Blatter blasts the Chelsea method

Sepp Blatter, president of FIFA, has criticised Chelsea for spending too much on foreign players. "If a club can only have five foreigners among their starting 11, then they will have to build on their own youth system," Blatter told FIFA's official 2006 World Cup countdown magazine.

"If Chelsea were forced to have five foreigners then Roman Abramovich could not go on buying the best players across the world for exorbitant fees.

"Chelsea is the example of what should not happen."

Before last week's FIFA Club World Championship in Japan, Blatter had reiterated his desire for clubs to field at least six homegrown players in order to limit the number of foreigners in their teams.

"The solution is that there should be a minimum," Blatter told reporters. "FIFA's idea is we should have at least six players eligible for the national team of the country in which they play."

European football's governing body UEFA had foreign player quotas until 1995 when the Bosman ruling demolished restrictions on the number of overseas players clubs could have.

Blatter said a FIFA taskforce was examining the "national identity" of clubs to help reverse a trend that could hurt the development of local players.

"The national identity of clubs is very important," he said. "(But) the regulations of club competitions are not made by FIFA but by the national associations.

"It's up to them and their leagues to limit the entry of foreign players."

Oh, we are the only team to buy foreign players, I spose Juventus, Barcelona, Arsenal, Madrid, etc etc are fine.

Blatter is a prize prick as we all know.
I think, that he is just frustrated that Roman didn't give him his share, so now he tries to put Chelsea down, hoping to change the situation.

According to www.ole.com.ar (argentine newspaper) Jose wants Lucho Gonzalez, ex-River Plate and now playing in Porto.

Lucho is pure class. And he played in every position of the midfield, but his favourite position is Right Midfielder.

He is the best argentine Right midfielder, and he is constant in the National Team.

Same to you Rob.........

Proxnet.....cheers mate

Axolote...Dont know how true that is but yeah,i agree ,Gonzalez is a wonderful player.

NOW.....while i've got the Christmas spirit running through my veins,i just wanna say thanks to all the guys/girls on the forums that i've rubbed up the wrong way over the last year, because no matter how stroppy i might have been at times,(and i know i can be a pain sometimes...hehehehe),they still come back and talk to me.
To have different opinions does not mean we have to hate each other,so i appreciate it.This is not to say that i wont be an even bigger asshole next year but, just bear these sentiments in mind if i ever dig you out one day.Its only words.

Happy Xmas..........(i'm gonna regret this post when i sober up...i just know it) :funny:

According to the dutch media Essien will get a private-jet so that he can play for both Ghana and Chelsea during the Africa Cup

Well Roman has said that Essien has use of his jet,but the Ghanain Football Assc.have said that they are not happy about him jetteing back and forth and they might not agree to it.Essien says he is worried about losing his place in the Chelsea team if he does not do it.This could go one of 2 ways obviously...we shall see which way soon i guess.

Lucho is a good player, but I think he'd be a no go in England. He lacks pace. Similar type of player to Tiago, less defensive and bit better technique though.

Anyway Maniche at his best definitely sh*ts all over Lucho. And if it's a squad player to rotate with Essien, he'd be a great pickup. Even if he'd spend some time on the Chelsea subs bench it would be 10x better than wasting his career in some crappy Russian midtable team just because he's paid well.

Maniche has reportedly already signed a 3 year deal with Chelsea. Obi-Mikel is their next target.

I'm glad Zé isn't messing with our Lucho:jap:

Couldn't disagree more.(6)
Any player that doesn't have vacations for two years has some issues with pace.
