I wouldn't say giving a 5% chance is "calling it", but I've had my eye on this all season, and I'm very disappointed it came true. Very cruel fashion too, conceding a late goal and being relegated by a stoppage time goal in Vallecas. I suspect they will be back in a year or two, but I don't think they'll ever play the same way again.Sevillista;3134104 said:Levante won again, maintaining their spot at the top of the table with 7 wins, 2 draws, and no losses. On the other side of the table, Villareal have dropped into the relegation zone.
So I ask you:
What are the odds that Levante qualify for the Champions League? (I say 10%)
What are the odds that Villareal get relegated at the end of the season? (I say 5%)
Lets remember that Real Betis saved themselves on the last day of the season the same year that they played the Champions League, and Real Zaragoza were relegated a season after finishing 6th. Both teams played a great brand of footy, but tumbled down the table almost inexplicably, much like Villareal's current run.
I think they could very well make that kind of turn in terms of success; they clearly have a great farm system in Villareal B, and their team still has that Mercadona money coming from their president. If they do make that turn, though, it will be with a completely new set of faces, and that makes me wonder if their style will take a new direction.MaestroZidane;3234224 said:Maybe they can pull a Newcastle type turnaround...

He definitely has (had) the quality.

Rossi has to rehab successive ACL tears on the same knee. It's gonna be a while before he's back to full force if at all.
