Good! Boca needs to be in more games. I hate that some stupid teams from NowhereLandia are in Fifa but no Boca... No River... it is a loss of respect.

I will buy this and not WC 2002.

Yeah Boca is in there but without Riquelme. You have to make him. You can make River Plate by editing a custom team. When you edit a player's name press select to switch between first and last names.

I rented the game...

The South American teams are only there with city names:
Buenos Aires (Boca)
Rio d jan (Vasco)
Sao Paolo
Sao Paolo (P)
And there is a team called Mexico City... but I don't know which team it is and the uniform only looks almost like Chivas

The Game play is pretty good. It is Not as realistic as ISS games but much better a free than Fifa.

The Team Creator is Great! You can make very complex and exact uniforms. When you create a team you get a list of players that you can edit or just leave.

The Stadiums are great and the game sound is pretty good. The commentary is very basic but not as annoying as Fifa and not as STOOOPID as ISS.

Shooting is horrible. It is not as scripted as FIFA but all your shots are rockets. It doesn't feel real. ISS makes you want to set up a good shot, Fifa makes you run run run run and Shoot, but WTS/TIF let you just shoot with no thought.

Special moves are pretty OK, they don't help much, except for the "knock ahead" which is very realistic... except it is the same button as sprint and so you do it not intentional if you just want a little speed.

Defense is only about Tackle. It is run, sprint, tackle, steel. If you stand in the way of a attacker they run by you. ISS does this better, and even FIFA try to move away from you.

The models and faces are good. I do agree that for the PS2 this is the best game in the US... but it won't make me stay home on Saturday and miss my real games. I want that game so I can stay home and get fat.

There is a game I saw in Mexico called Soccer America or something, does anyone know about that game? You can buy it for like $5 in la pulga in Monterrey.

I agree somewhat with what you say... but shooting is not as bad as your making it out, its far better then fifa, but you do not have that much control over power, but the shots DO NOT look ridculously fast like fifa, thet look 100% realistic and I have in many occasions drop a nice lil roller past the keeper going slow, but it is not as controlable as a ISS game, the play movements and animations are far superious to any ISS, cept maybe Pro Evo Soccer 2002, since I have never seen that here in the states.

Defense, well I disagree alot more with your comments on Defence. I have play a full season already on World Class level (2nd from the hardest) and I have been relagated BARELY :), but yeah you cat just walk in front of a guy like a ISS game (MLS extra time etc) and knock the ball away.. but the tacking is much better and the cpu uses the moves and tactics well. But when it comes to defense, isnt the point to steal the ball away before they score on yoU??? That is the point of defense, get the ball away.. WTS doe sthis just fine...and in ISS games you just walk in front of them and you get the ball, thats kinda silly too, Its not that easy to get a ball from a skilled player as just walking in front of them... I think WTS is the best blend in the states of ISS and Fifa games.. I believe its not 100% best footy game ever... but its game enjoyable. and I think defense on this is as good as MLS extra time 2001.. a ISS game. Pretty fun

emmer. WE5FE is the PES version for Japanese gamers. It was just released at the end of the year. It was tweaked and there are some improvement. Go here for more info. It is a Spanish forum about ISS and WE series. If you look carefully, there is something special. Here is the link: http://www.winningeleven.com/foro/viewforum.php?forum=18&791

BTW. Don't mention FIFA. That word is like a curse. :D

Because Sony didn't get the license for those teams. They have to name after the city. Since there numerous of teams in Sao Paulo, they used that naming convention. I think the two teams are actually Sao Paulo and Palmeiras. BTW, I prefer WE5FE. It is a much better game and the Japanese commentator is much better than the boring Terry Butcher from PES. I have a question for Gascoigne, how do you do headers in WTS 2002? I do them sometimes but I have not mastered the technique. Although I am finally learning how to defend appropriately, in terms of tackling and covering the opposition players.

I played more last night... I have to return the game so I think I will go buy it. Even with the problems I will buy it. I agree with your comments about defense some. ISS defense is pretty easy.

Heading is OK in WTS. The Auto Cross zones are better than in MLS... they are a little further out of the box than MLS. I don't think you have any control of the player in the box, but you push the shoot button and choose a direction. I think the accuracy is all about player skill. But, it is pretty bad sometimes... I have mad 50 crosses for Batistuta and he always puts the ball over the gol.

Maybe you can help me with the heading in the field. is there only one Head button?? How do you control it better?

Does anyone know who the Mexico City team is?

Is there any more news about Other games coming to the US? MLS 2002? Is there anything really different? More leagues? What engine?

What about games released in Latin America... those work on US PS2 yes?

The game is better than MLS... but MLS/ISS does feel tactically like a more real game.

