Shame. Doesn't seem that long ago when they were in the semis of the CL against Arsenal where Riquelme missed the penalty that would've sent them to the finals...

I imagine there's gonna be a mass exodus of players, but they should make it to 1st division quickly.

YELLOW CARD: Untrustworthy
So Villareal get relegated while Malaga goes to CL and Levante to Europa league... crazy turn of events.

On a side note, We finished the league with the highest points in history - 100 (Y)

Levante won again, maintaining their spot at the top of the table with 7 wins, 2 draws, and no losses. On the other side of the table, Villareal have dropped into the relegation zone.

So I ask you:
What are the odds that Levante qualify for the Champions League? (I say 10%)
What are the odds that Villareal get relegated at the end of the season? (I say 5%)

Lets remember that Real Betis saved themselves on the last day of the season the same year that they played the Champions League, and Real Zaragoza were relegated a season after finishing 6th. Both teams played a great brand of footy, but tumbled down the table almost inexplicably, much like Villareal's current run.
I wouldn't say giving a 5% chance is "calling it", but I've had my eye on this all season, and I'm very disappointed it came true. Very cruel fashion too, conceding a late goal and being relegated by a stoppage time goal in Vallecas. I suspect they will be back in a year or two, but I don't think they'll ever play the same way again.

Maybe they can pull a Newcastle type turnaround...
I think they could very well make that kind of turn in terms of success; they clearly have a great farm system in Villareal B, and their team still has that Mercadona money coming from their president. If they do make that turn, though, it will be with a completely new set of faces, and that makes me wonder if their style will take a new direction.

With Villareal relegated, Las Palmas in Segunda, and Cadiz in the depths of Segunda B where they belong, La Liga will lose the color yellow unless Alcorcon manage to win the playoff for promotion. We may be getting purple in exchange.

Feel for the poor Villarreal B players. Although I guess they're probably going to get promoted to Villarreal seniors after all those players get sold.

So, Bruno, Borja Valero, Rossi, Nilmar, who else is leaving that people might care about? I wouldn't mind getting Rossi or Valero to Chelsea for some mega-reduced price.

I can see him making a move to an over-medium quality side, like Sevilla than finally making the step to a big club.

He definitely has (had) the quality.

Messi hasn't sustained any significant injuries (thankfully).

Rossi has to rehab successive ACL tears on the same knee. It's gonna be a while before he's back to full force if at all.

Ronaldo were never the same after knee injuries, but his body shape also changed, he was bigger and more muscular.

He had atleast one hard injury per season until Guardiola era. It's all about motivation imo.

Nothing that's required major surgery to repair, and not twice on the same ligament he will be lucky to return a professional football player
