even without lampard your team wins. what the hell! as for joe cole what a star he is turning out to be under j.mourinho, if he keeps it up no-one will be talking about lampard, gerrard or kaka, cole will be on every1's lips.

Yeah, But TBH Lampard was nothing at West Ham..Chesea brought him on massively same with Joe cole..Ferdinand was alright at West Ham but when he moved he went up a gear also...

Defoe i dont think has improved that much since West Ham, Carrick maybe a bit.

@BlueBalla regarding J Cole...Hes becoming a very important and influential player for club and country..No longer is he just a show pony doing kick-ups on the sidline while his mates do the work...He has end product now and has devdloped into a goalscoring midfielder..A valuable commodity in todays football im sure you'd agree.

All that being said, He's still a diving little cheating Chelsea scum asshole :)

*Just kidding pal*

lampard nothing at westham? hmmm, i believe he was the under 21 NT captain at the time and he really must have been **** for chelsea to buy him. joe cole was called the saviour of english football while at west ham, so he also must not have been nothing at west ham.

the reason these players received the recognition they did was because of their play at west ham. of course now chelsea is bringing out the best in them, because now they are in their prime and mourinho has found the way to bring the best out of them.

but yeah, just imagine west ham with the likes of joe cole, lampard, ferdinand, carrick, sinclair, defoe all playing with the hammers now.

Well, the reason I mentioned JT in that too is because Terry was first brought into academy football in the West Ham system before we managed to get him like 13-15 years ago now. But yah, even without that their team would be incredible. Then again, many of those guys may have just been career underachievers had they stayed at Upton Park, so who is to say

Agreed, he has cut out all the frillier parts of his game and is far more direct. Like the fake Ronaldo, his tricks are dazzling, but the end product you mention, and the incredible workrate (which he had been showing signs of before now, he tracks back defensively like its his job sometimes) have always been there in traces, but now they are central to his game.

In terms of a goalscoring midfielder, he should be played more centrally at Chelsea, especially with the impending absence of Essien. Robben has come back into form, and Duff has been good all season, so I would like to see Joey stacked as a third midfielder (it happened for the first time a few weeks ago) more often

On this form, he must be a guaranteed starter for England in Germany. Without question.

I want Maniche on loan. Essien will be gone for abo8ut a month or so, and we dont really need him, we need to sell Smertin and Jarosik, what was with Mourinho buying these players, no offence.

As the portugese fellas on here said, Maniche can get back to his best, and frankly I can only him costing us about 5-6 million. Considering hes only 28 (which is young, relatively speaking) and could replicate the form he once had for Porto and country two years ago, im willing to take a chance and see him here permanently.

I can easily see him becoming a fan favorite like Tiago with his long range screamers and two way play. Granted, he may be a sub more often than not, but I still like the guy as a footballer, period, and getting him has the added bonus of keeping him away from the Mancs or Arsenal, who were rumored to be during the first Vieira saga

With Smertin and Jarosik, different story. Smertin was bought to have a Russian presence on the team in 2003 and then loaned. Jarosik = extremely cheap (apparrently he was under a million: surely brum are gonna pay more than that to keep their best midfielder) and he satisfied the Mourinho fetish with height and size in players. They guy was a good squad player, and nothing more. I wouldnt miss Jiri, but I think Smerts is worth keeping around, especially when he can be recalled from the Valley at a moments notice.

But still (for the thousanth time, I know) loaning those two out when their average age was 29 made no sense in light of letting Tiago and Parker, two better players whose avg age was about 24, go permanently. I know, I know, they wanted to leave, but the club shouldve pressed harder to keep them

Anyway, we have the Bison now, so its no biggie ;)

Chelsea 'didn't buy title'
By Robert Millward in London
December 30, 2005

MANAGER Jose Mourinho has rejected talk of Chelsea buying success through billionaire owner Roman Abramovich.

Halfway through the English Premier League season, Mourinho's defending champion has opened an 11-point lead with two rounds of games still to play in the next four days.

Frank Lampard's record streak of 164 Premier League games ended when he pulled out of Wednesday's 1-0 victory at Manchester City with flu, but Chelsea still overpowered City - the only club to beat the Blues in the league last season. With second-place Manchester United surprisingly being held 2-2 by next-to-last Birmingham City, Chelsea's nine-point lead became 11.

