to doubt guys that are actually hurt.

Pirlo or Cannavaro for MOM imo.. good game from the azzuri's lots of chances and I enjoyed it.. too many misses from certain chances (gilardino, perotta). I'd think that with Del Piero we can see an even better Italy.

Ha, I put it wrongly actually, but I agree fully on Iaquinta's part - I actually thought he broke his leg or something at first (people do get worried after Smith, Totti, Cissé...). As for the red card, it would seem quite viable - In a Palmeiras - São Paulo recently a player from Palmeiras got a red card after a final whistle for screaming like a maniac to the ref. The folks from Ghana would not be that happy with Simon anyway...

BTW, gotta mention too that crossbar hit by Toni, that was class.

Italy totally deserved this win...they were alot better team and Iaquinta is Da Boss...Forza Udinese

Group stage isn't over yet.

Whose to say the U.S doesn't pull an upset with a win over Italy on Saturday? No one knows.

It's too early to make a prediction like that.

Essien was exceptional today. (Y)

He was a tank, clearly the best player on the pitch. Too bad he doesn't have much around him.

Pirlo was great too for Italy

Essien is class. I swear, all Ghana needs is an experienced striker - someone like Ballack or something. Then they'd be dangerous.

Wish I could find the picture from todays game, but Kuffour was nearly in the exact same position today as he was back in '99 at the hands of Man U.. :nape:
