The US President, regardless of his name, is in a lose-lose situation.

Elephants have large, thin ears. Their ears are made up of a complex network of blood vessels which with regulating an elephants temperature. Blood is circulated through their ears to cool them down in hot climates.

In that case, I haven't. Links to where I can read about it?
You're being so modest at all times that i don't really understand if it is sarcasm or not. No offense meant. You seem like a really nice person basing on the posts you have made.

Clearly i meant the US-Mexico situation, which has nothing to do with this topic at all... It's just that i've read a lot about it and it hurts me how many innocent people have died there, because of the drug war, kidnapping people, extortion etc.

kp, why do you think Hamas and Muslim Brotherhood are worse than the current ba'athist regime? Also, the mujahideen fighters (islamist militant groups) also participated in armed conflicts in Yugoslavia, but I wouldn't have dared to bring that as an excuse to support Miloševic. I think we have to be very very careful with this rethoric. If we oppose the intervention, we should not give credit to a mass murdering dictator and his regime.

Bashar government was harmless for so many years, he was actually USA kind of guy, Kerry talked to him back in 2010 and asked him to play more important role in middle east. Everything changed during last couple of years ... Hamas and Muslim brotherhood are dangerous, their beliefs are radical and their diplomacy is weak ... look what happened to Egypt ... Hamas can't even make peace with other Palestinian groups.

I'm not saying Bashar should stay, I'm just saying they should act wisely and don't make a move that empowers radicals and terrorists.

^^ if Assad had not used chemical weapons, we would not even be having this discussion. I've read a few articles about Assad before the uprising, and I agree, he was a U.S type of guy.

chygry, at the moment I didn't know which border you meant and after what Sir_Didier_Drogba said, I decided to make sure and ask. Now that I know what you meant, I truly know what is happening in the drug war.

Yeah, that's not the first time the US flirts with extremists and dictators. Mubarak, Hussein, bin Laden and Gaddafi have all been "USA kind of guys" at some point. If I see photos of Kerry and al-Assad at McDonald's together, it makes me think that Kerry is a hypocrite, instead of making me think of al-Assad as an all-around nice fellow.

The regime that has been in power in Syria has been far from harmless. The rebels and protesters themselves have said that to them, it's insulting to say that the atrocities in Syria will just begin with foreign intervention. I guess you can call it pretty harmless, if you only take to consideration their foreign policy, but the conflict started because of the situation that the regime created for the syrians themselves.

The same regime has been in power since the coup in 1970. That means 40+ years under a dictatorship that came to power through a coup d'etat. Human rights have never meant nothing for the al-Assad family. Even if they were decent leaders, you have to realizie that 40 years in power will alienate any establishment from the rest of the population. You have to bear in mind that the Syrian uprising began during the Arab spring. People in some reasons decided to fight against the regimes they've been oppressed by for decades. Surely islamists of different types are involved, it's a region where islam is the leading religion.

I'm not pro-war. I'm anti-Assad. Would things go my way, we'd see secular anti-authoritarians gaining victory over the regime and establishing a new egalitarian political system. But that won't happen, the next best scenario for me, is getting rid of al-Assad by any means and hoping it goes well afterwards.

The U.S is hesitant to get involved in this conflict, I don't see why they would do such a thing. Conspiracy theorist always find a way to create a scenario that works in their favor.

Some believe that he used them earlier. It is frustrating, then, that the US is reacting now.

That's the argument against using the "his regime has used chemical weapons" claim as a way of defending the decision to go in.

It's not just a belief, but actual fact. It has only been a discussion now because of how many people were affected in one attack, and the videos released being that of small children.

But that can be construed as a blurred red line. What exactly constitutes crossing the red line? Posting a video? Or the actual event?

It's really not that clear and far too many people are confused about it because it wasn't big news several months ago.

I don't quite see the link between Iraq 2003 and aerial interventions in the midst of two civil wars in Libya and (potentially) Syria. Would intervention have been more justifiable if it had been undertaken not in 2003 (under shoddy pretense), but in response to Saddam's gassing of the Kurds?

Also, Imperialism and Isolationism are two sides of a pretty useless coin.

I wish i never become like newbie, it would take a lot of effort and drug abuse to become like that, impossible really because of my high intelligence. And he's not even using any of those.

Edit: i'm kind of a messed up sitatuion right now and what i meant to say was even 7 years of drug use hasn't done nothing on my mind, depression, maybe. But that's really other people's fault.

Yeah, peace-keeper Putin. He knows he has to oppose the intervention and the rebels, because the Russians won't be taking his shit soon.

I'm surprised to say this but he's doing really well to make some kind of progress, Syria is going to give up their chemical weapons.

Btw, CarlosDanger, don't mess around ...
