They've gotten less and less "heavy" over the years. There's absolutely nothing heavy about By The Way... real pussy album. Not that it was bad.
I've only heard a few of the tracks off it - they were all pretty soft and all pretty sh!t.

Wow, great list, man. I'd take out the first 3, though, and replaced Pearl Jam's No Code for Vs.
But there are many missing that should be there. Some of the most amazing albums were written between 88 and 96, which is really amazing. Back in 94 you could be listening to so many great **** that was happening at the same time...
I'll submit my list later on.
Have you listened to any Elliott Smith, Wilco or Ryan Adams. If not you should do. NOW:jambo:

I was going to put Vs. on there but thought I should only have max. of 2 albums per each band, and No Code and Vitalogy are my favourite PJ albums, followed closely by VS. and Yield and then Ten. Binaural and Riot Act are rather average IMO but still alot better than half the crap out there thesedays.

P.S - Yeah, there are so many other albums that are missing but I had to limit it.

Yes, I did. To your knowledge, I like Ryan Adams and Wilco, but to have them on any 'Best Of' comp. is too much.
But this is my opinion, I can live with our little disagreement here. :)

I tried to pick 10 must-haves from my personal collection, but they're just too many. I can mention one that I think hasn't been talked about here:

Violent Femmes - 'Violent Femmes' + 'Hallowed Ground'

On a different genre, NOFX's 'Punk In Drublic' is a great album, as is Nick Cave's 'Murder Ballads' and 'The Boatman's Call'. RATM, for their fresh style - both musically and in terms of attitude - also deserve a mention. The Clash's 'London Calling', the Pixies' 'Surfer Rosa' and 'Doolittle'... Just too many to mention. :)