With temperatures dropping to four-below, three Premier League games were among the 17 in all divisions to be postponed on Wednesday, and the freezing weather may disrupt schedules on Sunday (AEDT) and Tuesday (AEDT).

Chelsea is at home to Birmingham City on Sunday (AEDT) followed by a visit to West Ham on Tuesday (AEDT).

Having waited 50 years for its first league title since 1955, Chelsea appears certain to make it two in a row with 17 victories in 19 games and a goal ratio of 41-9.

The Blues may also use Russian Abramovich's wealth to buy more players when the transfer window opens on Sunday, but Mourinho insists there is more the club's success.

"I know the image people have of us," said Mourinho fater the win over city, "but I don't believe you will see many teams in the world fighting like we did to get this victory.

"Some might say it is the power of money, but I don't agree. This is the power of a group of friends working together, who have been together since the first day and are ready for anything."

Birmingham has scored only 13 goals in its three wins from 18 league games.
David Dunn, Mikael Forssell, Julian Gray, Stan Lazaridis and Jamie Clapham have injury concerns, while Jiri Jarosik is not allowed to play at Stamford Bridge because he is on loan from Chelsea.

United has two tricky games: at home to neighbour Bolton on Sunday, before a visit to reviving Arsenal on Wednesday (AEDT).

The biggest challenge to Chelsea could come from third-place Liverpool.

Rafael Benitez's team won for the ninth league game in a row on Wednesday, outplaying neighbour Everton 3-1 at Goodison Park. Liverpool should make it 10 on Sunday when it hosts a West Bromwich Albion team it has beaten 2-0, 6-0, 3-0 and 5-0 in its only four Premier League meetings.

Liverpool has a far tougher game at Bolton on Tuesday but, with two games in hand on Chelsea, the Reds can erase part of the 15-point gap.

Sunday's other games are: Aston Villa v Arsenal; Charlton v West Ham; Tottenham v Newcastle; Middlesbrough v. Manchester City; Portsmouth v Fulham, Sunderland v. Everton, Wigan v. Blackburn.

Yeah, he'd be really good at United.

As for the thing about Chelsea not buying the title, regardless of whether they did or didn't (and it's not as if United have never had money) teams and fans alike should just get on with it and play the game. It's not like Chelsea went and bought up Ronaldinho and Buffon and Puyol and Ballack and Henry and Rooney and every other world class player in the world. They went for players who a lot of people didn't know, or weren't seen as being world class. Now that they have established dominance, yes, they are able to attract someone like Essien to the club as opposed to going to United or other big clubs, but really, he wasn't just a player they bought for no reason. Makalele will be gone pretty soon, and Essien is his replacement, if Diarra doesn't develop into a great player.

So I'm sick of the "wah wah Chel$ki bought the title wah wah this isn't fair" complaints, just get on with it.

I will tell you what boys, the atmosphere at stamford bridge was fantastic. Dont go calling me a glory hunter and all that gay ****, i just went to get toshed up and watch some football with my brother who is an actualy cfc supporter, and a couple mates one of which is a villa fan and absolutely hates birmingham so that was quite funny. I was row 3 in the shed end right behind the goal, and it was fun singing along and everything just for fun and taking the piss. Before the game i went in the so-bar and had a few and that was a good time, with all the singing going on, was amazing. The celery song is among my favorites of yours, and also when your in the ground 'stand up for the special one! stand up for the special one!' that was quality cause i actually like mourinho i think hes quite a laugh. Dont get a burger from there though, disgusting they are. Well if any of you bummers get the chance you should go to the bridge, its a good time, dont bring your camera like a gay boy or you will get thrown out the bar like some chinese geezer did today. And i me mates were eggin me on to run on the pitch to get 200 quid, i almost did it, would be worth it cause i would of just been lobbed out the ground and barred, but im going back to america tomorrow so its no worries. Also my mate who hates birmingham wanted to pay me 1,000 if i ran on and twated steve bruce in the face heh

also it bothers me why crespo doesnt play that much, instead drogba does, the ****. Crespo is quality and he also won me some money today buy scoring first, but he had a great game today then drogba didnt do anything. But crespo always scores for you guys, and most of the time being the winner or an important goal
