A question to FIFA fans

I also think something is missing in the feeling in Fifa 2005 demo.

I play PES 3 untill Fifa 2005 and PES 4 comes out and I noticed that it's a huge factor that all sounds etc aren't in Fifa 2005 demo so I think this thing I am missing now will be there in the full version. Also commentarys will make the feeling bigger and greater.

although i said to myself that i'll never play fifa again, i still wanna try it just because of the career mode and lisences and that's it.

lol I only just realised WE8 and PES are same game. I knew they were linked because on PES3 theres a team name Winning Eleven United but didn't think they were SAME game.
Anyway about this first touch, surely you could already do that. Before the ball comes to you press pass and he will pass it straight away. If you press pass and the back arrow it will pass backwards etc. Fifa seems to have a groundbreaking special thing every year.....
Fifa 2003- Club Championship (They should bring that back)
Fifa 2004- Off the ball control
Fifa 2005- First Touch
Also what is weird is only the "GOOD TEAMS" e.g in fifa 03 the club championship teams have their own stadium. Playing against a team with a PROPER STADIUM always had better atmosphere. Especially the players coming out of the tunnel, for some reason i really like that

You've posted two replies in this thread and you've already mentioned it twice that we don't have any serious arguments.

Read the first post and tell me, which one of my points isn't sensible enough for you?

Or, for that matter, which one of anyone else's views do you absolutely fail to grasp?

True, I haven’t played the demo. (Simple reason - Can't be bothered to play with **** (crap)!)

But then again many credible people on this site (like the Wolf) have written a very objective review of FIFA05 and mentioned that the game still doesn't feel right, that there is a lot still missing.

Under these circumstances, isn't First Touch simply a dumb marketing ploy for people dumb enough to buy it?

Instead of focusing on the most important aspect of a footy game (the GAMEPLAY, FIFA fans), they simply come up with a useless special feature to divert the whole attention of people dumb enough to be carried away so easily.

And since EA knows it pretty damm that they will never perfect the gameplay, introducing a dumb feature for dumb people every year is a bloody convenient way to sell its crap, ain't it?

And this, Mr. degoose, has been the main argument on this thread the entire time, which of course, you've entirely failed to comprehend.

Any questions?

P.S. The overuse of the word dumb is deliberate. And the post explains the reason well enough for those who get it.

Well even on this post youve made out the game is ****e without even playing it,also i do agree they do make some stupid sales ideas but i dont buy games that are based on little enhancements or a name. If that was true i would have bought a ps2 because there so cool and i would buy designer clothes because some stupid celebrity wears them. I buy games which i like the play of. I played the demo and thought it was good fun, very playable and the graphics and detail was good.

Then in November im then going to buy PES4 because that looks like a damn good game. You see im not biased unlike you seem to be.You are biased of course because you havent even played it but says its crap. Also by you insinuating that im dumb isnt even remotley clever especially because i like a game that you dont. Seems a bit shallow on your regards.

In your post you tried to make out that you are in some way smart or even remotley clever but when you then start insulting me in a childish way it seems to backfire on you.

Well thats me done im sure youll come back with some amazingly whitty remarks and insult peoples opinions again.

First off I find the notion that a development team working at EA's Vancouver development office here in Canada (yes I am Canadian) would somehow be less prone and able to create a good soccer game.

I will tell you now, this country is made up, and founded on (surprise surprise) english, french, german etc immigrants. The entire FIFA team at the EA Canada location happens to be mostly brittish. An argument stating that EA is not smart by developing the game in a certain location has no validity, especially when you neglect to take into account the personel who work there. EA Canada does not exclusively recruit Canadian citizens.

- And since EA knows it pretty damm that they will never perfect the gameplay, introducing a dumb feature for dumb people every year is a bloody convenient way to sell its crap, ain't it?

I enjoy the shear amounts of arrogance mixed with childishness displayed in these forums. I was told once that a forum is a sounding board for people's ideas and opinions, though I find a forum is more effective when the people involved have INFORMED opinions of some kind.

Simply put, if you havn't played FIFA 2005 for a good many hours, and really given the game a chance, then anything and everything you say about the game is simply childish banter.

All you people who are fed up with EA and think their gameplay is nerfed don't communicate it to EA that well. Any right minded consultant at EA will never take anything said by someone who hasn't played the game seriously. Especially if there happens to be mass amounts of profanity accompanying the post.

