Btw, I met a white family from New Orleans here in Herndon today. I started talking to them and they said "yeah, we're refugees from New Orleans." They're staying with family here.

It's a fact that America is still quite a racist country, not so much in skin colour as it is racist in the wealth and income. The rich will always get treated better (the US health system is a perfect example of this) whereas the poor are left behind and poor people often equal black people.

It's just disgusting how the "President" can send tens of thousands of troops half way around the world within 24 hours but can't provide help for his own citizens. Well of course there's no war that can be based on this tragedy...unless he's going to declare a war on Hurricanes, God forbid!

I haven't really been following this tragedy closely, but a report I saw in the TV yesterday completely stunned me. National Guard, that fake army is doing Carlos ****, noone's helping these people, Bush is just flying over the city, then starts talking about Iraq again, there's no medicine, no water, no food and last but not least people are using that retarded 5th amandement with devestating concequences :| :| :|.

When 9/11 happened I watched the fastest, most professional help/aid operation ever, this time it's beyond retarded, completely ineffective and disgraceful. Bush will have to deal with a politcal hurricane after this, and rightly so.

Good luck to everyone in trouble, my thoughts are with those in need.

The worst thing, the most heart-breaking thing, is the fact that none of this matters. So what if Bush can't get aid and food to the people? None of the political hurricane that is going to follow will change anything. Bush is here for the next 4 years. It is funny how someone can get impeached for getting a blowjob, yet can get re-elected after starting a war, knowing all the info is false. It is something that really makes you think, what the ****?

two words resound continuously.. The people were Black and Poor. "Black and poor.".I doubt its racism. However, I think the mayor was incompetent. He had over 300 school buses all ready. He knew these people didnt have cars. He ordered a mandatory evacuation too late. And then never had these buses working. THey are to this day just sitting there all in the midst of a flood.

Then the people too. You've just been ravaged by a tropical storm, but hell no. We have to steal them banks and plasma TVs.. oh.. lets just rape that girl we always wanted to knock up. Its a free for all.. Its not a storm but a blessing for us, lets make gangs, lets shoot at whatever thats left of the police force, who also desserted and left.

Whats funny is, this sort of stuff never happened in other places hit with such storms. And those were 3rd world countries. You guys want to say Race was involved in the delayed response, why not just say race had a lot to do with the response from the affected people too? The boat does float both ways you knnow.

Only on the surface. It was a big mess and very uncoordinated (not as bad as this now but still bad). The difference is that Bush had someone to blame and a war to start back then.

I'm sorry but that Kanye video looked like a SNL skit. I laughed aloud when he said that.

I think there is no racism in this, i mean if the black people were rich they would have never stayed in New Orleans. They would have evacuated the city a long time ago. I agree that the aid that arrived was very late but they were unprepared and there was poor judgement by the officials, i dont think that they have expected this much of the destruction.

I've been watching all the news and reports for quite a while... and I cannot believe this is happenning in the USA... it's like all the sudden the Hurricane came without prior notice. My impression was -when the hurricane just happened- that the officials already have the 'worst-case scenarios' put weeks/months ago, and that the choppers and trucks, aids, portable mini-hospitals were already on stand-by waiting for it to happen before they interfere.... but that all turned out to be bogus. The ONLY THING going right about the crisis now is the Media Coverage... thumbs up for that, and down for everything else.

It's like the only things going fine are due to individual efforts e.g. Rich families leaving the states going elsewhere, The Sheriff 'swimming' thru the jail, and evacuating the JAIL and keeping the prisoners on some bridge... etc. It feels 'as if' the government was 'surprised' with the hurricane and its outcome.
