Australia had 3 good chances AFTER Brazil scored the first one. Until then they played with 11 players behind... Even when Australia started to dominated the game Brazil lost some opportunities too.

Had Australia played like that since the beginning, they would have deserved better luck, because Brazil played very bad.
Brazil didn't do much in the first half either. Australia managed at least as many shots on target in the first half, though many were from out of the box. You can't really blame Australia for not coming in the first half with all guns blazing, and risk a Serbia-like drubbing. Especially with the group being so tight for the second place.

Australia had several half chances but didn't take them, Brazil haven't been impressive but their winning.

This must be a setup or something from Brazil. They don't play this bad. To me its their tactics, they play safe to be injury free. If they continue to win every game by a goal then they will win it all.

i thought Ronaldo did alot better than against Croatia, not very good, but not the worst one on the field. i dont know what you people expect him and Adriano to do with those freakin sh*t balls from the midfield. they didnt play fast in the first half, and with that kind of game Ronaldo isnt going to do much. He isnt 20 years old to dribble through a wall of 3 Australians infront of him.
When the midfield starts performing, so will the attack. Ronaldinho's no look high passes are something else too. maybe he should wear a blindfold, they would be exactly as accurate as they are now.

So just use Robinho instead of him.

If Parreira did it the other way, putting on Ronaldo in the 70th min with a 1-0 goal lead, when Brazil is doing those fast counters, it would be exactly the same as it is now...

Oh my oh my Ronaldo, more proff that he needs to be gone this summer ( well I doubt anyone will take him now ). You know for a guy who was resting himself for this WC and always saying in interveiws that he will show his best at the WC, he is doing horrible.

Hopefully Robinho plays more now, how did he do btw?

Sorry to be a pain but as noone ansrewd my question how was Robinho? I think I read that Perriera was giving Ronaldo one more chance and if he did bad again than he would bench him...maybe for Robinho?

Drvar - Your actually sticking up for Ronaldo?

When I say dominating I don't mean scoring opportunies; I mean controlling the ball and trying to win. Australia tried not to lose in the first half, and just that.
After the first goal, that wasn't enough and they started to dominate the game, but let themselves open for the counter strikes.
They could have scored in one of their opportunities, but all things considered, they lack the courage to win against a team on a bad day.

I don't blame them for playing like a small team, but it annoys me to see people praising them for that. I want to see teams with balls in the WC, like Ghana, Ivory Coast, Angola or the Czech Republic.

Robinho did fine. Great movement. However it was kinda annoying see him free on the right side and no one giving him the ball on Fred's goal.

In the post-match interview, he seemed to be aware of the fact that he is a better option for the 2nd half because he is very fast and the defenders will be tired. If he starts, there is no options like him on the bench if need be.
I think Parreira may start with Fred and let Robinho still in the bench.

Australia weren't afraid to get numbers forward. That you have to commend.

A great effort Aussies, you should have no problem getting the result needed against Croatia for a place in the second round.

heh...

dissapointed by the result...

First of all, MoM was defenetely Emerton. Guy did everything he could, playing the ball as he should. Bresciano and Neill did great too (Y)

Effective defense played by Australia (Y) I didn't like Vidukas constant shots at the start of the game but as i imagine, Guus must have said something about it cause it stopped.

Second half was better for both sides i reckon. Australia lacked short passes once they were in the Brasilian area. Too many shots that ended up in Didas hands. Brescianos shot would have made one hell of a goal.
I just hope for Australia to advance to the next stage.

Go Australia :lui:

ohh, and Ronaldo is :| (N) Kaka and Cafu are the only ones that, so far, have got my respect from that team.

the best part of this game is that in the next game Brazil will surely field more reserves

Dida

Cicinho-Luisao-Cris-Gilberto

Juninho-Gilberto

Kaká-Ronaldinho

Ronaldo-Robinho

I hope Brazil play that.

I think in a player by player comparison England and France have better teams than Brazil. It's probably Ronaldinho's best player of the world award that gives Brazil the edge on hype.

Ah thanks (Y), hopefully he gets more playing time.

Ronaldo had three guys watching him when he passed to Adriano to shoot pass one defender. I think he is still good. I would like to see him keep starting until he finds his form. Robinho can always be subbed on at half if he is doing reaaallly bad. Go brasil.

guys i am an aussie born person. so yes naturally i am upset by the loss. however i also look at sport as a neutral. to me the brazilians were winning gold medals for their dives. markus merk was giving fouls for the most smallest bump.

i sat down and i said to my friends who do u think played better out of the 2 teams? they all said australia. i think australia were the better team on the ground. they shut up a form fading ronaldinho but yet somehow they still lose:(

although 1 thing i can say is im very proud to be australian!
