who is he best free kick shooter ?

Beckham is probaly the most deadly, he can put the ball any where he wants most of the time, and has some decent power.

Carlos is maybe the most potentialy dangerous. He has so much power, and can break the laws of physics with some of his curves. Althoug he misses too much to be as good as beckham. But when its on target, his free kicks are the most dangerous of anyones.

Recoba's free kicks are awsome. One of his ones earlier this year was fitting of Roberto Carlos' wonderkick.

Is he a goalie? Cuz in WE6 the World Elite's goalie's name is something along the lines of Chilavert, and he always takes their free kicks :crazyboy:

r.carlos sucks taking free kicks, he has much more many chances than any other free kick taker I've seen, and he misses 98% of them. I think Zidane should take the free kicks for Madrid...

Carlos has a good leg.. but his aim sucks

the walls in England are harder to get around ?....or the goalies are THAT much better ?

Are you serious! See his one just recently against Real in the Champions League?
He is scoring them consistantly when he gets free kick within range...

However, Im also a big Ian Harte fan, and think that he definitely deserves a mention ;)

Yeh, Ian Harte hits a really good free kick and I still don't understand why he wasn't playing earlier this season, even left wing he would've done a job!

As for the main topic, surely its Becks?? That free kick against Madrid, ain't nobody able to replicate that swerve and that's a fact. Because of the way Beckham swerves it over and around it means one little factor out cud mean it missing the goal, but he's always close. I've seen one or two of Hooijdonk's FK's, think one was in a UEFA cup final 2 years ago. They're OK, but many players can hit free kicks to his style. I mean, Jamie Redknapp scored a beauty from 30-35yds for Tottenham the other day.

I would say Beckham. But as said earlier, Harte and Mihajlovic both strike great free-kicks too.

I would say Becks is the best, but the best free kick i have ever seen was by Dennis Irwin. He hit it right footed, miss kicked it nut megged 2 people and mark huges tapped it in....beautiful.

Also, Veron is amazing at long free kicks....well he was at lazio

Harte,Beckham,Hooijdonk,Mihajlovic,Mendieta,Seedorf sometimes.
Zola's are the most enjoyable tho. They land right in front of the GK and go under his arm into the goal OR the opposition player lodges it into the net which makes Zola's really fun-to-watch kind of kicks.:)

becks fer me....his bend it simply amazing, i'm modelling my freekicks on his style...i can achieve the bend but still trying to achieve the right dip. u realise how much effort he puts to perfect his freekicks when u try to pull of what he does

Ian Harte is too slow for a Left Winger...

He had two really good seasons, and has heaps of talent, but the the 01-02 season for Leeds, he really didnt play too well...He started 02-03 the same, and when Raul Bravo and Teddy Lucic were brought in, he was dropped...That may have been exactly what he needed, because at the end of the season, when Reid put him back in the first team, he played REALLY well.. Great passer, and has a great long shot (and free kick of course), but he still can be shown up for his lack of pace. He cant be chosen at LB, JUST for his Freekicking...as a midfielder he is definitley too slow (and we have Harry out there usually ;))...

As for Beckham, I think that noone can get the dip that he gets, to compliment his curve....But Hooijdonk is pretty good too, you say anyone can hit those freekicks like his, BUT he does it consistantly...Its definitely between those two as the best.

i dun understand why harte was dropped when bravo came in....i still remember before the pool leeds game thinking that dioufy wont get a look in if he's playing, he's too slow for a winger but as a fullback he can afford the time to see the opponent coming at him and thus he's more effective. instead, bravo started and dioufy skinned him all the way until he had to be subbed..i was going...wait a minute, is this guy becoming a regular in the spanish national team?

Bravo was often showed up for bad positional play IMO...

Lucic went ok, but he often threw a poor ball..

Harte WOULD be my choice of the three (Lucic and Bravo have both left again now anyway), but against fast wingers he is often beaten with pace...Against someone like Beckham he is usually fine...Fortunatley in the EPL, there are more fast Left Wingers than Right Wingers..
