Well, Nik, if you will play the game ebough starting in 3-4 divisions, you will realize how the game sucks. I am not talking that the game is difficult -- it's pretty easy, I have the tactic that I use to have enough budgets, a good stadium map, etc. Hexediting never worked out for me, and that's what I am trying to do now.
OK, the main reason why the game SUCKS:
I started to play in English Second Division taking over Wrexham AFC. Everything was easy, but somehow I couldn't buy players with overall skill of 68 and higher. It was ok, I bought other players and they had a pretty good potential.
these guys are:
Sitku from Ferencvarnosh (Hungrary) - this guy has a tremendous potential. his overall skill rises to 89 from 61 in 5-6 years
Twiss from Manchester United - the same as Sitku, has a tremendous potential
Danysz from Chesterfield - from 55 at the age of 18, his overall skill rises to 77 when he gets older, when he gets 26-27
Howarth from York - As Danysz, his overall skill rises from 58 when he is 18 to 73 when he is 26-27 years old.
Kornaukhov from CSKA Moscow - costs about 50,000 pounds just because his overall skill is about 40 when he plays as a ANC or SW, but when you put him as a central defender, his overall skill suddenly changes into 82-83.
Wiemer from some regional german club - the same as Kornaukhov, his skill will rise to 71 when he plays Central defender. His overall skill will never change through the years, I mean when he will get older, the skill will remain.
Valois from Lille, or some other French club -- this guy's overall skill will suddenly change into 73 when he is gonna play as a striker. Certainly, doesn't cost that much for a player of that level just because his skill is 53-54 when he plays AM (AM is his original position).
there are a lot of others, too,
and with these players I got promoted to 1st division and to the Premiership. I even won the Premiership!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
OK, then, I wen to Cambridge Utd in my 7th season to buy a guy named Benjamin with the overall skill of 84. Cambridge was in 2nd division. Cambridge agreed on a certain price, but the player said "I looked over your proposal and decided to stay at my present club. But thankx for the offer anyway..."
It's like he didn't to leave his club for a MUCH HIGHER wage (his wage was about 15,000 pounds per week, but I wanted to give him a car, house and 45,000 pounds wage!!!) and he didn't want to play for the champions of the Premiership!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
the thing is that in the data, my club starts lower than Cambridge, so everything should remain. As you see, you cannot buy a player with overall skill of 68 or higher from a club that is at higher postion, division, etc than you. the problem is that everything remains as it was at the beginning, and even if I will win the premier league with a team that started playing in a lower divisions (York, for example) I won't be able to buy a player with overall skill of 68 or higher from the club that started at higher division than you, but when you won the premiership, they were in lower division. I REALLY HOPE THAT EVERYBODY GETS WHAT I AM SAYING.
another thing is that when you have a lot of transfer money, and you do not spend it, you cannot spend it on stadium. In real life, manager goes to chairman and talks with him about it, for example "let's not spend the money on transfer, let's build a good stadium". But in the game, chairman just gives you money and he doesn't want to negotiate with you.
And, as I said before, you can't save money through seasons -- at the start of the new season you get new money, read two of my previous posts about it..
Well, this should be enough, see ya everybody
P.S thanx for bringing this topic up. Looks like it is the hottest one around here
