You will see fouls. I was kind of unlucky in this match above, the CPU had no reason to foul me. They were on top of the game. I have just played a game though and witnessed the CPU have two players' sent off. I scared the hell outta' them with the chances I had haha.

But a match with too many is also unrealistic.

Of course! And it must be remembered that my update is not aimed at a full 90 minute game. You can have a thrilling match for 20 minutes and witness plenty of fouls and breakaways through the defences of both teams. It is exciting.

Having now played your gameplay for around 25-30 matches in the last two days I have some further constructive criticism.

1) The CPU is too fast , ie. the have too hefty an advantage speed wise. When top players are getting closed out too easily due to the inaccurate speed differential, including going the other way as well, its unrealistic.

2) User player get knocked off the ball too easily.

3) The CPU too often uses the two defender on one user player defensive combo, even in the offensive zone (though I'm unsure if this is tweak-able)

4) The ball might go too far out in front when sprinting w/kicking the ball ahead...ie. the first touch is useless many times because the ball goes too far from the player.

5) Normal passes don't have enough pace and through balls might have a little too much.

6) In terms of the passing and speed factors I think the original gameplay was better or at least closer to more realism.

7) this is not necessarily having to do with NK but is a product of using Rinaldos animations patch. Sometimes the players take too many touches and with the too fast aggressive closing out the ball is stripped off players, especially the strikers just past midfield, way too much (even when trying to use the shielding feature)

Pros- I like the fact that crosses are harder to get to the players, equaling less headed goals. I like the fact the CPU seems more aggressive offensively as do the quality keepers. I think there will always be the problem of sometimes the keeper not coming out when the ball is ripe for the taking but that is an EA flaw.

Shots seem pretty accurate in terms of realism. Having watched oodles of football lots of shots blaze over the net or wide of the net. With this gameplay a lighter moire careful touch on the shoot button is required as well as shooting with quality players. This is good.

I don't think the fouls thing is a product of the gameplay but of the individulals STYLE of play. If you don't try to build up and get a better chance at goal through passing it around, and instead just whip it down the sideline and cross it in all the time, you won't get fouled too often. Work it around, use the pace control and shielding, and you get fouls and free kicks aplenty.

I agree with ExerSlow about fouls: I play often with a more rational style of play, without first-touch passes and when I'm shielding the ball I receive a lot of fouls from CPU. Would be interesting anyway to make that some of the pressing will be judged as fouls by the referee, but I don't think that this is possible. Another thing to improve is the speed difference when you try to run away: it's actually impossible to do more than 10 meters running leaving the defender behind.

Comparing NK's gameplay with Biggy's, the speed is the real apparent issue, that and secondly the CPU defending/closing out...which is speed related to some degree.

NK must've turned w-a-a-a-y down the user's speed, because the difference between NK and Biggy is dramatic. Not only can't the players run away in NKs, they can't even runvery fast period.

speed should be dependent on player values. Balancing that with the number of breakaways is what the problem is.

It's not enough to put DO_CPU_SUB = 1 as you did in your last release, you need CPU_SUB = 3 to make the AI do the subs during the match.

No no they definately did make subs before without that variable, but i have added CPU_SUB in since I started work on my 4th update.

But if the AI does the subs without this variable why do you add it?

I think it was in the ini file for the Euro game. Plus everyone said 'add it in', I for one haven't noticed a big difference as of yet, they seemed to do subs before I added this line in...but a few users do go through the files and feedback on certain variables and some peeps were telling me of this Sub variable so I decided why not!

Keeps em' happy eh?

Nick I just had the funnest Fifa game ever! I was Charlton, 3rd game of the season against Chelsea. We started off even and by the first half I'd had more than half of the possession. Not long after the start of the 2nd half Crespo scored a magnificent goal from Lampard's cross. I looked sure to lose all three points. Then in the 89th minute, Darren Bent fended off a tackle from John Terry and managed to slip one by Petr Chech to tie the game up!

Great patch Nick. One thing that still bugs me is the goalies, but I'm pretty sure no amount of patching can fix them. EA really messed up there.

Great feedback man, thanks! I have worked on the goalkeepers a lot and they are perfectly balanced. I am still tuning the ball physics so keep an eye out! The game-pace is slower now so the matches aren't as fast, but the defence is also improved, but breakaways are much, much more possible. It is much more fun :)

Not here you don't. Ever since I added DO_CPU_SUB=1 to my USER.INI I've been seeing the computer controlled teams making substitutions
