Not 2 sure about that about Suarez leaving..
If we reach the CL I think he will stay but that's going to be tough.
El Hamdaoui is a great striker with technical skills, he's able to score more than 20 goals in a season (last season 20). I think he will score more goals for us than Pantelic did (Y)

I can't see how Suarez is going to stay with the impressive WC he's had and all the financial trouble we're going through. The fact that we're trying to sign three forwards at the same time is a bad sign to me as well. Jol is already preparing for his departure.

Oh and even though I also think El Hamdaoui is a very good signing I definitely think we're going to miss Pantelic. Don't underestimate the amount of goals he set up with his length and strength up front last season.

I have every faith in Mounir doing well for our club :)
It's still possible that Suarez stays, we sell Greg vd Wiel for 24m to Chelsea that's a start for the final problems but we'll see how it goes.
If Suarez leaves the club we're going to need a good replacement.

What happened to the Mido deal?
Still being concluded I believe
if it happens, it will be great to see him in an Ajax shirt again (Y), even though he is a mere shadow of the star striker from 2002 ...

Mido made it very clear that he wants to play for Ajax again but Middlesbrough is not that easy it seems so them and Ajax are still negotiating a deal.
I hope he returns, he was fantastic for us and I think he can do good things for Ajax.

Damn we were so close in beating Dinamo Kiev!
It was a tough game and it's too bad we didn't win but 1-1 gives perspective for the next game when we play at home.
I'm counting on our squad to pull it off so that we can play Champions League finally after a few years (Y)
Jol thinks we can do it with the fans behind the team in a sold out ArenA!
Aston Villa was flirting with our coach but he blew it off yesterday, saying that he wants to become champions with Ajax first (Y)

didn't catch the match this weekend, but I did watch NOS Studio Sport for the extended highlights ... man, El Hamdaoui and Luis Suárez have really taken to each other ... saw them in the pre-match taking time to discuss tactics and interplay between them, then one assisted the other and vice versa on all 3 goals, and then the celebrations showed how much they are enjoying the newly-formed strike partnership ...

---

good news that Mido's signing has finally been completed ... I really hope he takes the opportunity seriously, and rediscovers at least some of his old form ...

Yes I've been to the game on saturday and enjoyed the teamwork between El Hamdaoui and Suarez. They're starting to become buddies on and off the pitch and that's great to see and they can find eich other easily during the game it's great to watch.
And I'm very happy with Mido signing for us again (Y)
This wednesday I'll hope we can beat Dinamo Kyiv and qualify for the Champions League it's been a long time since we played there it's about time too!
I don't see too many players leaving though if we won't make the CL, Suarez is very happy with Mounir as said earlier and Stekelenburg already heard from the board that he's not for sale for ANY club because we need him this season.

Yeah, didn't get a chance to catch the match either (I was at Lowlands), but from what I've seen it looked like a pretty confident performance yesterday. Hopefully we'll be able to continue the good form against Dinamo Kyiv. It would be so rad to finally play Champions League football again, after so many years.

Good thing the Mido deal finally is done, BTW. We need a player that can break open a match, even though I don't expect him to be able to bring as much to the team as he could 7/8 years ago.

CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FINALLY

It took us 4 years to get there but we're back!
Beating Dinamo Kyiv with 2-1 is an unbelievable result, we were overclassed during the 1st half but our goalkeeper Stekelenburg saved us from going under and in the 2nd half we took measures in our hands and outplayed them more and more de ArenA was ours welcome to HELL!
Fantastic game yesterday in de ArenA what an atmosphere (Y)
Fantastic goals from our strikerduo Luis Suarez and Mounir El Hamdaoui :33vff3o::33vff3o:
We partied all night yesterday after the game what a result for us, what a result for the club and what a result for Dutch football!!

Tonight the draw and Ajax is back man I'm so happy :bob::bouncy::bob:

Congrats to all the Ajaxfans here.

back with the big boys, where Ajax belongs!

yeah, Stekelenburg made a couple of unbelievable saves ... Shevchenko could scarcely believe it ...

once again Luis and Mounir on the scoreboard and involved in each others goals (though Mounir almost fluffed his in front of an empty net :D) ...

was happy for Micky, grabbing an assist after some good build-up play and a great run to reach the ball into the box ...

looking forward to the draw now ... it is not in my nature to hope for the easy/boring way out -- I want some exciting match-ups! (H)

EDIT:

f*ck a duck ... I was hoping for an English seed and a team like L'OM or Benfica or Bremen ... Milan and Mourinho is not anywhere close to what I ideally wanted ...

Benfica was in the same pot as Ajax. And seriously i dont believe Ajax would beat us.
Benfica -> Pot 2
Ajax -> Pot 3

I wanted exciting matchups, and I think it would have been exciting ... Benfica give European nights a real sense of occasion: I love the pre-match victory eagle that flies around the stadium and perches above the club crest -- totally awesome!! (H)

---

anyway, Group G is a glamour group ... some great matches against Milan and Real:

And we would've beaten Benfica too, I've watched them against Feyenoord and I was not impressed at all..besides that we have a much stronger team than Feyenoord :browsmiley:

Bring em on in group G is what I say, I can't wait for the games against Milan and Real, we are unbeaten in Europe for quite some time now and almost unbeatable in our own stadium.
We have to amazing strikers in Suarez and El Hamdaoui, Suarez has told the media that he stays with Ajax this season (Y)
And our goalkeeper is one of the best in the world and he proved that again yesterday..
I think this group can go places and we will see where we stand in a few months ;)

Well ain't it just our luck. 5 years since we last played in the CL and immediatly we get handed the toughest group. Well it will be great matches for us, but I don't see how we could qualify from this group. It seems like the best we could get is the third Europa League spot, right now. :(

Yay! 5-0 versus De Graafschap and a draw for PSV means we're back where we belong at the top of the table.
