It's true Chelsea have bloated the transfer market(kinda like we did in the 90s) but I can't believe what I'm reading. SWP is not overpriced and definitely not overrated. Obviously some of you guys dont see much of the guy. You say: "Oh Man City are crap, so SWP must be crap then LOLZ!11". :nape: He's young, he's brilliant, he's used to the Premiership AND he's English, what did you expect the price to be?

He's a fantastic player, fantastic dribbler, not exactly weak even though he's short, fantastic finisher and has a great shot on him. He'd run rings around the supposed "Godlike" Serie A defenders anyday. If he wasn't a City boy I wouldn't mind putting him on our right wing and putting Ronaldo on the left.

I wish he'd go 2 arsenal, he'd play week in, week out, and he would suit them superbly. Also increase his chances of England squad, chelsea dont need him!

30M pounds for SWP? 45M pounds for Essien. Ridiculous prices. They're not worth that much. No team on earth, other then Chelsea, would pay up that much for those players.

SWP ain't worth that much-he's not as good as Rooney and he isn't as important to Manchester City as Rooney was to Everton. If Rooney was 27 million or whatever it was, then SWP that's the most SWP is.

Oh and also, Manchester City better accept this because no one except Chelsea is going to offer them say 23 million. Chelsea will offer them that and no one else.

:| first season Rooney left = Everton in the CL
City without SWP in line up because of injury = Keegan resigning from the club
you saying that = you are a douchebag

Heh, bull****.

Plus Rooney isn't worth 27m, he's 15m at the very most. He's just English, English players always cost more. Like Mexicans.

Oh you guys just misunderstood. I was using Rooney as an example, I wasn't saying he was worth it. It's just that at the time that's how it was. I know that Rooney wasn't a big loss to Everton but he cost a lot and SWP isn't going to be sold for that much because Rooney wasn't sold for 30 million. Rooney was just hyped up a lot.

Where did you get that breaking scoop??? Was it in the post above you? Or were you too busy fellating Ibrahimovic in "the zlatan style" to notice?

Why would he go to chelsea?????? if robben, duff, and cole are healthy he will just rot on the bench.....
Cole is a nautural attacking midfielder. He was pressed into service as a winger out of need at that position. Being that he would be the only natural right winger, and that Robben has the unfortunate tendency to be somewhat brittle, I doubt he would spend all that much time on the bench.

The problem with Chelsea getting fleeced for players is compounded by them being so arrogant/flagrant about their transfer targets: if they became somewhat more political and sewed a few bits of false intrest around, then teams might be a bit more hesitant to reject first offers. The team should have at least looked at Joaquin a bit longer, even if Betis werent going to let him go.

City agree to Wright-Phillips fee
Manchester City and Chelsea have agreed a fee for Shaun Wright-Phillips.

The Blues had had a £20m bid for the 23-year-old winger rejected but a £21m compromise has reportedly been agreed.

City have also given the England international permission to open personal talks with the title holders.

"As a result of Shaun's request to speak to Chelsea we have conducted a series of complex negotiations with Chelsea," said a City spokesman.

On Saturday City boss Stuart Pearce had insisted Wright-Phillips would not be sold on the cheap. "His advisers need to be acutely aware we need to get our valuation for him.

"I'm disappointed he's made this decision but I respect the wish to play where he feels there's a great chance to further his career.

"It would be very difficult to sell the football club above what Chelsea can realise in the next 20 years."

Wright-Phillips played for City in their friendly at Tranmere on Friday but withdrew from the side to play at Macclesfield on Saturday.

City claimed he was feeling unwell and had been driven home.

Wright-Phillips has previously insisted he wanted to stay at City and the club have always made it clear they wanted to keep their prized asset.

Pearce added: "I am a little bit frustrated with him but not annoyed. I know him inside out and he is a smashing player to manage.

"He will be a massive asset to any football club he represents whether that is Manchester City for another 10 years or somebody else.

"I don't think he is the finished article yet, he can only get better. As someone to work with, he is fantastic and my opinion on that is not going to change."

Wright-Phillips joined City in the summer of 1998 having been a trainee at Nottingham Forest and has played almost 150 games for the club.

Arsenal were also thought to be keen to sign him but are unlikely to be able to compete with the spending power of the Stamford Bridge outfit.

Wright-Phillips was City's joint top scorer with 11 goals last season and also made his England debut which saw him score against the Ukraine after coming on as a substitute.

Chelsea were set to swoop for Steven Gerrard before the midfielder signed a new deal with Liverpool and have also made a bid for Lyon's Michael Essien.

Rooney is class and proved it at euro 2004, and he will be the key 2 a sucessful campaign in the world cup for us. but also SWP has proven himself in like every man city game the last 2 years

But i wish he'd go 2 arsenal? i quess he knows what he's doing tho
