I ask to myself how you all can obtain these results: I mean, I'm really not able to play a single match against a team strong as my team or better without having to win with a large domination.

The first consideration I have to do is that camera settings alter the difficulty of the game: the following test has been done with the beta of the v6, difficulty world class: I was playing with a very wide camera, with a Sensible-soccer style of view, as in the following screen:

With these settings, that I really liked, the game is much more linear and various BUT (very sadly), much more easy: but much much more. To show this, this is the first match I've played with my team of 2. Bundesliga league, Unterhaching.

I played against FC Koln, that is supposed to be on the beast team of the division, being relegated during the first year of the career: I absolutely dominated the match, having a team of 2 and 1/2 stars against a 4 stars team:

I was a little disappointed for the result so I thought that the camera setting maybe was a problem, so I switched back to a more classic TV camera: next match was against Karlsruhe, rated as Unterhaching. I dominated again with great disappoint:

Thinking that maybe Karlsruhe was just a bad team and that I had a good performance I kept playing with these settings. Next match was against Greuther Furth, and I finally I did not win:

but as is shown by the statistics I dominated again. Anyway the CPU shown a good defence on the overall.

Next match was again a draw, with Alemannia Achen, in the German league cup: the number of my shots was the double of the shots of Alemannia; I lose the match at penalties. Goalkeepers shown that they are still not balanced in the gameplay beta: need to be tweaked down a bit.

Next match against Ahlen, again a draw, 0-0 (thanks to gks too strong), but again the number of shots and action was absolutely for me:

So in conclusion, while I'm keeping playing my career, is that I'm very sad without being able to find an hard and competitive level of difficulty: I'd like to play matches in which I have to defend against teams that are rated as my team.

About the beta, it's good indeed, the problem is the same of always: CPU defends well, but it's not able to organize a good attacking style; it's yet too easy to anticipate CPU and this is the main limitation. Anyway the goalkeepers are too strong actually, but I think that NK knows this. I really hope to see some improvements (I don't how frankly) that make the CPU plays better.

EDIT: at legendary settings the things did not change in any sensible way, another 0-0 almost dominated by me:

thanks for the feedback Ockham, this is what beta testing is all about! :) the shooting/keeper tuning has already been tweaked and improved. The results I show in my matches are of a newer beta than the 2nd one released :)

Keep up the testing, everything will be tuned and balanced to the best of this design.

EDIT: It is also evident that not every update will be challenging enough for some people, and please everyone. Although with V6 i will most definately try!
EDIT2: And indeed Ockham I am very aware of the high GK skill. This is something that is being tuned and balanced right now. GK's will be highly skilled but beaten more realistically due to reactions, which will hopefully represent a more 'life-like' style. More news on this soon.

Ockham I wish to ask you, what is your playing style? Do you break the defence constantly, or do you take pot-luck shots from further out hoping to score? Perhaps a combo of both? I ask because although it seems your defending is obviously of a very good stanard, I wonder just how you attack the cpu so perhaps I can work something that will counter your style of play.

Oh and the CPU now change tactics more, so if they become more predictable they will change and try new ways of attacking.

Thanks,
NK.

The main feature of "my game style" is a lot of contrast in the midfield and many passes between the midfielders, horizontally and on back to free a player on the wings. The problems I found mainly in Fifa 06 actually are:

- too easy to anticipate the CPU on a pass: it's too easy to contrast and catch the ball.
- the CPU is not able to build a decent attacking action: too many unuseful dribbling going back, many wrong long balls horizontally on the wings, too few crosses in the middle of the box, too few useful passes.

My short review your last GPU:

- CPU attack keeps improving... that's noticeable and i praise you for that... :)
- The defence is also a bit better... but i really don't think it's exaggerated by any means... i still think it should be even tighter, and the closedown speed and that kind of stuff should be raised...

By in general, now that i got more used to your GPU, i'm finding it a bit easy to dominate the CPU (but not a total domination, like it happened with previous patches, of course!)...

One other thing i noticed, is that a team like Real Madrid underperforms against me, comparing to the likes of Spurs for instance... i played my second game against Spurs and i lacked concentration at some stages of the game, and they punished me with 2-goals and an awesome performance... i really enjoyed playing against them... so next game (i always play with Juve), i picked Real as my oponent... but i was very disapointed with their performance... i won 1-0 that game, without any trouble at all... dominated them for the whole 90 minutes...

