Man Utd's current aim should be one and one only, rebuild this peice of sh1t midfield. The goals will naturally follow, ruud or not. Whether is Diarra, Makoun, Mascherano, etc etc, jus buy some players in the position and we should be good. Once Giggs and O'shea are replaced with real MC's, we got ourselves a formidable team again.

Strikers.....i'll tell you something about strikers, they come and go like Ronaldinho's French women, a good midfield and defensive core however are the foundations of a successful team. Ruud can go, ruud can stay, whatever, we need to fill the useless space between Evra/Giggs and Ronaldo with some quality.

But its all in Fergie and Glazer's hands now, how effective will they be at finding not just any player, but the right players who will fit into the united system.

yeh whats the point of buying a quality striker if he's going to be getting a limited service if O'sh-te and Fletcher are in the centre.
Saha could replace Ruuud if only he wasnt so injury prone, but their top priority should be a Keane replacement and another strong midfielder

Whats the point in buying a quality midfielder with no-one to service?

I really hope Ruud stays, or the best thing would be a swap with Shevchenko - which i highly doubt would happen but it would be a dream come true to have Sheva play for United.

Saha, Rossi and Smith aren't goalscoring machines, like Ruud.... they'll never deliver the same amount of goals as RVN did... maybe Rossi, in a few years time... he still needs much development, and for the this next season at least, i don' see him, Saha or Smith saving Man Utd from finishing 3rd or 4th in the EPL, if Fergunson doesn't reinforce that central midfield...

Saha is a good player, fast and has some skills... but when it comes to scoring goals, he's nowhere near an in-form (even off-form) RVN! Smith... well.... decent striker, very hard-working player... but he'll never be the solution... he's a very good backup player, but i really don't think he gots what it takes to be a regular in a Man Utd first team... this team needs World Class strikers... a team of this magnitude needs to have two Top10 strikers at their ranks... and i guess Smith doesn't even fit in a Top20!

You already got one of the best: Rooney!!! You need another one... an in-form Adriano, for instance... of course i'm not especulating of him coming to Old Trafford... just saying that, it would be awesome for you, to have a Adriano-Rooney partnership for the next season, plus some world class central midfielders! (H)

As for CR... this kid can be very imprevisible... much has been said about him, but one thing is for sure: the kid has got loads of talent and speed... if SAF can grow him into a more mature and hard-working player, you'll have the BEST in a few years time!!!

To be honest, if Fergie brings in another striker, then Rossi will probably be finished at the club. Sometimes, we have to let it all go and in the few occasions that Ruud hasn't played with us, we won some of them, didn't we not? Talking about Ruud, you guys have faith in him, why not have faith in Rooney, Saha, Smith and Rossi? I'm sure Rooney would improve his finishing and Saha can be a 20/30 goals striker per season(which he did in the season he moved to United) if he stays fit and not get long-term injuries.

Why not we look at Chelsea? How many of their strikers have got 20+ goals per season? And they did win the league didn't they? How about Liverpool? Even without a 20+ goal striker they managed to hound us down in third. One man doesn't make a team, if United was a one-man team, then it would be Rooney, not Ruud. Some things you have to let go.

And to be honest, creating more service is better than rather no service.

United are no one man team... We are not england...we can survive without rooney.

yeah that showed and that's why Rooney was the only one of the whole squad that didn't get a rest by the scot...

Yeh, you can never have too many wingers. Sometimes, when Ronaldo ain't playing well, get Ribery in. May push Ronaldo to provide better performances in matches.

I can't wait for our first signing, I have faith in SAF and I think that he isn't blind to see that we need a creative midfielder,

I dont mind getting Ribery at all...after we sign 2 great defensive midfield players this summer. If we dont, I'll personally shoot Ferguson in his face.

I agree! Ruud is one of the legedens, but we have to let it go!

In my opinion in the last two seasons we played better without him! We were more dangerous, we were attacking with 4 or 5 players, opponents did not know which of the players will come forward to score! Players have created for each other! When Ruud is playing we mainly just try to create for him..its kind of predictable.

i think it cant be told how we fair without Ruud... cannot be based on few matches. But of course i will be glad if we stop relying on players like Ruud and Rooney to score for us

I believe Ruud's poor performance in the last half season was mostly due to our poor midfield. He doesn't have the support he usually have and he needs good midfielders to score and thats why he's so good for Holland... I'm sure Ruud's still the same, its just that he didn't have the suitable players to provide him with the chances... Just think about it. His poor performance coincided when both Keane and Scholes were out. You cannot rely on Fletcher and O'Shea to get good passes and deliveries. If Fergie find the right midfielders, then I'm sure he'll regain back his form.

I don't think it's a matter of form. Sir Alex made mention that Ruud had been sent home for the good of "team spirit" I think it's his attitude towards some of his team-mates that is the problem.
Incidentally I don't think Ruud has been in poor form recently and the fact remains he is still a very prolific goalgetter, however if he is causing friction (and I mean IF) then Sir Alex must consider the many over the individual. I'm hoping it can be resolved I'm certainly not trusting the press over their reports. Now they're trying to unsettle Cristiano by claiming he has said he wants to leave for Spain (funny how there are never any direct quotes  )
