Gremio already 2-0 up by HT thanks mainly to Silva's fuck-ups (Y)

edit
Gremio through after penalties.

In all fairness to Martin Silva, if it wasn't for him Defensor wouldn't have made it as far as they did in the first place. I'd say they felt the absense of Sorondo and Gonzalez. Still, Fadeuille's and Peinado's penalties were unexcusable.

Silva didn't look good at all in that first penalty either btw, but I'll take your word as you obviously know him a lot better than I do :p

I also watched Santos x America, nice match right there.
America defended very well throughout the match but the lack of so many starters was noticeable in the second half.
Santos didn't do briliantly but in the end deserved the win, congrats to them.

I agree that he didn't have a good game, I'd say he was at fault in both Gremio's goals, and he probably should have been able to hold that first penalty. He also seemed to have got a touch on the second one.

Still, this one bad game doesn't erase his previous performances, both on the Libertadores and on the Uruguayan league. I wouldn't attribute the elimination to him.

Americanistas are pussys, they were scared to be "grande", Tena prefered to maintain his Job as a coach than risk it all and make history what a mediocre mentallity, it was good though i hate americanistas

Cucuta destroys Boca with a massive performance (H)

it was 3-1 but could have been more, good games by Blas Perez, Torres and Martinez on the Cucuta side. Blas Perez is in fact a great striker, he should move to a bigger team soon.

he didn't have a nice game tonight but I find Banega to be quite classy, and he's only 19...solid midfielder, sure bet for the future.

2nd leg should be great, can't wait :corn:

wow cucuta is still incredible, although there is still 90 min left and its going to be in la bombonera! very hard!

Banega is still slightly overrated for me, like that dip**** Ledesma, i can't believe such guy got to play few minutes in the national team.:kader:

Honestly it's a pain to have argentine commentators to comment matches of the Libertadores they can't avoid being way too biased, like overrating Ledesma after he scored that ****ty goal.:boohoo:

Did Palacio even play?

i just dont know, i still feel boca are going to pull thruw and they are going to make to the final.

btw, pachuca beat internacional yesterday in the first leg of the recopa, pachuca are just in freaking fire, if someone deserves the best team in america this year its them. i think its 5 titles they have won in the last 18 moths or so.

Fncken Cucuta man!

As far as the Recopa I think Pachuca should have no problem sustaining that 1 goal lead. They did it to a much better Colo-Colo than this Internacional, that had all it's best players stripped away.

Well on the end Pachuca looked like they weren't interested on the thing at all. Inter won on the 2nd leg 4-0, by the way.

So the final match of the Libertadores is Boca Juniors vs. Grêmio.

I'm seeing a victory of Grêmio with a header of Schiavi.(H)

Boca are favourites, but Gremio won't be easy to beat. Actually, if I had to predict, I'd go with Gremio, if only for the massive improvement they've made in the last seasons. Two years ago they were battling it out to get promoted to the first division (and what an epic match it was), now they're playing in the Libertadores final.

It wasnt fair to Cucuta who lost the Panamian striker because of international duty. Thats like taking Henry out of Arsenal against Juventus in the return leg away. You just dont do it.

I think if he was there Cucuta might have been able to bag in a goal.

What a piss poor match of Grêmio. How the hell did they get to play the final like this? Judging the colours of Grêmio at times it looked like it was Almagro not Grêmio. It's almost over and it seems Boca is getting it.:kader:

Grêmio are a average to good team at best. They've reached their limit. Also, you wont win Libertadores with Lucio and Patricio as full-backs, Sandro as your defensive mid, and Tuta as a lone striker...

are they that bad?
I've watched the latest Grêmio matches in the Libertadores and both Lúcio and Patrício seemed to be good players, especially Patrício is very solid in defense.
Sandro is strong but that's about it, Tuta is simply too old now.

btw Tcheco is absolutely vulgar, how the hell is he their #10 :|

Lucio was nearly excruciated at Palmeiras for his piss poor performances. Patricio idem, but at Guarani, my hometown club and the club i support. We're in third division now and trust me, even now, people here wouldnt want him back, so that tells a lot! He's somewhat solid in defense but that's it, he's an average player imho.

Tuta used to be a decent goalscorer but he's lost his eye for goal, and well, considering he's poor with the ball on his feet, he bacame useless. Sandro is strong and that's it indeed. And Tcheco is very very average, he was signed to play for Santos a couple years ago, managed 15 starts, one assist and then was promptly sold to some side in the middle-east, as fans couldnt stand his sight.

Anyway, as a team Grêmio are competent, but if you take the individualities they're mediocre, so that makes them an average to good team. With the brilliant tactics Mano Menezes is used to deploy they went pretty far away but sooner or later they would show their faults, and there you go.

dude, that was ultra-informative (Y)

and while I'm at it let me ask what you think about Leandro Lima from São Caetano, he's about to sign for Porto and I'd love to have some info on him.

Skilled lil-midget, even though at São Caetano he's usually on the bench. He did relatively well for us in the South American U-20's, creating spaces and he managed to score a few. He's got potential but i have some doubts on him though. His stature might be a problem and he appears to be inconsistent. Dunno how much he'll cost but apart from this and that, he's talented and very young.
