"Cricket was by far the biggest sport [in the USA] in this period," Tim Lockley, an expert in American history at Warwick University, told the Guardian in 1999. "Then the civil war started in 1861, just when it was reaching its peak of popularity. The sport became a victim of that war."

Klinger and Voges in the shield runs again.

Big game next week - could be a rehearsal for the final.

The Legend
I'm not sure cricket can even be popular here again (though Rugby 7s is making insane progress so you never know what could happen if One Day or T20 got Olympic status). Aside from the obvious problem of other sports being much more popular and much more entrenched the national association has a whole host of internal issues. They've been suspended from the ICC, expelled from tournaments, and saw a high ranking official insult journalists through social media (because, you know, American cricket can really afford to piss off the media!).

It's all a bit of a mess.

Would be a decent final too

Imagine if we had full strength sides...

Not even sure who you'd pick for NSW:
Warner
Carters/Maddinson
Watson
Smith
Clarke
Nevill/Maddinson/Henriques
Haddin
O'Keefe
Starc/Cummins
Lyon
Hazlewood/Starc/Cummins

No room for Sandhu, Doug the rug, and quite a few others.

T20 may make it to the Olympics one day...But not ODIs. ODIs area dying breed unfortunately

You could probably get some guys from a bar in Melbourne and beat us at cricket.

Melbourne? Na, maybe Perth or Sydney, right Mus?

I was a leggie at high school..but we're talking a long time ago! I was like a right handed Michael Bevan with the ball - in that my googly spun more than my stock delivery which basically just straightened down the line. But my googly and flipper got me plenty of wickets at my peak!

I used to bat top 6 until I started playing rep hockey, and so was playing too much hockey in the cricket season - couldn't stop dropping my front elbow and playing cross bat after that :(

Masakadza has hurt me - thought he might score some runs against UAE! Need a big score from Taylor.

Dammit - Taylor 3 runs short of the 10 pt bonus for fifty. Still a 91 point game by my calculations :)

SG might be able to have a go, I can bowl decent left arm spin
opened bat and ball till under-15s ... now just a part-time offie who can bat at #5 and field at point/gully ...

Oh, I'm a slipper, so I'll jump in at first slip. I can catch, so should be fine there!

I can throw too, but I'm too slow to field somewhere where that would be useful :p

You're trading hard! Trading for nearly every game are you?

I'm trying to pick guys who have a few games in a row. Got plenty of trades left still...

Mus going for the no trades policy! Hahaha

Can we always trade? I don't get it..I was waiting for a round end hahah

I have a weak arm so I'd probably have to go in a slip too

As for batting I can exclusively play straight drives and block it...certainly nothing that is horizontal

The Von Trapps
alright, 2 slips and a gully; off to a good start with the field ... and I always maintain that an opener should look to play straight, in the V, and give his side a steady start -- that'd be you, Joe ...

---

and lol, yeah, it works out to 2 trades a day for the first 21 matches:

but I'm doing what you're doing, Alex, and picking an XI for a few days at a time ... I just use the scheduler to have it auto-change my power player from day to day ...

Oh, I don't schedule stuff. Whoops. Should work on that.

Mus, thanks for the draw against SA, sends NSW to the top :)

Typical WA cricket mafia now saying again should be called up for the Ashes....He's taken one ten wicket match, from 69 overs, at an average of 21.4 per wicket. This is an absolute standout game for him..
O'Keefe is averaging under 20 this season, and has a career average of 24 - compared to Agar's 40...I know who I'd be taking

American SG would beat Australian SG.

I dare say you wouldn't come close if it was cricket we were playing.

When we say we aren't great, we have still grown up doing the basics.

Matt, Terrence, Mus, me and I'm sure there are loads more....we'd be set.
