Valencia just skinned two Arsenal players down the right - only to be cynically chopped down by Sagna (yellow card)

Van Persie hits Arsenal's clearest chance against Evra. It's heating up. Arshavin over the bar!

25:00 Rooney looks isolated upfront, Giggs is struggling to make any kind of impact too. Wasted a good opportunity with another lax pass. In fact that's the way to describe his performance so far.

30:00 United have a freekick right on the 18 yard line, to the left of the D.

Inches wide from Rooney. Gallas booked for the foul.

Is it coincidence that Old Trafford is chanting Anderson's name? Or are they feeling as I am?

Another United breakaway fails because Giggs is caught in possetion. And then he gives the ball away AGAIN - he's having a mare out there today.

Evra booked, he has been putting himself about a bit :)

United weathering a storm - BRILLIANT tackle by Fletch.

Arsenal score - 0-1 from nothing. Arshavin.

Fergie has to change things, we don't have the speed on the counter - Giggs is slowing us down.

Half time. Behind to a goal from nowhere. My assessment so far as I said, United are suffering on the counter attack, Giggs is slowing us right down - Sir Alex has to replace him with Anderson.

We cannot afford to lose this.

I think that was a clear penalty, I think Arshavin GOAL was justice. And that GOAL was fantastic. I'm sure Fegie will change things and we will win the match.

JUST BELIEVE, UNITED WILL NEVER EVER DIE

Terrible tactic from Ferguson. 4-5-1 is not for Rooney and Valencia. Why are we trying something new against Arsenal? The whole problem has been Rooney having 2 defenders on him all the time, which is extremely easy because there is no second striker to support him, so our attack is just ****. Fergie what are you thinking?

The system worked in the Semi last season, but then we had you know who. As I said though, the midfield is not working and Giggs looks half a yard too slow. We nearly just lost another goal!

dude there's a match thread for this, do you really need to be flooding this one?
unless you prefer to discuss the match incidents with basically yourself.

I have to say Giggsy looks a different player in the second half. United look a different team as a whole.

69:00

Good pressure for United - Evra tests Almunia (who looks like he has a dead skunk on his head)

Eboue booked for diving. (Y) And he's off for Bentner who curiously has 52 on his shirt.

Wow, what a game. Wenger's sending off was a bit to much in the end. I have to admit, Arsenal were the better side. We kept on fighting and it sure wasn't pretty, but we got a win out of it. Totally different second half from us, much much better. We should have buried the chances in the end, but I am very happy with the end result. Berba did great in the little time he played. And Fletcher, wow!, he kept on going and going, surely one of the best today...

I wouldn't say it worked. It worked against one team (Arsenal) who were killing us, until we got a really good counter-attack and from then on another goal came and the game was over no matter what we played. The system proved to be ineffective in the second game we tried it against Barcelona.

This team needs some real shake-up in their heads. Nani and Berbatov both should have put those away, they were terrible misses. And Rooney, wtf was that in the last minute. He has a ball and just lets i think Clichy take it off his foot, doesn't protect it nothing just stands there and doesn't even chase it, hoping that the rest will do the job. Its not over till the whistle is gone and THANK GOD, today we were extremely lucky for Gallas to manage to get into an offside position. Otherwise Arsenal would have had a completely deserved draw. Nah, they deserved a win, not a draw. We had nothing upfront until Arsenal just threw everybody forward and let Berbatov and Nani roam around for fun. I guess that's karma for the Burnley game. But i'm extremely happy with the win, however, the tactic and the commitment and the game was just bad. Foster, Fletcher, Evra and Vidic and maybe a little bit Rooney are worth mentioning only. I don't know how Arsenal really lost that one to be honest.

As always we fund a way to come up with essential three points. You can call it luck ... whatever .... It was a fantastic and I mean fantastic match and as I said the winner is United, no doubt about that.

But I should give credit to Arsenal as well, they played fantastic match as well. Football is so ruthless, Van Persie lost that oppurtunity, he hited the bar as well and then BAAAAANG, Diaby Own goal.

Rooney = passion (he wanted to take that ball with his head, OMG)
Nani and Berba could kill it at the end and I'm so dissapointed with that. The end was the mess, Rooney let the ball go, then they scored, offside, wenger sent off.

At the end three sweet points. Am proud to support United.

I'm glad they did - and I'm glad they lost THIS one. We needed some luck and for once we got it.

After the Liverpool vomit inducing comeback (how many times have they had a man sent off against them? ) I felt some good luck was coming.

Emanuel Eboue is a red, he hates Gooners!! :33vff3o:

Important win today. Although it must be said arsenal deserved something from the game. Performance wise, we were pretty rubbish up until that penalty. Still waiting for a good team performance from united. Yea and i hate the idea of giggs supporting rooney in attack. The formation we played today reminded me of the barca game. We totally suck at 4-5-1.

By the way..it was one heck of a crazy game.

Well that would explain why no-one else was replying! I missed our second goal because I was typing too. :innocent_smile_1:

Chuffed with the victory, though as is the United way we made it difficult. Fletcher and Rooney were immense, Nani had a good game too and Foster made a brilliant save as well.

I wasn't convinced with the formation - or with Giggs in the middle, though he played much better second half.

Oh, I checked on Madrid on Sky, those cheeky sods at the Bernabeau have nicked our "Viva Ronaldo" song! Not that we'll be singing it at Old Trafford anytime soon - he's not remembered with fondness given the manner of his departure.

Also saw the Milan Derby on ESPN, Sneijder looked impressive - we could have done with him today, United missed the boat on that one.
