Cristiano Ronaldo could shine in World Cup

Luis Ah-Hoy

Senior Squad
Ribery is excellent.... i'm sure he will shine, if given the opportunity...

But saying that Ronaldo will not shine, is rubbish... he did shine in Euro 2004, and he always (or most of times) performs well, when playing in the NT...
I think they both have the required talent to shine! :shades:

I know that Spain always chokes, and I've called them on it a ton over the last 6 years, but the talent on that team rivals ANY team. Vicente would START on the left flank for any team in the world and he wasn't even selected for the Spanish squad. Morientes would start for almost any team, not selected. In the midfield, there's Xavi, Reyes, Iniesta, Xabi Alonso, Joaquin, and Cesc; if the USA had ONE of those players I would rate our team much higher. Spain has six. And I didn't even mention Albelda who's class.

Albelda class??:D ahhaah you got to be joking? I think Vicente did not go because of his injury issues this year. ( I think he is still injured? )

yeah Vicente spent like the whole season injured. But you know if it happened to Raul he'd be on the team...

... and you know thats not the only questionable callup that was made, somehow Pernia was left out ( the biggest wtf imo ). Raul played more than Xavi but Xavi still made it to the NT. Anyways, its not even sure if he will start or not and I dont really agree to him being called up either. :chew:

I'd rank Brazil, Argentina, Italy, England and Holland above or respectively slightly above Portugal as the top favourites. The Spaniards don't seem to have the mentality to perform as a team when it matters. The French are way past it. They struggled in the qualifying round to leave the likes of Switzerland, Ireland or Israel behind them.

I agree with that. We're no where near favs for the upcoming WC, but I wouldn't include England in the pool either.
Spain, you know, there's too many nationalities in there to make sense. It is always hard for them to get that tight group mentality - that the Germans usually have - without which you won't win anything.

My feeling here is that it's pointless to predict the outcome of a competition with the format of a world cup. It all boils down to how players will perform. I don't know who'll be in form in 15 days, nor do I know who's already too tired from a long season, or who'll get injured during the course of the tournament, etc.
That's why we all love wc's. Just sit back and relax.