Xenieze, and FusionFan, ok well heading is something you gotta get used to... but Xenieze you can Kinda move a player, but it only seems slightly, but I have had it work where I slip past a defender etc... Here are the things that matter the most when it comes to heading. Getting your head on the ball, is so realistic. Your height matters so much. I play with my fav. english team, Middlesbrough, although I got relagted barely in my first season I am lighting up the 1st division.. I have Benito Carbone and Alen Boksic as my forwards.. but crossing to benito not my ideal selection, it is SO hard for him to get his head to the ball unless he is free and uncovered... Cause is only like 5'5 or 5'6" and most defenders are bigger then that, so he is at disadvantage.. So hieght matters. When I cross to Boksic I have much success since he is tall... but if your covered by a taller guy, you will not get as much chances at heading it.. you heading stat and accuracy matters alot, as done being covered by someone taller etc. You use (HOLD) the CIRCLE button to head shots on goal, I have scored by useing SQUARE to.. but it isnt ideal. Aiming is thing you gotta get used to. You have to aim related to how you seem to be on your screen. If your going left to right and ball is our on the left wing.. cross it into the box (remember you can swerve the crosses too by pushing left or right on the d-pad) So I'm crossing the ball into the box from the left wing, as the ball is in the air I see the keeper cheating to left side of the goal, Boksic is my right forward, so as the ball is coming down I push DOWN on the D-pad because I want to head it to the right side of the goal, being more open. Now becuase of how your covered, you cant always pic the bottom/top corner, because you may not even be able to see it, so unless your wide open you hitting it generally toward a side.. If I want to head the ball to left side, left bottom, I push UP/RIGHT on the d-pad.... Because I aiming it how I see it on the screen. Also on another note, your player will pick a header or volley like MLS or a ISS game, it depends on the cross, how covered he is etc. When it comes to getting it in the goal, accuracy and being open matters, Boksic is like 85 accuracys so although I have been knocking headers in over and around 1st divison keepers I have been missing more then I score, and I'm sure I couldnt walk all over Man-U like that... we will see of course, I face them 2nd round of the Cup. I hope that kinda helps, ask me anythign you would like to know.

When it comes to heading anywhere else on the field, use the SQUARE button. To head pass and head away from goal etc.. Be carefull to push away from goal, sometimes u will head it back on goal.

A Mexican friend was over last night and I showed him the game and the Mexico City team... He said it is NECAXA.

Which is kind of strange, becuase they aren't a very big team right now. It would make more sense to have used America or Cruz Azul.

Thanks for the heading help. I am still having fun with the game.

Thanks Gascoigne for the tip, I'll try it out. The games has been fun and I have made use of the editor. The only thing that I dislike is that there are not enough hairstyles, you cannot change player numbers or positions, and to transfer you have to use the replace player option, but its not a bid deal as long as the gameplay is good. I have a feeling this game has cheats, hopefully they will be released. Hopefully they have one that will allow you to bypass the attrribute limit on the editor. There was a previous comment referring to Panathinaikos, Panathinaikos and Olympiakos are in the game but they are called Athens and Piraeus. The real players are there. The Greek national team is also in the game.

waiting to get hands on WTS

Its been a week and I still haven't been able to get an available copy to rent! ARGH! From the hype that I have seen you guys give it, i want to play this game more and more.

Being a FIFA compatriot for years now, its been a pain since I have always longed for the true soccer experience. pretty much something better than FIFA. so yeah. I haven't played ISS or MLS or any other soccer game for that matter.

What annoys the shiznat out of me is the continual mention of those PES games that can't be played directly in the U.S. unless you pay hundreds of dollars. Why can't we just get the same game from Europe but change it so we soccer fanatics can play it over here.

Well hopefully i can get my hands on WTS soon, then hopefully get a taste of PES through MLS 2002 this coming April.
NOTE: BOCA JRS. in WTS! SWEEEEEEEEEEET!:crazyboy: its about friggin' time i see them in a game! DAYUM FIFA!

Yeah check it out, its a good game, the other option to renting, is to go to EB or Babbages and buy it but return it within seven days if you dislike it. They'll take it back even if its opened. Play the game for about five days before you form an opinion. Gascoigne, I have one more question. Sometimes when I pass to a teammate the circle around them does not light up and they pass the ball back like a give and go. I do not understand this since I press the normal pass button and I do not press LI,RI,L2 or R2 afterwards. Sometimes I'm going for goal and I pass to a player in the box and the moron instead of shooting passes it back. This only happens when the receiver does not have a circle around them. As previously noted by others, aiming is very important in this game. If you just kick it will go straight to the keeper. I took your tip for headers outside the box, I am faring much better now. Thanks

Hey guys..

Yo guys sup? This Is my first post on the board, and am glad to see other's who have WTS2002. I can't stand FIFA and what It stands for. What a rediculous game. As for ISS and WE, I am a big fan of those and would never of thought another game would compete like WTS2002. Finally a game that brings the ''European'' feel back. I love the game and everything you can do In It. The fact that handballs are called, Is so cool and beyond anything that fifa would do :). Shooting, Passing, Game build-ups are all real and a treat to watch. Even the goalies animations are awesome! People complain about the camera angles, but I think they are perfect for this game. The collision's and tackles are amazing, and watching a guy holding his after after is so cool. I know I have yet to see everything this game has to offer, that's why I keep going back for more. The CPU Is a real challange on both sides of the ball. More so then ISS and WE. But we all know that WE6 will be outstanding. I have a question for the experts on the game...How do you edit a player's last name? I can't figure it out yet. Also I have trouble picking the bottom corners of the net when i shoot. Scored my first goal between the goalies legs when he charged today, which looked and felt awesome. Gascoigne and others keep In touch, and lets help each other out.
Fusionfan, I think you are pressing the pass buttons twice instead of once, more then you would like to. That's why you are always doing give and go's by accident. I am going to go play a little more. Thanks for the tips guys!
