It was a straight Red from a Late frontal attack.... The only reason that was a Red card is cause its Italy and anyone playing Italy other then an EU team would of gotten a straight Red.

I actually don't think Chielini deserved red. And at any rate, it was a stupid/reckless challenge by Clark. He shouldn't force the referee to make that decision.

That challenge deserved no booking at all. Altidore didn't even need to embellish it to win the penalty.

Granted Clark should of never forced the hand of the referee but its not a straight anywhere in the world except in International play (when you are not an UEFA team). That's not a Red card in Serie A

I never said you cheated... Nor did anything I state even leans towards it. I clearly stated that if you are a UEFA team vs a CAF/CONEMBOL/CONCACAF/AFC team you are clearly going to get biased calls in international play.

This is not at the fault of any team but the refereeing.

It isn't a Straight Red Card in Serie A or B but somehow this has been a Red Card in 2 straight USA vs Italy matches...

I'm not saying Italy isn't a better team cause they are. Probably the 2nd or 3rd best UEFA team and easily top 5 in the world but when you continually get BS calls from FIFA Refs time and time again (Allah World Cup) then you have no reason but to question it.

Good tournament, it was just awkward when the players had to stop to pray facing Mecca in the middle of the game. The team in possession kicked the ball out in such situations, but sometimes the other team didn't return it afterward. Poor sportsmanship, I must say.

The red card call was utterly absurd. In no way, shape or form should that have been a straight red. A yellow for sure, but red cards need to be for malicious fouls where the player intentionally goes after another player and doesn't try to play the ball at all...Clark was obviously trying to make a play for the ball and just stayed in too long.

This statement, like today's red card, is completely and utterly absurd. I wish we could have Spain play Barca- we would have to clone a few of the guys who play for both- because Spain would mop the floor with Barca. Torres and Villa would cut holes through the Barca back line.

But Barcelona are a much tighter unit. Spain, like most NT's, have limited experience playing together.

And I think Messi/Henry/Eto'o would cut holes through the Spanish defense.

I have to agree with some of you, blowing those f*cking trumpets for the full 90 minutes is so annoying and unnecessary. It's almost like the fans went there to blow the trumpets and dance rather than watch the match and cheer for whatever side they're supporting. Maybe it's the cultural difference or something like that but I didn't sense that the fans were really into the match.
Great game by Rossi. I hope Lippi starts considering him in the starting lineup for future games..