And Degoose. Don't take anything these guys say to heart. I play both PES 3 and FIFA 2005 myself, and will soon be a proud owner of PES 4. I love both games for different reasons. I am a TRUE football fan, not a game franchise fan.

I appreciate what you are trying to do, but arguing with the childish types of people who (sadly) pledge allegiance to one gaming company over another doesn't work.

I can see that people want EA to change for the better, or they wouldn't even spend time insulting them, or making fun of their games without even playing them.

Calling a company dumb won't attract their attention to your opinions. I find that when I send thoughtfull letters to the company about things I would like to see changed (as a client, usually a petition helps) things change.

I sent a thoughtfull letter about career mode and gameplay issues last year to EA. Low and behold things changed for the better. They still have things to address, and so does Konami. Both will hear from me, and other non radicals, and change for the better.

Anyhow, this is yet another thread of wasted time, where no one is debating anything. Simply throwing out long semi correlated strings of profanity and hateful emotions...

Leaving aside stories of insults and backfires...

I didn't call you dumb because you like a different game than me.

But because, 4-5 people before you made a point very clear but you kept on insisting that everyone had no point.

Almost one page of words and you tell us that we were just bashing FIFA without any solid arguments.

Hence, because it seemed like you just didn't get our point, yet still felt the need of pointing out that we didn't have a point, I called you dumb.

But in the light of new developments, seems like you did indeed get the moral of the story.

So, I may have been hasty to call you dumb, but you should take care too, and not post anything without first thinking clearly about it.

Fair enough?

Cheers

P.S. I don't buy FIFA not because it's a cool thing to do, but because I simply got tired of year after year after year of buying crap. (I gave up entirely after 2003, which stayed on my machine for less than 10 minutes.)

Go to the first post. Read, understand, rinse, repeat.

Firstly, most of us can't be bothered with writing letters to EA (since most of PES fans don't give a flying f*** about FIFA).

Secondly, read my post above this to understand why I don't play FIFA. But I'll still explain it, strictly for your benefit.

Because EA has consistently come up with worse and worse games. And because FIFA 2005 is still not good. I know that because of the reviews from other PES players who have repeatedly said that FIFA just doesn't feel as alive and fun as PES. So, I can't be bothered to waste my bandwidth and harddrive space for something that I'll most likely uninstall in 10 minutes.

And as for your repeated use of "childish and/or ignorant", well, that's some bold words for someone who didn't seem to understand anything... nothing. Like all dumb flamers, you just take words, bend them around, post a useless reply but never bother to understand and explain the other person's views or why you don't like it.

If you really think that questioning EA's marketing strategy (which is the whole point of this thread) is a "childish banter", then take a deep breath, resuscitate your brain cells, and might as well start thinking properly while you are at it.

"Firstly, most of us can't be bothered with writing letters to EA (since most of PES fans don't give a flying f*** about FIFA)."

If most PES fans dont' care about FIFA then why bother talking about it? Play PES, enjoy it (I play it, it is fun). Why bother bashing FIFA, if you know, and can tell from countless reviews that PES is a better game, then there is no need to say anything derogatory towards FIFA. Unless you actually care about the development of the series.

"that's some bold words for someone who didn't seem to understand anything... nothing"

I think I understand full well, or am trying to understand why people keep posting stuff if they apparently don't care about it. Seems like a waste of time. Either people care, or they are simply children trying to incite some kindof anger induced response.

As for being a flamer... when did I insult anyone personally? I havn't "flamed" anyone. I have yet to insult either game or make a "stand" (as foolish as that would be) for either game. Because I have played and enjoyed both. Unlike you who has, oh wait, not played FIFA 05 and can't be bothered to play it because you would rather insult something which you don't understand. ;)

"If you really think that questioning EA's marketing strategy (which is the whole point of this thread) is a "childish banter", then take a deep breath, resuscitate your brain cells, and might as well start thinking properly while you are at it."

Indeed. I refer back to your initial post. Since you HAVING NOT PLAYED THE GAME, do not even know what First Touch is.

WHY , and I ask WHY and HOW, do you think you are potentially intelligent in insulting or degrading the first touch feature when you CLEARLY (and I accentuate these words so you might actually comprehend something) have not played the game, nor given thought to playing it.

Wake up, read what is on the screen and respond to posts that concern you. This thread is childish banter. I stand by that.

You say I bend words, sorry pal, but I don't. I quote exactly what you wrote, and in the exact context within which you wrote them.

I am just trying to instill a bit of civility in a message board which has, for the most part, a good many posts of relevant information which aid in the development of these games which I hope we all play and love.

