I MYSELF love FIFA 2002.
it just feels so great to kick it in the dust bin again and again.
I'd love to do the same with the testing persons at EA Sports and all the programmers too ;)

yeah, exactly man, what's the point in EA having that damn licence, they dont deserve it because they aren't using it properly. They have the real player names, but there's no way of knowing who's who on the pitch from the way they play!

I have to make this point......

Everyone complains about the silly skill moves on these games, you complain that they're unrealistic, you can use them all the way up the field, normal players don't do these moves.......

A few questions for you....

1) Is someone forcing you to press these buttons?

2) Is the button stuck down?

3) Is there some god-like force sending the button press command to your systems?

You all moan about these skill moves so much, stop using them if they are so fake and unrealistic. The computer doesn't control the way you play and buttons you press, YOU DO!

I don't use these silly buttons because it takes something out of the game, i'd rather create my own skill/dub play with the directional controller (nothing's quite as amusing as sending your opponent tackling in the wrong direction by just stopping your player).

And another thing......

It seems that no-one seems to like FIFA 2002.....

I can't understand why, it is the most involving, impressive, responsive, realistic Football game in history. The player names and Stats are perfect, the gameplay is slick and fully bug free, the formation options are fantastic.

EA Sports have put together the most comprehensive football game available to the mass market......

Ouch..... My nose has just broken through my wall and hit an airplane............

That last comment should read.....

EA Sports have put together the most comprehensive piece of total and complete rubbish available to the mass market......and at a price that will sell millions.......

Dear HeeroYuy,

A few questions for you.... Consider this scenario:

Youre playing against a friend. Say world class setting. By halftime youre down by 10 goals, just because you refuse to use skill moves that gives its user GOD-like abilities to overcome any possible kind of challenge from his/her opponent. At the end of the game youre down 40 to nil to your friend.

Now. Should you blame....

1)yourself, because youre in "complete" control of your game/destiny/etc. despite your opponent having unfair advantages. You only have yourself to blame.

2)your friend, for using fake/unrealistic moves for the sake of winning. C'mon, wheres the dignity?

3)the game, for allowing cheap/unfair moves that totally ruins the Beautiful Game.

Hmm?

Over-rated? I really don't think so. But I'll tell you what FIFA is. It's a total misrepresentation of what real football is all about. Ever notice that FIFA seems to be the only soccer game that non-soccer fans like. That's probably because it's not really soccer.

1) Yourself, because youre in "complete" control of your game/destiny/etc. despite your opponent having unfair advantages. You only have yourself to blame.

A skillful player with loads of ability, justified self confidence and a bit of luck should be able to beat his skill button pressing unskilled friend, unless the friend is better than the skillful one and uses the skill buttons as well

2) Your friend, for using fake/unrealistic moves for the sake of winning. C'mon, wheres the dignity?

People who use the skill buttons to run up and down the field just aren't playing the game that the way it was intended. I'm sure that's true, but I wonder, EA are a bit dodgy :)

3) the game, for allowing cheap/unfair moves that totally ruins the Beautiful Game.

Well I think this point has been discussed in depth already, so there is no need to comment. I'm sure you will agree :)

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Some good points there I must say, but if half the people that post here are anything like me, then you'll understand that I DO NOT LIKE TO LOSE!

Of course if I've lost, tough, I still don't like it and short of creating a time machine to go back in time, there is nothing I can do about it.

You have one example (your sister) supporting your claim, but I can think of SO MANY people that don't at all like soccer that absolutely LOVE FIFA. Just read most American reviews of FIFA, you know, those guys that give it a 9 out of ten and their article begins, " I have to be honest, I'm not really a fan of soccer..."

I don't like the argument that is made that you can play FIFA with out using realistic moves or real players don't use unrealistic moves or people that use unrealistic moves are not playing the game the way it was intended to be played.

The problem is not he moves themselves, but it's that they are darn easy to pull off. I don't the idea of modifying the way you play so that the game plays differently or 'more realistic'. For every game, there are laws (just like the laws of physics....which some games tend to ignore). The player (us) uses all the laws to do what they want to do, i.e. move the ball upfield and score goals (just like man uses combustion engines to fly because physics says flying by-thyself is not recommended).

When the player (us) has to say, you know, I can beat this defender with XYZ move, but because i want this game to be realistic...I'll use Sonic speed instead, then there is a problem with the game. Because I know (in real life) if Overmars is 1 v 1 with someone, he is going to freaking pull out a special move. Whether he gets past the person or not is 50% chance, some games it is 90%.

As for ISS being over-rated...okay, what's the point?

As always buddy, well said.:) I especially like this:" Because I know (in real life) if Overmars is 1 v 1 with someone, he is going to freaking pull out a special move. Whether he gets past the person or not is 50% chance, some games it is 90%."
True that, true that...

Bottom line, every single individual will play the game in his/her own manner, nobody can say any different, we all have our own playing styles as no two people are alike. As for me, as I said before I don't like using the skill moves. I'm not telling anybody not to, just to stop complaining about them in the first place.

Go ahead, argue those points until your blue in the face, everyone has their own opinion, but you can't force your opinions on to someone else.

"In the land of soccer games, ISS is king"

The undisputed, undefeated, pound per pound the best soccer video game in the history of video games; ladies and gentleman needing no introduction is: ISS Pro Evolution series 1&2, for the PS one. I'd probably played around 100 soccer video games; with the top three being:

ISS Pro Evolution 2 (PS one)
ISS Pro Evolution 1 (PS one)
FIFA International Soccer 95 (Sega Genesis)

No other game brings you closer to the experience of soccer as ISS does. This game anables you to experience all faces of the game; defence and offence. You might not be as explosive on offense but your great defence might keep you in the game. You really have to play this game in order to get to like it. EA sports forgot about what soccer is really about. EA tried to North Americanise the game by making it high scoring, going as far as making the scores look like basketball scores. With no defence to show for. Soccer is about passion, hussle, character, honor and sportmanship; one goal being the climax of a great play of the strugle of the battle. No other game brings you closer to that experience than ISS pro evolution, thus; making it the best ever. Remember that is not about the greatest grafics or having every possible FIFA licence or all the options in the world, it's about bringing you closer to the experience of the game. Sure it would be great to have the amazing grafics and all the licences and the tons of options. Hopefully the XBOX can make it possible if not i'm sure someone down the road will.
