Smith is not a midfielder. Don't be fooled, it's just not gonna happen.
I felt Smith played very well today, more of a holding role rather than a box to box player though. Then again, Villarreal were very average today.

our midfield was piss poor today...

smith never really looks like a centre midfielder sadly...

fletcher did ok.. show a lot of energy.. but most of the time going nowhere...

scholes.. well, he seems to hold on to the ball for a very long time... and as a result lose possesion..

And I was pissed with O'Shea too, terrible ball control and hoofs the ball into nowhere and its starting to become his trademark. quite frustrating. :boohoo:

He suprised me actually. Only thing wrong with him today was that his tackling was slightly miss-timed. If he's to become a midfielder, then he needs to time his tackles a lot better.

rooney was coming way too far back, I even saw him and rio string together like 4 passes in a row, I mean yes I like him dropping back in the midfield and playing the free role, but not that far. Smith was good I thought, yes his tackling was mistimmed, like slowsilver said, but as he keeps on playing, especially since keane is out, he will get comfortable and learn and get better.

Ferguson refuses to defend Rooney :jambo:

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said striker Wayne Rooney deserved to be sent off in Wednesday's Champions League draw in Villarreal.
Rooney was dismissed for sarcastically applauding referee Kim Milton Nielsen after receiving a yellow card.

Ferguson said: "I don't think he (Rooney) gave himself a chance. You can't applaud the referee like that.

"The referee may have picked his prey giving Wayne a yellow card, but I think he had no choice with the red."

Heinze out for weeks? :nape:

Ferguson's troubles were compounded by an injury to defender Gabriel Heinze, who could be sidelined for weeks after damaging a knee against Villarreal.

"We'll have to examine it and he'll probably have a scan but it looks like he'll be out for a few weeks anyway," said Ferguson

Never thought that a twat like him could make any sense, lol.

If you take away Rooneys temper, he won't be half of the player. It's just how he is...We should'nt judge Wayne. It's not like Cantona or Keane are any better.

Nah, Patrick's cool. I think a year ago he said that Fergie is like one of the best managers in the world and he really respects him. It's just Wenger that used to wind him up before United games, with his crazy statements like the one that they were the best in the country after winning the FA Cup but losing the EPL to us.

The Red Devil
Biggest game of the season, Neville, Heinze, Keane out, no decent center-midfielders, Queerarse tactics, I can see us getting fucked by the granny stabbers on Saturday unless a miracle happens.
