We wasted Rooney to accomodate both Scholes and Carrick in the midfield. It's so blindingly obvious that Ferguson was playing for a draw the moment the line-up and formation was announced. Playing for a draw away from home is not the United way, and neither is 4-5-1. So very tactically fucking inept and hopeless you couldn't make it up, you wouldn't have to. Fuck off Fergie, and take that cunt Quieroz with you. Heres hoping Lord Stevens digs up something good next month, this is becoming unbearable.

MotM - Ronaldo closely followed by Luisao.

you've stuck one right in shokz
but this time i totally agree with you.
fergie's mentality resembles that of a typical mid class team which would TRY to win......not dictate the play and WIN

So what if we played defensive, last season we tried to dominate against Benfica and we got spanked, atleast we got the 3 points, which is the most important thing after last season's horrific CL season. This aren't league matches, the best teams in Europe are playing each other. I've seen us play the same way against Arsenal, Chelsea etc AT HOME. why didn't you complain about that?

Yeah, that's right, Scholes isn't technically gifted at all is he?

: :boohoo:

LOL i used to think he was one of these English players. But i really think over the years hes gotten better. His touch is very good. He a good player. He deals with pressure situation well. Everyone knows even the portugese that hes a good player. Hes got good movement and when hes on the ball he good at dummyin and shimmyin. He does the basics very well. has good vision. Thats enough to be a good player alone. A one touch team player is sometimes better in situations were ure geting closed down really quick. Scholes is good at that,.

we started cautiously n the first 20 minutes were ok but then we went too defensive n invited benfica to attack n our passin wasnt upto the mark...especially around our box

The second half was better...gr8 strike by saha (though a deflection was there) but fantastic goal :D....our passin was good but it can be even better...happy with the 3 points but i think our team can still improve

Now for some magpie thrashin this weekend :p

Just a response based on how much Benfica fans overrated their victory over Man Utd last year, they speak about it as if they won the Champions League final over us. And Benfica fans do nothing but brag about it, so I thought id grace Benfica fans with a response to the Man Utd victory, that is truthfully worthy of their attitude. Shame, great to hear that stadium silenced once Saha had struck, last years loss is in the past.

Also great to see Ronaldo make a fool out of the Benfica population.

Of course we were happy, after so many years without CL competition, we managed to pass to the next stage beating the all mighty Man United with a B team, that's why we speak about it as it was a Champions League final, like we did with Liverpool, we were just happy with it, not acting like twats, what's the problem with that?

"Oh, i beat you, who's the daddy now?! I am!" , grow up and show some more respect (like we did) for a team that has as many CL's as you have...

Showed some respect? All i heard from the Benfica fans were "Portugese red devils owned the english red devils, we rock-!!!11" etc etc, and the lack of respect shown from your fans annoyed me so bad that I decided to react in that way if Man Utd got revenge. "Benfiquistas" are just sour losers, and worse winners, Forca Sporting!!!

funny that you are the only one trying to stirr up a conflict, everyone has gotten over it and no one was even half as sour as United fans last year. We were actually in general really gracious in defeat this time.

If I remember last year's thread correctly there were like 20 pages of Man Utd fans whining about diving, cheating, etc. Talk about sour losers, eh?

Please be so kind to compare them before you spew further sh*t from that toilet you call mouth.

surely ronaldo was the man of the match. but this victory doesn't guarantee anything, we still have to win another 2 matches to get through to the next round.

Funny you'd bring up diving, Karagounis and Nuno assis were the biggest jokes I've ever seen. Its bad to dive, but its the constant pretending to be injured for 5 minutes after winning a foul that I cant stand. Benfica fans did admittedely take the defeat well, but when your guys won last year, I felt like the fans acted over the top, thats why I wrote what I did, but I'm past it now, and dont want to start a conflict. I cant comment on Man Utd fans reaction last year, I for one was more bothered about going out of the champions league than Benficas peformance, it was the un-gracious way the fans went about celebrating their qualification and victory over Man Utd that annoyed me, and thats why I acted in the way I did, you never saw me writing anything when we beat Celtic.

Jesus Christ, what way? What was the f*cking problem on being too euforic over a win against MU?

You're being such a moron, stop posting it only make you look more stupid, oh, and if by any chance we were acting bad after the win last year, it doesn't make you less of a twat doing the same this year...

And i'm over it already, not posting more, you win, fairly, end of the thread to me, kthxbye

Man you don't even make sense... Van Der Sar wasted time in every goal kick from minute 1. If there was one team that went in there playing for the draw it was United.

A draw or Benfica win.

I know you have it in for me because I actually protect the team I support, so you thought you'd add your two cents, but please don't take it out on me because Man Utd won a game. Your the most disgraceful Man Utd fan I've ever heard of, posting your negative crap all the time, why don't you go and support Chelsea already, I'll make you a Drogba sig if you want? Since you hate on Man Utd as much as the Chelsea fans. Wat an idiot.

Man Utd weren't playing for the draw, they were just approaching the game differently since last year when they went gung ho they came off second best, even your manager could see this and praised Man Utd for it after the game.

It's called being objective and realistic, not hate, you dumb****. So, I'm not biased like you, I should support Chelsea...great logic. Why the **** do you think I hate United anyway? Because of the prediction I made? After last few games in the EPL, I don't think anyone except for a idiot like yourself, thought we're going to walk over Benfica. You, with your biased and childish comments, are not only ******* up the reputation of United fans on this forum, but the clubs reputation in general. You are Pede of United fans.

I agree, wholeheartedly.

Benfica fans really weren't that bad last year, and unfortunately the ones who were did it mostly because of bitching from some United supporters. The reasoning, according to some Benfica fans on here and in general, is that a CL win over Manchester United was a great thing for their club. Take that as a sign of respect and appreciate that every year isn't going to be United's year. I came into this game only thinking we would win only because Benfica has been equally poor in their recent form, and they have a squad deficiency at the moment as well.

Show some class, and realize that just because someone doesn't have a completely optimistic prediction, it doesn't mean they should go support Chelsea.

Its based on alot more than that. You could click on the guys latest posts, and at least 2 out of 10 will be rants or criticisms of Alex Ferguson. Call me old fashioned, but back when I was a lad, "supporting" meant getting behind the team, and yes "supporting them". Not criticising anyone and everyone, and believing and telling others the other team is going to win.

Okay, I won't post anything about Ferguson after this post, because I'm going to post everything I think about him now, surely we'll agree on everything anyway: Fergie is the future, hopefuly he will remain as our manager until he dies (nevermind that he's senile and doesn't respect the fans), after he dies, he should be put in a glass box, Lenin-stylee, the box should travel with the team until the team exist. He surely knows he's stuff, he is above the club and I support him even if he plays Fletcher as a goalkeeper, just because he can.

I will also blindly love the Glazers, just like my idol.
I'll never predict again either, because United will win all the remaining matches by atleast 3 goals.
