DREAMING

There has been a report that Inter is preparing a massive bid for Gerrard. We have denied it.....

Annual "Gerrard to ____________" rumors.

The player himself said he wants to stay at Anfield. He also said that he wants to win a Premiership title. He also wants a title challenge next season. He'll be 28 and if the club still do NOT win the EPL crown, I have a slight feeling that he might change his mind overnight and ask for a move, saying it is purely for a chance to win the domestic title.

Well, season is over. We spent 55 million and won nothing.

Meanwhile, Aston Villa talks with Garreth Barry have now begun. I can see them challenging for 4th next season, if he stays. If he goes, they'll be competing for a Uefa Cup spot. Apparently, we've undervalued him and the initial offer was certainly not enough. I just think that, if we do get him, he will have to play out of position and underperform...we've got enough of those players already and don't need more.

proposed new home in Stanley Park following a shock decision to delay the building of a stadium in Texas.

Hicks has admitted he has been unable to secure financing for the Glorypark mixed-use development in Arlington, Texas that was scheduled to open in March 2010.

The $500million venture has been put on hold because of the credit squeeze and troubled retail market.

Hicks said in an interview with the Dallas Morning News: 'We are in the most difficult credit crunch I have seen the last 20 years.'

That revelation will give more hope to prospective buyers of Liverpool, Dubai International Capital, who have long believed Hicks - and his estranged co-owner George Gillett - have found it virtually impossible to raise further loans to facilitate the move from Anfield.

It is believed Hicks must find funding over the next few months to build the club's new £350million stadium.

Well, it appears that Juventus might be on the verge of getting Xabi Alonso. I'll be really dissapointed to see him go. He was great during those first two magical seasons really. Dropped off a bit over the past 2 years but that's, in part, due to injuries. If he goes, we ABSOLUTELY HAVE to get Garreth Barry. Although, I heard that one Pablo Aimar(Argentina...29 yrs old) was linked with a move to Anfield, so who knows.....I'd strongly prefer Barry because he's younger.

Kewell has gone and with a sour taste in his mouth....he wasn;t given a chance to prove himself, and he had a LOT of injuries over the course of his stay with us.

Even though i like Kewell, his departure will save us a good bunch of money. Let's face it, he never really performed while he was fit apart from some good spells here and there and he just gets injured too much. We can replace him with someone in the same kind of wages who will provide us with the goods way more than he did.

I agree on Kewell, what shocked me though was that he was actually offered another deal. It was pay as you play I think, and he turned it down. Really shows you what his motivation is like and the only thing he is interested in is money.

I'd expect him to end up at some mid-table side like Middlebrough who will be daft enough to pay him 50k a week. Needless to say he won't spend much time on the pitch.

Glad he's gone, been carrying him for too long imo.

Kinda disagree with you there mate. Considering the play time he gets, pay as you play is a terrible deal. People tend to think of footballers as machines or something else, but the truth is, they are employees doing their job and nothing else.

If he gets a better deal elsewhere, good for him. When a guy gets a better deal at another company and leaves, he's "doing it for his career" and he's "doing the right thing". When a footballer does the same he's a moneywhore?

I'd hate it if I were on a "pay as you produce the goods" deal... I guess Kewell would feel the same, even though he does have a lot more zeroes in his contracts......

It's over now.....time to move on.

We need signings.......NOW!!! What the hell is Rafa waiting for???? The entire world is NOT playing at EURO....

BTW, Gerrard said that he is desparate for Garreth Barry at Liverpool. IF the 6+5 rule comes into effect, it would be good to have more English players than what we've got now. So, as much as it pains me to say it, we might have to sell Xabi Alonso to Juve this summer.

The best thing is that I will be a journalist that day, so I will actually shake hands with Stevie and Torres! :D

EDIT: I'm not sure why they wants to meet Vålerenga, but why not. It's cool for the LFC fans in Oslo, and actually the norwegian supporter club will celebrate something the day before in Oslo, so both The Kops and Klanen (VIF-fans) will make something big in Oslo the day before the match. Will be the best thing this summer for sure.

Hehe, from Oslo to Rio.. thats far away. ;-)

So 13 million GBP Garreth Barry bid rejected, by Villa. Next, is an 18 million GBP bid....apparently. Villa value him at 20 million GBP.....we're being squeezed for cash and Villa are going to get it. Apparently, Xabi Alonso's sale to Juventus will be announced next week....perhaps Barry's arrival will also be around that time.

"Liverpool and Chelsea are both big clubs with a lot of attraction," David Villa said in the News of the World.

"Liverpool have a Spanish coach and I also have a lot of friends there," he said.

"When Rafa [Benitez] was coach at Valencia and I was at Zaragoza there was contact about me joining Valencia but I couldn't arrive until the year after he left there."

Sorry, but under the system being currently used by Rafa, it just wouldn't work. Alonso/Garreth Barry(?) and Mascherano as CMs, Kuyt on RW, Pennant/someone else (Garreth Barry?) on LW, Gerrard as AM and Torres as ST.

The only possibility (to make it happen) would be if Gerrard drops back into the CM position, Alonso is sold and (if bought) Garreth Barry plays as a LW. In that case, it may be a 4-4-2 system that would have to be employed to fit this guy in and I just don't think that Rafa would like using 2 up front.

OH, and ofcourse, money is another issue....I don't know if we can afford to spend that much on one player.

Well, Jon Arne Riise has left for Roma for 4 mill GBP. I thought that he did a good job for us when he was used regularly. I think that he ran out of form when he wasn't first choice and couldn't get it back with substitute appearances. At 27, you'd have thought that he'd have a lot still left, but we couldn't fit him in. Roma's getting a good player, if he gets playing time that is and I suspect he will.

Well, tomorrow will the match here when Liverpool come be sold out. It is already sold over 50% of the stadium capacity, and tomorrow will the tickets for "normal" people be sold too. Klanen (VIF-fans) and Liverpool norwegian support has already bought their tickets.
