The Descent (horror)

About a group of female cavers (ummm forgot the term for it). Well basically they go tunneling in caves as you do and encounter some god forsaken creatures along the way that are out to kill them, as well as having to put up with each other.

I had to watch this cos it was from makers of Dog Soldiers , but it wasn't comical like that, this was down right edgy stuff. Wasn't scary so to say, but it did have some really edgy scenes. brilliant film. I liked it anyway

I finally saw Platoon on DVD and I have to say I was disappointed. It was a good film but just nowhere near the Apocalypse Now/Full Metal Carlos*et class which some people seem to put it in. I actually prefered Salvador. While Platoon was enjoyable, it was neither believable or particularly insightful and hence a good but unimportant Vietnam film. Mind you, the acting from Willem Dafoe and Tom Berenger was first class. I also never realised that Charlie Sheen was in it playing a similar character to his brothers in Apoc Now.

I also saw Sin City and War of the Worlds this week but have posted my opinion on them in their specific threads.

I really do like some of his work, but some of it is terribly overrated and I dislike him intensely as a person. Born of the Fourth of July is one of the most overrated films I have ever seen and he butchered Tarantino's magnificant script for Natural Born Killers and made it a terrible film. On the other hand, I really like his biopics (JFK, Nixon, The Doors) and really liked Salvador.
