what the hell? Figo won this award in 2000 if it really is the Ballon D'Or given by the France Football magazine, and why is Rivaldo on the list of winners instead of him.

Am I totally wrong? I remember him winning the award by France Football some time before picking the Fifa world player of the year award.

Edit: Yep that list is f*cked up:

FOOTBALL: LUIS FIGO ELECTED ?BALLON D-OR¦ AS SHEVCHENKO COMES THIRD

?France Football¦ elected the Portuguese midfield player, Luis Figo, transferred from FC Barcelona to Real Madrid this season for a world record fee, making him the most expensive player in history, for this year-s top award in French football, the Golden Ball.
Figo was transferred this July for 60.1 million Euros (52 million USD, 1.45 billion roubles) from Barcelona to Madrid and has since mesmerised the Spanish football crowds with his magic
In the voting by ?France Football¦, Figo was first with 197 votes, Frenchman Zinedine Zidane was second with 181 and third was Ukranian Andrei Shevchenko with 85.
Figo becomes the second Portuguese player to win this award, after Eusebio in 1956.

If Charisteas doesn't deserve to be on that list than Henry or Morientes don't either. The two last named players had a very good season with their club but disappointed at the Euro. The same applies to Charisteas just the other way round.

I'd go with Deco because he led his team to the CL + Portuguese title and had an okay Euro. That of course doesn't change the fact that he's a diving cheat.

Maniche and Ricardo Carvalho were better than Deco the whole season, but I even so I believe the awards will stay in good hands if it is given to Deco.
And just look into his current form at Barça. Amazing!

Rivaldo won the FIFA World Player Of The Year.

Wow, Ronaldinho and Deco in the lead.I voted Ronaldinho. He deserves it.He's been a one man army last season and now he is displaying briliance week in week out.Henry shouldn't win it.He isn't at Ronaldinho's level now.

1-Ronaldinho
2-Shevchenko
3-Deco

Ronaldinho hasn't won anything.

That means nothing.

If trophies were what makes a player great, then Seedorf is the current best player of the world as he is the most times Champions League winner out of all active players.
And he is nowhere near the best.

I won't even argue on this.Silly comment, Vince.

Seedorf please...

In my opinion a player has to achieve something to deserve the title in that specific year.

Until then, naw.

Thanks dumbass. (H)

The Ball d'Or is a prize for the best player of the YEAR.

Then, the 3 candidates will be:

Deco / Uefa Champions League - Portuguese League Title
Henry / English Premiership Title
Shevchenko / Serie A Championship

Charisteas won the European Cup, but he wasn't the best player of his team

FIFA usually pick a player from a winning team for their 'best player of the year' award, so I wouldn't be surprised if Deco made top honours (for having another great season while winning the CL and reaching the Euro2004 final).

Since this is the Balon d'Or, the race is open. Deco might get it, but I wouldn't be surprised if Henry wins it. In fact, he probably will...

just because Ronaldinho has sick moves and can dribble like no one else on earth, doesn't mean he deserves to win the Balon d'Or.

Titles matters because is the prove that you carry your team to the "promise land" which is to be champions of either your local league, local cup  or and international competition.

He not even played for Brazil in Copa America for god sakes... I'm not taking anything from him, i trully believe his in the top 3 best players in the world, but he most take a team to a title before winning this award. IMO