My suggestions remains: more agressivity to CPU, both in attack and defence... :)

Thank you for the feedback bud, like I keep saying this is what testing is all about! I will work on the CPU attack and defence :)

Yo NK I think I found a solution for the CPU style of playing: I noticed how much the CPU tried to do a lot of unuseful dribblings on defence and on midfields with a lacking of long balls and throughpass, so, keeping using your beta v6 legendary difficulty, with gk turned down to 95, I modified the default.ini as I wrote you by PM right now.

And finally the CPU plays decently and in a realistic aggressive way! Look at the matches I played with these settings:

I hope these indications can be useful.

And I managed to have decent matches with my favourite camera too :D

Very nice Ockham! I am glad you have found a variation in my design to accustom your playing style, I will read your PM now and have a chat about your findings in there. Your input into this beta will be appreciated :)

Thanks,
NK.

A small glitch that could be fixed: the CPU does too many wrong long balls (through-vertical and horizontal): maybe this is related to some gravity/physics settings? Or maybe to max distance settings of long balls and through balls? I'll check, see if you notice the same.

I've found some other minors changements that improved again the excellent results I'm obtaining with this beta: two drawn matches, two victories and two loose. I'll pm the small changements by pm; I'm gathering screens of the statistics at the end of matches.

Thank you Ockham for your PM, the changes you have shown me have already changed since the beta released as I am aware of this.

:)

I'll keep you guys updated.

Hey Ockham, can I get a hold of those settings changes as well that have provided you with your best results to date?

I lost my first game ever in Legendary, United(1) V Real Madrid(2). This was using NK v6 beta 2.0. I played three games against them.

It looked like a draw but a bad back pass by me was intercepted by Ronaldo and converted into the far corner.

I won the first game 2-1 after we entered extra time 0-0. A deflected bicycle kick by Van Nistelrooy was turned into the Madrid net by Gravesen. Then Ronaldo levelled with a mid-box header. A free kick late on from Cristiano Ronaldo was initially saved by Casillas before substitute frendch hitman Louis Saha converted the rebound with a diving header.

The second game I lost with Ronaldo's intercepted back pass.

The third game rubber match I won 3-1, when I took a 2-0 through two glroious Rooney strikes, one on a through ball that I one-timed in from just outside the box and anotehr that was a carbon copy of the real goal Rooney scored against Arsenal a couple weeks back, corralled a sharp cross, and took it down and scored in one motion. Ronaldo pulled back a goal on a rebound before Lious Saha had a tap in off a rebound at the death.

Really liking this gameplay. Those are the only matches I've been able to play in the alst two days.

Dave

Dave

The changes Ockham has made are changes that are already evident in my latest beta. I am not sure whether a new beta will be released. A release date will be confirmed soon.

Instead of handing out edits of the 2.0 beta, please send feedback on the beta I send out to keep feedback correct :)

Well, with the last modifications I PMed to you, Nk, I think there is a good balancing of the gp; of course the number of shots is always better for the human player, playing with minor and medium teams, but I think this can't be eliminated and maybe stronger modifications to parameters will false the proper equilibrium of the game. Look at the excellent and realistic results I've got with these new settings in my career in 2.Bundesliga:

Wonderful :lui:

Those results are similar to the ones I get with my latest efforts without any mods :) I have a few testers and I got e-mails regarding certain area's of gameplay and what users would like after V5 was out. I'd like to think the CPU is better at attacking now than what they are capable of in my beta 2 with mods because I've made progress :)

So the modifications Ocham made are already included in beta 2?

I think that this is playing the most realistically right now. The User will almost always have more shots because we shoot without discretion, from odd angles often (at least I do) and the CPU doesn't do this.

The defence is tight but not fake. I wonder what Luis Ah-Hoy wants when he says make it tighter...hey Luis, are you scoring 5,6,7 goals a game?

I thought the defence was unrealistic at one point due to the closedown speed and perfect close-outs...its a lot better now and you fixed the keepers punts etc. Best work to date. Speed is great as well. There seems to be times of slow and fast...like real football.
