Alves has 4 yellow cards, so he either needs to pick up one more against Mallorca or not play against Billbao next week. We can't afford losing him for the el clasico.
so, according to your strategy, he won't be playing against Athletic either way ... all he needs to do is score against Mallorca, and take off his shirt in celebration ... (he could take off his shirt if someone else scored as well, but it would look a little weird ...)

Messi rested? are you kidding me? mallorca won ALL home matches besides the one against Sevilla.
Messi had a ridiculously purple patch for a while there, but he wasn't very impressive in the last match, and played no active part in either goal ... that may be a sign of fatigue, or a sign that he is not superhuman, as everyone expects him to be ... a rest would do him well either way ... a combination of 3 or 4 out of Pedro, Bojan, Titi, Iniesta, and Zlatan should be able to produce the goals needed to win the match ... plus, the plan is for Dani Alves to score a goal and remove his shirt in celebration, so there is no need to worry about getting goals while Leo is missing ...

well you had a tough schedule last year as well, Chelsea-Real-Chelsea. This time it's Arsenal-Real-Arsenal.

to be honest, I think Pep can rest Messi against Arsenal. You play the first leg away and English teams are so physical.

Oh Gosh stop being overly Dramatic...Barca is not every other team that goes to Ono.....You guys are gonna decide the match in 30 minutes and ride out...no way Pep lets the team play like crap two matches one after the other......

After this weekend everything should be the same in La Liga, i really expect the Clasico to be the more or less decisive match

Well, Mallorca are in 4th place for a reason. I wouldn't overestimate them, and I'm sure Barcelona won't. That being said, it might not hurt to rest Messi and bring him on as a sub if needed.

If pep haven't rested Messi against Osasuna in camp nou because though they were too good, he won't do it against the 3rth best team of the league at home.

Mallorca remind me a very bad memory. Three years ago, Mallorca were 0-1 up against Real and they lost 3-1 at the end, Real won the trophy because of head-to-head (I think Barca won their last match 6-0).

That bastard, Nadal, is from Mallorca as well.

Jeffren starter, messi reserve. Pep as always.
pep as always? what the hell are you talking about? i called it ...even buti called it ... and sevillista agreed ... you're the only blind man around here who couldn't see that messi would be rested :coffe-anim: ... having said that Mallorca have started brightly, if things don't pick up, then sevillista's statement about brining leo on if/when needed would have been the most accurate ...

Xifio dont get me wrong, none would predict a line up with jeffren, even you. Not the first pep surprise, thats what i mean...

I can't speak much about the game since I lost most of it due to some transmission problems. Jefrren as starter was a big surprise. Jonathan had again a good performance with decent passes and direction changes.

Alves yellow card was so so funny but he needed it. We couldn't risk losing him for El Clasico.

We got a very important win in a hard stadium. Only one team didn't lose in Ono Estadi and we are the second one.

Very hard match coming. I can't wait for this game. We play Arsenal and this is one of the matches Barça has an opponent that will come on the pitch to play football, and in most of the time, an entertaining football.

Visca el Barça!

fair enough, Jeffrén starting ahead of Henry was a bit of a surprise, especially after Titi said he did not want to play against the Arse ... but Messi not starting was not at all a surprise ...

and btw 3, Xif, did you see the way Alves took the yellow card? haha Pep was just some steps away. :D
the bastard Dani, he had a smirk on his face as he took the throw-in after getting carded :biggrinx:

And, I'm fucking glad for Ibra. He's coming back at his best form. Man, that pass to Mess with his back was incredible; I only saw Ronnie doing that before.
yup, brought back memories of Ronaldinho; always fun to see the unorthodox things being executed well ... Ibra is a master at it ...

bybuti;2841836 said:
and btw 2, why the fuck Nike came up with those ugly yellow shorts?
I don't like this shade of yellow for the shirts anyway ... I actually thought it looked "better" (relatively speaking) with yellow shorts than with the dark blue shorts ...

overall, that was a hard-fought win, and had a touch of fortune about it (the woodwork did its job) ... I'm of course happy to see Zlatan score for the third game running ... but I was most happy to see him dropping back more, and playing in different areas of the pitch, instead of just being stuck up top ... not too much more to be said, or that needs to be said either ...

looking forward to the Champions League now ...

Berbatov did it today as well.

I think Valdes is without the doubt the most consistent player and most effective after Messi this year. Few keepers can save those nuclear rockets.

yeah, the win was so crucial. As Arnau pointed, Mallorca won all of their Home matches except Sevilla match which was so dramatic.

And I was going to say I like the yellow shorts more than the dark ones and I want to see us playin more in them :D

I think they wear yellow shorts coz Mallorca short was dark as well. Blue is the original color.

But I like it as well.

And I love that Blue shirt, it reminds me a very sweat Memory (you know it?).

I like it too but I hate those collars. I hope we won't use them so soon

Whenever there is a Messi vs Ronaldo discussion, I use that Messi clip. He ****ed Cristiano (I know he's not a defender but that was very cool).

Just saw the replay of ESPN 360. Hate to say it but that was an ugly win. I imagine Pep and Cruyff wouldn't be happy with the result.
