FIFA World Player of The Year Award

Yup, Ronaldinho, no doubt. Even if Barca won't win anything this year Ronnie has justified he's ''one of the all time best'' hopes that were put on him. Absolutely amazing skills, never before seen tricks and vision that he shows on field now haven't been shown since Maradona's haydays and he's so important to he's team in every match. 70 or even 80% of Barca's goals are scored or assisted by him.
Heil, Ronaldinho!

Lampard

He scores, he creates goals for others, he defends, he can pass, he is consistent, he can win the ball and he consistently works hard to improve his game and was the best player in all of Europe and the world in 04/05.

Leading scorer for his club, and for his country during World Cup Qualifying sums it up. Has scored 25 goals in his last 45 games I think, and has 30 odd assists for Chelsea, that is SUPERB.

Right. And the Pope is a Jew.
He defends, he pressures off the ball and he wins the ball.

ie. His cross against Anderlecht where Crespo scored, won the ball and then performs a perfect cross on his opposite foot.

Lampard is just above average without Makelele, fact.

Exactly. Lampard is a good player, but Chelsea makes him look so much better.

Ronaldinho by a country mile.

I like Lampard, but you're overrating the lad when comparing him to Ronaldinho. He defends better than Ronaldinho, but Ronaldinho's technique and ball control is way superior, his passes are brilliant, and also shots very well. He's more the player that makes the difference.

If this award is about the quality of player, then Ronaldinho deserves it.

What'd be wrong with selecting Cocu or van Bommel? Surely they deserve more credit than Eto'o. He's just in there because he plays for a big club in a big country.

Ronaldinho vs. Lampard in the CL last year....Lampard's team won, but Ronaldinho won the individual battle.
whats more important? Team right....
but who's better? Dinho

Ronaldinho or Lampard winning, the prize would be in good hands.

Ronaldinho Gaúcho is the best player in the world right now.
"oh, lampard is the best midfielder in the world, he can pass a goddamn ball".
"oh eto'o scores goals like garbage and can say 'f*cker' in spanish".

i'm not saying lampard and eto'o are bad, i actually like both very much, but if we're talkin about choosin on of those three, i don't know why anyone should think twice about it...

the best player in the world title is usually given to he who got the most amazing individual skills and he who plays most entertaining football (e.g. Zidane, Ronaldo). Ronaldinho is a more entertaining player to watch becaouse you never know what he will do next, and he got individual skills beyond this world, so that is why he will be named world player of the year.

the only thing ronaldinho doesn't do very well is defending, and imo it's because he his role isn't to do that...but i agree lampard defends better than gaúcho...now, in everything else, and i mean everything, ronaldinho>lampard.

as i said before, lampard is mourinho's work.

well, that's not exactly the point, he could be a Carlos one day and a superstar the other, and lampard is a hell of a player, one of the best in the world, but there's just no point in comparing anyone with ronaldinho gaucho atm...

Lampard is a hard workin' player, arguably the best centre midfielder on the planet... but he doesn't turn things around the way Ronaldinho does!

Ronaldinho is the most umpredictable player in recent years (besides Wes Brown, on a negative side), he's not only magic, he actually makes results, sometimes from impossible situations, Lampard also does, but not as much...

Think about it this way, ur tied 1-1, 70 min, u have both of them on the bench and you can only sub one of them in.... who would you choose to win you the match?

I'd choose Dinho for sure!
