Didn't watch the game. That was an expected outcome though wasn't it? No need to pile all the shit on Rooney. Not his fault if he is being used poorly. I don't think he should have even played after being injured. He had to get a pain killer injection before the game.

Can't blame the guy, it is his first time being in that competition :)

It's never his fault is it? Whenever he has a bad game the excuses get chucked around. "He isn't fully fit", "He runs around a lot so he's trying" etc.

The fact of the matter is that he's just not good enough anymore. He's not as quick as he once was. His first touch has gotten worse. His good spells of form are getting further and further apart. His bad spells are getting worse. He hasn't looked after his body like a professional should. Running around and showing some effort does not make a player great.

Rooney was a disgrace last night. Moyes was too. He might not have been fit, but some of the very basics of the game were beyond him. He couldn't control the ball. Couldn't pass. Couldn't shoot. Then he had the nerve to blame his teammates. Do you think he faced the press afterwards like a future captain should? Nope, Michael Carrick went out instead. If we had won you'd bet your ass he'd be standing on front of those cameras.

Maybe he is "not as good enough anymore" as you say but he is still productive. 15 goals and 10 assists in 27 games is not bad for a player who is "poor" or "not good enough anymore. He is certainly more productive than Ozil who cost 40 millions and has 4 goals and 8 assists and plays the same position.

They shouldn't be playing in the same position. Rooney needs discipline and to stay further up the pitch.

For £300k you want more than what he has provided. Look who the goals are against. Man City and Tottenham are the only decent teams he's scored against. That was 4 months ago. Since then he has failed spectacularly against Stoke, Arsenal, Liverpool, Man City and Bayern Munich.

For the money we're paying for him, he has to show in the big games. He has nobody to blame but himself. Ferguson knew he wasn't good enough anymore and had it all set for him to be sold. Moyes came in without a backbone and rewarded him with a contract he didn't deserve.

There is a reason Ferguson dropped him against Real Madrid last season. The stats are not going to cover up the fact that he has been utter toilet.

Worst thing is he will be captain next year. The man has shown no leadership. Moans at his teammates when he fucks up. Doesn't turn up for interviews when we lose. Holds the club to ransom multiple times for new contracts.

It's all good though. When we're losing he'll drop back to CM and punt the ball in all directions hoping one of them will go in the general direction of a teammate.

I will keep it short and simple.

1. Who of all United players have been good this season against big sides? No one. Not even van Persie or Mata. So don't blame him alone.

2. Rooney is overpaid. I agree with that. If we let him leave, would we have gotten a replacement? Who is gonna play for a europa or no europe team? A replacement of similar quality would have costed 40 millions and salary of 250k. E.g. Ozil. Who is not better.

3. He scored quite a few in big games bar this season. Liverpool and Everton are games he always struggled in but he scored quite a few against City or Chelsea.

I agree with the leadership part. He shouldn't be captain.

He is not the kind that would score every game. He is not a poacher. He plays a different role.

Also to blame him after a bad performance against Bayern is ridiculous. He was 25% fit, had to play with painkiller injection. That moron manager still played him 90 minutes.

As a senior squad member shouldn't he have the head to say, I'm not fit for this match, I won't be able to perform..or even I'm not able to perform I should ask to be subbed

1.) nobody and that needs to be fixed. Starting at the highest paid down.
2.) Rooney's goals can be replaced by Chicarito/Welbeck and his assist can be replaced by Kagawa/Mata. With these playing in their natural positions the team will be more balanced. No money needs to be spent there as it's out strongest area.
3.) that's my point, all his good performances are in the past and that he has peaked already. It's all downhill from here.

I'm not basing this on one game. I'm judging this on the last couple of seasons. He's getting worse and there's no way back.

1. Agree
2. You may be right but did we do better when Rooney was injured? We didn't have Mata then but Kagawa played a few games behind RvP or Welbeck. We played worse without him for sure. That may be different now that we have Mata
3. That's true. He is still solid IMO but he is at the end of his peak.