Ignorance is you. Not having experienced or attempted to understand the thing you so very much loathe. Am I wrong?

If you truly don't care about EA and their FIFA series, then don't comment. You have the game which you consider your ultimate football experience (PES) why bother pandering about insulting its rival.

Are you wallowing so deep in your insecurity that you need to lash out at everything not as "superior" as your favorite brand?

Either way. EA isn't trying to insult anyone's intelligence by spearheading the marketing of their series with a new feature. Makes sense... considering PES 4 is a rehash of PES 3 with no major improvements. KONAMI would be pushing the liscences if they ever aquired them all, would that be insulting a PES fan's intelligence? After all, the liscences only validate a true football simulation. Why would a company leave them out? ;)

First Touch is simply part of a major revamp of the whole gameplay system. A fresh new game, for a fresh new year. EA is making strides, making a transition from a market which originally was centered around arcadey pickup and go, to a world of simulation and realism. And believe me, they will get there.

I hope I managed to answer all of you questions. Notice how I havn't "flamed" you once. Calling people "dumb flamers", and insulting the oxygenated state of their brain cells is childish banter.

So prove me wrong. Post an argument which is more than a mindless rant. Play the game for a few hours, TRY to like it. Give it a chance. In the end, if you still don't like it, write up a sensible little article on what you did, and didn't like.

Starting off with... who's bashing FIFA? Even though that maybe the underlying tone, the primary target is FIFA fans, who buy EA's marketing strategy.

And yes. They still remain dumb marketing strategies. EA comes up with some bull**** revolutionary technique every year, without, now hear this out properly this time, without making the gameplay even remotely as good as PES3.

So, in effect, all they are trying to sell is their pointless new feature, which is indeed pointless in absence of a good gameplay. But, EA keep on advertising their special feature as their main strength.

Hence, anyone unlucky enough to face EA's adverts again and again is bound to feel that it is almost as if EA thinks game players don't have any intelligence at all and will ignore the basic requirements of a game and buy anything given the right amount of marketing bombardment.

I suppose you are with me so far?!!

So, still reckon this thread is a so called childish banter?

The way I see it (and many others saw it), this thread has a perfectly legitimate question. What drives FIFA players to give in to EA marketing and buy their computerised crap year after year after year?

And by the way, yes. You are god awfully wrong. My hate for FIFA doesn't come from ignorance. It comes from experience. EA came up with crappy game after crappy game year after year and in the end EA simply came up with one crappy game too many.

And as for brand loyalty and insecurity, get over it mate. You think everyone is as whiny as you so as to get insecure over a PC GAME???? Jesus Christ man. What bloody world do you come from?

Anyways, I do not lash out at the "other brand". Like all PES players I merely MOCK it. And occasionally people dumb enough to play/argue for a piece of crap so passionately.

So, all in all, I may play the game. Hell, (god forbid) I may even like it. But, still, doesn't change the fact that EA uses aggressive (and numbing) marketing strategy to sell what has always been the "worse football game". And that there are people dumb enough to buy it (first the adverts and then the game).

P.S. Anthony here couldn't have a better timing. Here's his review: http://www.soccergaming.tv/showthread.php?s=&threadid=111657

And there are countless many reviews like that.

Past experience + Present community reviews = NO FIFA.

Isnt that what you are doing by calling "First Touch" a stupid marketing ploy. You don't even know what it is. All PES fans just think it is how you pull off moves but there is WAY more to it than that. Sure, by not playing the game at all or for no more than 10 mins , this is what one would think of "First Touch". You havent even played the game, once agian how can you call it a marketing ploy. Without even trying something it is complete ignorance to bash or make assumptions about it. You and like most other PES fans know nothing about First Touch Control. As you have said but now directed at you, Don't bark out useless, hollow comments. If you don't use the system then don't talk about it. With your frame of mind is Polyphony Digital just using marketing ploys by saying there are over 600 cars and 50 tracks in Gran Turismo 4. Lets hit home, wouldnt it be a marketing ploy for Konami to talk about the fact that they have some real players in PES4 and they used motion capturing. I thought motion capturing was standard for sports games since PSX and N64.

aye so i don't know anything about the First Touch thing. You gotta admit that fifa have focussed their last two games on promoting a new sort of future that doesn't really have anything to do with real football. In 2004 it was Off the ball control.. this year its First touch.. what the hell are they gonna come up with in 2006. maybe it'll be something like Super Shot or something
