NHL Players Lockout

Ive seen it before.

I remember the Devils doing it with Brodeur and the Avalanche doing it with Roy.

Has anyone ever wondered why when killing penalties and in the offensive zone, why doesn't the team on the PK pass the puck back to their goalie if they get possession? Granted, that most goalies are no where near as good as Brodeur with the puck, it would still kill about 15-20 seconds off the clock. Kind of a confusing concept, if someone doesn't understand it, say something and i'll give an example

i think its too risky. if you get someone who is really good and keeping the puck in the corner in the offensive zone you can kill nearly the whole penalty. thats one of my jobs on my team and im really good at it. my soccer skills help a lot because i can kick the puck around along the boards and use my arms/stick to push other players or hold myself on the boards.

I say that because usually when I was on the PK and the puck just came out over the blue line I would usually back up with the puck and try to kill time and maybe force the team to change their line. It's pretty easy to back up to your own half of the rink, and if they come out at you too fast you can fire it back in or do a D to D pass.

It's obviously risky but under certain cirumstances(like the example I just gave above) it could work out, the problem is that the team on the PK is on the breakout already because they want to get up the ice as fast as possible.;)

I only mentioned the idea because I think it could work with a goalie like Brodeur. I obviously wouldn't even think about trying it with someone like Roy or Irbe in net. Both were complete garbage handling the puck. Yes, I DID say Roy was garbage handling the puck.:hump:

Oh yeah, I thought of another potential situation. Let's say your a defencemen backchecking against a single forward. It's a battle between two of you for the puck, the usual play(when there's no time to try carry it back out) is to try and get the puck off of one of the sides. What if you could pass it back to your goalie and then let him fire it up the boards or whatever.

Man, can you tell I miss hockey or what? I think tommorow when I finish class at 10:30 i'm gonna go play shinny, i'm going nuts.:p

Long time I don't post in this thread.

TSN has made the best damn solution I've seen anywhere. The idiots at the NHLPA and the NHL should sit down and tweak the numbers slightly and work out a deal using this as a framework:

(Y)(Y)

CarlosDanger, shinny is the greatest. They charge $10(goalies are free) and it goes from 10am-2pm. Basically it's just end to end breakaways and I just end up trying all kinds of fancy moves i'd never do in a game.:crazyboy:

But the part about women wearing less clothes does sound nice, I'm trying to get away in December after exams and head to Argentina and Punta del este for a 3 weeks.

Yeah....I played shinny in University (UBC Vancouver) almost every day....(H) SHINNY ROCKS
:rockman:

But I guess when I decided to move here I knew I would have to give up some things......

The TSN Solution....sounds good to me.....

Even though I only get hcokey on ESPN Dos with Mexican comentators who know nothing about the game, I still miss it!!
I remember in one game, they were talking about this great shot by Brett Hull that the goalie stopped with his glove (Vaya Salvada!!!) and it was just a routine glove save, nothing spectacular......but oh well, It's not Bob and Harry, or Joe Bowen, but at least it's hockey

BRING IT BACK!!!!

Not anytime soon.

The NHLPA and the NHL both "hated" the TSN solution. Obviously it wasn't perfect but a little tweaking could make it perfect. The player's said it was "too anti-player" and the owners said "they might as well sell 14 of the 18 franchises"(implying they're still gonna lose money.

Looks like we'll be without hockey until after Christmas, I hope.:(
Shinny again tommorow. (H)

proud? not really.

With NHL off menu, CSN has subs --- You will like this
Posted on Fri, Oct. 08, 2004

Comcast SportsNet will throw some morsels to starving NHL fans starting this month. The cable channel will air a slate of Phantoms games beginning Oct. 22. It will release the schedule for those games next week.

CSN also will air 10 "classic" Flyers games in an invented-for-the-lockout show called Hungry for Hockey.

Keith Jones and Al Morganti will host rebroadcasts of vintage games - in a studio set up as a kitchen. They'll cook food that "ties into the games," Comcast announced.

The first game, Oct. 14 at 7:30, will be Game 6 of the 1987 Stanley Cup finals against the Edmonton Oilers. Jones and Morganti will make "Canadian Club Sandwiches." (Are they the kind with whiskey in them?)

For an Oct. 20 airing of (H) Game 6 of the Flyers' 2004 Eastern Conference semifinals against the Maple Leafs (H) , it will be "Flyers Puckcakes" with maple syrup and sausage. Bon appetit! Flyers head coach Ken Hitchcock will be a celebrity guest for those two airings. Assume he'll help with the analysis and the eating. Biscuits in a basket, anyone?

--- I cant wait for this. Especially since i was too young to see the 87 playoff run.

i wonder if they will show more Hartford Wolfpack games with no Rangers hockey, they often show Wolfpack games on MSG when nothing better is on

I just saw in the paper that Chris Chelios is picking up bobsleding. He is getting trained by the US Olympic gold Medalist ( idk his name i don't have the article in front of me) and wants to be on the Greek Olympic bobsled team for the 2006 Olympics.
I laughed when I read this.

Yeah I read that... it's funny, reminds me of Cool Runnings.

Instead of "Jamaica we have a bobsled team, one Dorese and one Junior..." it's: "We are the Greeks, we have a bobsled team, one Costas, and one Zorba..."

Well the 4 nations cup for U-17 sr=tarts this week in Rochester. Which is the best 17 year old from the USA, Russia, Slovakia, and Switzerland. Most of these players will be ni the 2006 NHl draft( if there is an NHL) On the USA roster is a kid named Kevin Montgomery who I went to school with when I was young and were good friends. I even played my first year of soccer with him. Hopefully I can find some time and maybe get to see one of the games.
