I really like FIFA 11, it seems a far more fun and complete footballing experience than PES 11, and given this is the first time I've delved into FIFA in favour of PES, that's saying something!
Anyway, despite all the good, there are quite a few quirks which I was wondering what others thought about:
1. Crossing. Has anyone noticed that sometimes players do a kind of reverse curling cross? e.g. Running down the left wing, crossing with the left foot and yet the swerve takes it towards the goal... very bizarre. Haven't seen the AI do it as much as my own players, and I'm not even consciously trying to do this bizarre move. Also, crosses do have a tendency to be claimed by keepers on an all-to-regular basis.
2. Long shots. Boy are these hard to score. I've been playing with Hearts in the SPL and I just can't seem to score goals from 25-30 yards. Neither does the AI for that matter. In fact the AI rarely shoots from distance, which is probably just as well given it's so hard.
3. 1 on 1 goals. These are almost the antithesis of long shots in that they are by far the most reliable (and easy) way to score. They also constitute the vast majority of goals scored, for both me and the AI. Online it's even worse! Any tips to defending against this type of goal online?
4. Headers. I guess number 3 above is compounded by the fact that scoring goals from headers is extremely difficult and unreliable at best. Not quite as hard as long shots, as I have scored a few, but definitely a poor man's option compared to the through ball 1 on 1 chances.
5. Freekicks. The AI is just terrible at shooting and scoring from freekicks, nearly always ballooning the ball way over the bar. I've scored one, so they can be done, but the AI's not even come close.
