My friends, without soldiers there is no war. Have you ever seen "The people in higher places" take the rifles and charge for the trenches? No, and it will never happen. Because all of them are cowards, who are hiding behind their desks and throwing commands. By themselves they could not do anything, thats why they need masses that are brainwashed that killing people is OK. These masses are called soldiers. And soldiers are the fuel for the war and distraction, while "The people in higher places" is just a torch that bursts this fuel into flame.

Yes, if by "doing its job" you mean killing innocent people. Since when, killing civilians became a common rule in war? Since when killing a child became a norm in a wartime? Even during WW2 it was inhumane and was referred as a war crime to do such things. And that was a time when nations declared total war on other NATIONS. But now it is completely different. Todays crisis in Middle East is so called “war on terror“. A war, on a group within a country, a war against a regime, a dictator. So how is it justifying killing innocent civilians, while your job is to defeat a specific minority group within a country, and infact, make life of those civilians better?

I disagree mightily with the War on Terror, I disagree with fighting a war on an abstract, I disagree with being in Iraq (especially under the pretexts given), I disagree with the neoconservative ethos of spreading democracy. I think you'll find a lot of US servicemen and women do, too. What I was saying to Pede was that it's simplistic to assume that all US military members are child killers and rapists. They may not want to be in Iraq, but they are, and they have a job to do. The revolting actions of a few should not taint the overwhelming majority of army personnel who conduct themselves in a dignified and morally upright fashion.

As for me watching too much TV and being influenced by others, you're living in a fantasy land. They'll never stop fighting wars, for whatever reason - it doesn't mean we shouldn't strive for peace, we should - but a non-violent world will never happen. It's amusing to watch you intellectually grapple with the subject at hand by claiming it's the tool of a "few really bad men" - slow down!
