Well I know 2-1 ain't that impressive, and the fact that we had to bring in two players that are regulars on the team just makes this look like we weren't hustling...and we weren't.

In the end the team knew what they had to do with the wake up call. We'll murder them en el Azteca... (6)

Memo Ochoa? C'on he don't do these crappy games...Sunday though. :ewan:

America were crap. Portmore could have definitely won the game, if it wasn't for some lapses in concentration. It's too bad they didn't, because it would have punished the arrogance of America.

Both Mexican teams brought their C-squads with second division players. (N)

America was awful. (N)

Was that Gallego screaming in the entire Toluca game?
Man.

Really just awful football games.
I'm not seeing another CCC game....ever..

Toluca only used one 2 Atl Mexiqeunse players, Diego de la Torre and Edgar Garcia... aside from that they were all Toluca bench warmers except Cruzalta and Duenas (who only played cuz theyre gonna be suspended)..

But yeah... boring as hell.

On the positive side for LA, the last 5 times they played a competitive match against a Vergara club, they won all 5 games. :p

Not too bad from LA so far, considering they're in pre-season. Donovan had a great chance to open the scoring but his header went just wide. LA need to take at least a one-goal lead into the second leg though.

Does Donovan really believe that he can take on five defenders all by himself.

Mmm, bad result for Galaxy, no one can defeat Saprissa in Costa Rica.
Specially not with a pre-season team.

Well get our numbers straight this year, you'll see. :p

The Galaxy, like the Revolution, had the better of the play but come away with a 0-0 tie. I was impressed with their play in the second half though.

Hartman - 7 (made one good save early, was alert on corner kicks)

Sturgis - 6 (you can tell he's got talent, but needs to play it safe)
Marshall - 6.5 (big-time tackle on Bolanos late in the game)
Ihemelu - 7.5 (great athlete, and his touch seems to have improved)
Roberts - 4.5 (unable to create anything going forward, kept slipping and turning the ball over)

Vagenas - 6 (mostly a good game, but could have done better with a couple of passes)
Saragosa - 6 (made some key interceptions in midfield)
Gonzalez - 5 (you can see why he never plays for the Galaxy)
Jones - 6 (had some good runs with the ball, but overall not very effective)

Donovan - 8 (easily the best player on the field for the Galaxy)
Gomez - 5.5 (great cross to Donovan in the first half, but mostly a frustrating game for him)

Gardner - 7.5 (Saprissa were making him look like Ronaldinho out there, much better than Memo)

Bobby

The Legend
I thought Donovan was great, but he really should have scored. What the hell was Herculez thinking?

It's uphill from here.

Hey Paul, there's two Mexicans trialing with Chicago in Guadalajara right now.

Isaac Moreno (supposedly played/plays for Toluca)
Gustavo "El Gusano" Napoles

Any clue on who these guys are?

Well you didn't ask me but I know one of the guys, Gustavo "el gusano" Napoles was a huge player back in the mid-late nineties for Chivas. He scored 4 goals in one of the most historic games I can remember...the thrashing of Toros Neza (so sad that this team just dissapeared) 6 - 1 in a Mexican League final.
