It was over 18 months, so really only 12m was needed. Had to break the bank the next summer with 60m over two years (lot of bayern wages come off the books in 2012) for Hummels which is totally unrealistic, rival our not. They want like 120 for horse, which I'm just not capable of paying ever sadly. Schurrle is wanting out though. Richie De Laet was an awesome free transfer though, so versatile.

Nearing the Jan window I wanted to see if I could get Bannan. I'd generally managed to get offers accepted in the range of 10-15m and had enough money, but his agent would demand 50k wages and a first team status. He withdrew from 3-4 dealings and I was on his dislike list. Meanwhile, Villa were doing poorly and I decided to try again. Got a 14m bid accepted and the agent jumped at my first offer of a backup role and 30k. I realised that I might have been too hasty in offering him such good terms and I also wanted to postpon the transfer for the summer so he could keep developping at Villa, so I cancelled the deal and re-bid. Just then McLeish got sacked and now they want 35m. Damnit.
EDIT: Other than that, currently 2nd with Chelsea, two points off United. Generally done well at home, but pretty poorly away (3 draws in the last 5 matches). Brought in Jordan Lukaku on a free, Kevin De Bruyne for 3.5m but he stays at Genk for the rest of the season, Seamus Coleman for 6.5 and he stays the season at Everton, Verthongen for 9m (chose him over getting Hummels for 35m), and Hazard for 55m (most of it over 4 years, the other transfers were also split this way). Sold Alex for 15m, Ferreira for 1.6m and I dunno who else, sent lots of people on-loan and brought in Zuiverloon for act as cover for RB for the season, with little intention to play him, althoiugh he got some matches. Figured Coleman would be of more use getting regular playing time and there was no talented RB in the youth squad.
Knocked out of the Carling by Norwich in the 2nd round (for us), atfer needing oenalties to beat S****hrope. In Europe (Rangers, Valencia, Dortmund), I got through with a perfect record, using the opportunity to try and unsettle Gotze (little luck) and will face pushed-Milan-to-Europa Partizan in the next round and Bolton in the FA. Lots of ups and downs, but it's generally been fun. Hoping to get Gotze next year, but I'm not too optimistic, since I'm hoping not to saddle the club with more huge transfers that will eat away at our finances for 4 years.

I see here in my Gladbach game entering March he only has 8(4) appearances in the Premier League. You'll get him on the cheap eventually.

I'm such a transfer junky. In mid-Feb now, and I signed Doungu or whatever from Barca for 1.7m in compensation, and in the summer, I have Labyad arriving on a free (young MC from PSV), Kovacic (the above Kovacic) for 7m and Ganso for 20m plus 5 over 4 years. Not to mention Coleman and De Bruyne. I've got Kalou, Anelka and Hilario leaving for sure and no one is on huge wages so I think I can manage it, but christ, I'll have to loan so many players out.
Still hopeful on assembling the cash for Gotze at some point (the board agreed to both extra wage and transfer cash), but I've just offered a contract to Bannan for 13m over 48 months. So... might not be room for Gotze, since next season, the only guy under 24 or so in the AM line will be Malouda, but ****, I want him so bad.

Yeah, I see that. With Hazard, they offered to negotiate it when Lille wanted 70m, but I didn't want to risk paying that much money so I did it myself and ended up paying an overall 55 over 48 months. Not THAT much better, but 55 over 4 years and still have cash to spend in the transfer window is much better than 70m at once and have no more money left.
Dortmund want 125m for Gotze, I think constantly telling the press that I want to blow Klopp has made him dislike me (I also got Gotze to say that he'd like to come, but nothing's formal, so that might have contributed), so I'll just wait and keep trying.

I wound up getting Gotze for 55m, which I'm pleased with. But I think I have a problem, I also very nearly signed Neymar for 45m on deadline day, only for his agent to pull out of the talks when they were very close. I'm a transfer junky. It wouldn't be so bad if I sold players too, but I can only sell fringe players, I have an inability to let club icons like Lamps go even though he's old and getting worse.
