Here we go again, bitterness in every aspect of this post. You make it sound as its easy just to go out and buy players and win the title. But why couldn't Ranieri achieve that in his first season? I don't think I need to reiterate again that changing managers also mean changing personnel. Mourinho bought in the players he trusted(Carvalho, Ferreira, and Tiago), like what Harry's done at Spurs. Ranieri bought a whole lot when he was given money, Mourinho did the same but more effectively.

And you're clearly hiding the fact that Rafa's wasted a lot of money on players by saying that "Chelsea wasted a lot more".
Well, I thought Robbie Keane's purchase was the biggest joke this season, too bad you guys were on the receiving end of it, huh?

And stop defending Le Arse for their inability to buy experienced players and not able to keep players who have come through.(Hleb and Flamini for example)
Arsenal are capable of spending on experienced players but Wenger chose not to, and blaming other clubs for doing otherwise and spend is just plain daft.

Saying that we bought our status as one of the big four is discrediting the fact that we were well on our way to establish ourselves as a top team, you are dismissing the efforts of our players prior to the Abramovich era, the likes of Petrescu, Flo, Hasselbaink, Gronkjaer, Zola, Wise, Vialli, Hughes, Guddy, Lamps, Cudicini, Melchiot and so on.

"Money will not ruin the game.....it has already ruined it."
Are u trying to start part 2 m8? We've already had one about City early on. If your theory is correct, City will win the league next season. And that would do me just fine, more clubs capable of winning the league, more competition, more moaners and whiners from the "long established" top teams.

I never said Chelsea wasted money.....you guys spent a lot of money...and you spent most of it wisely....you made some crucial additions.....additions that were only possible through the money that became available to you, and not other clubs, overnight.

The ability to do that comes from........having money to spend....that other clubs DON'T!

A top 4 team team, maybe.....but not the TOP team that was able to win the league, which is really what I'm concerned with. Without the millions, you wouldn't have cracked the top 2.....you'd be competing with Newcastle and us for 3rd. 97-98-->you finished 3rd and 98-99 you did the same....but that was it. For crying out loud, the next time you finished in the top 4, you were 16 points behind ManU and 11 points behind, Arse in 02-03, and you BARELY finished 4th!!! You most certainly were NOT establishing yourselves as a top 4 team, much less the top team.

Efforts of Melchiot, Zola, JFH, etc......how many League titles did they win? It's the same with us......unfortunately, as much as I hate to admit it, Berger, Owen, Fowler, McMannamanm, etc........never did ****, other than competing for a bunch of mickeymouse cups.....that's all! We finished 5th, 4th, 3rd and then 2nd.....we WERE far more effective in establishing ourselves as a top 4 team than you....but it never happened and so I would have to dismiss the efforts of all our players, from those seasons, as well. It's not good enough to improve and improve if you still cannot win the title.

As far as the bitterness is concerned, YES, I AM bitter! Very!!! Frankly, if you don't like it, or anyone else for that matter, quite honestly I couldn't care less!

Flo

EDIT: 2-0 over West Brom....Carragher was screaming at Arbeloa for sluggish defending. Who says we're just going through the motions!!!

Now you think you're Nostradamus? Without millions? No team can survive in the Premier league without millions, but if you're implying that we probably won't be the team as we are right now without Roman's funds, I would agree, but the same goes to other clubs and their owners when they had takeovers, just the difference was that we were lucky that our owner was a Russian billionaire.
But who's to say that we might've not cracked top 2? Who knows. We were still attracting the likes of Desailly, Petit, and plenty of other stars in world football. And being a London club in itself attracts plenty of decent footballers for lifestyle reasons as well.

And yes we were massively in debt at the time, but our qualification to the CL was probably the deciding factor which determined our future.

Well, here go. This is why I hate talking to fellow fans of the Big Four in England. You see, what you call Mickeymouse cups is probably a result of the spoilt-brat syndrome, and with Liverpool's massive amount of silverware in their history its understandable.

For clubs that are outside the top-four, Everton and so on, these competitions are probably the only chance they have of outgunning the financial muscle and superpowers of England. And to say that they've been going for insignificant trophies is just plain ignorant.
Its simple with these competitions, the team that wants to win the most over the 90 minutes(added with replays) win.
Last season when we went out to Barnsley in the FA Cup because they wanted to win more than us, but this doesn't undermined the significance of the FA Cup, same goes with Carling Cup this season. I do have relations with people and family members who support smaller clubs(likes of Watford or example), and growing up watching us getting knocked out constantly by the likes of Utd and Le Arse, Viking, etc made me appreciate whatever we've achieved so far.

As far as the bitterness is concerned, YES, I AM bitter! Very!!! Frankly, if you don't like it, or anyone else for that matter, quite honestly I couldn't care less!

Well, next time you want to be bitter, be bitter about your club and its over-attachment to history(which goes for some fans) that is now domestically matched by Utd. I guess this season Liverpool finished strongly because they felt the urgency to stop Utd from matching the record of titles. So next season should be more interesting for all of us.
But next time u want to slag us off in your thread at least be more cheeky about it.

As for Flo, don't slag him off just because he went on telly for a dance. Its better than Gerrard being caught at the pub drunk and picking fights.

he'll score a double hat trick causing us to lose second place to chelsea and fire benitez for clearly being in the wrong for selling Keane back to Spurs

nice scenario mate. for that you sould loose and chelsea should get a victory with 4 goals, not impossible.

There, Keane scored, like we all knew he would. Second place, only two losses. Yes, it means we drew too many matches we should have won, but I'm proud of where we are now... I still think Rafa can take us to the premier league title, though it won't be easy.

I can't really see us doing a lot during the summer when it comes to activity in the transfer market, but I hope I'm wrong. Barry would be an option only if we sold Alonso, but I don't think it'll happen (and I believe it shouldn't). We still don't have a decent winger, so maybe Silva? Tevez wouldn't be used and he'd end up being frustrated here, so I guess he won't come. I don't see us linked to many players these days... but now that Owen has been relegated, there'll be talks he would come back... I love him to bits, but his wage would be too high, and he would be underused, not to mention his injuries...

I think Benitez should've given Sami a bit more time. C'mon, the lad has played for the team for ten years, it's his goodbye match, fan's chanting his name, forming his name in the audience and you only give him 10 minutes on the pitch. It's not like it was an important game or anything.

1. Steven Gerrard
2. Javier Mascherano
3. Fernando Torres
4. Jaime Carragher
5. Yossi Benayoun

The five men who got you where you are this season, IMO. I'm a broken record regarding Yossi, but the man is the quintessence of super-sub. Should be a regular starter, even with the rotation policy.

Dirk Kuyt should be on that list as well. He scored crucial goals, and his work rate shouldn't be questionable.

I actually consciously left him out. I personally think he's overrated. Out of interest, how many times has he conceded 3 or more goals ina match? Because I assure it was more than Cech, van der Sar, or any of the big-name keepers. Same goes for 2 goals or more, I think. A good keeper, definitely, but not in the Top 5 of your players.

To be honest i also think he is a bit overrated, our defense help him a lot but i still like him for penalty shoot outs

My top 5 Liverpool players this season:
1-Steve G.
2-El nino Torres
3-Xavi Alonso
4-Dirk Kuyt
5-Yossi Benayoun

If he is not mentally strong enough to deal with that, then that's his problem....not ours. Our problem is when he collects his 20 million EUROS at the end of the year and has ZERO trophies to show for it.....THAT'S WHEN WE HAVE A PROBLEM WITH HIM!!!
