Yep...V6 BETA plays alot better than your V5, which to my opinion wasn't up to your usual snuff.

I think that the attacking of the CPU is better and the defense is really tight. In some instances too tight I fear (on legendary anyway) and should have some of the CPU error rates turned up and closedown error turned up (less perfect closeouts) so as to provide more realistic variable play. CPU does attack pretty well though, a bit better than Biggy 2.6 and even better thna the alterations I made on my own to 2.6.

I have tuned the Beta up for myself even more with some of the above suggestions, including the attack, and will report back.

Good work though, very good.

I am so glad that Fifa 06 gameplay is being improved, but i'm afraid that for most of the people who still plays with PS2 keyboards like me, this gameplay patches are useless, most of it because PS2 keyboards can't turn in a proper 360 degrees range like gamepads do, Anyway I really appreciate all the effort and research that all of you have put into this.

ExerSlow, if you want a less tighter CPU defence, just lower the difficulty level to WC... i don't think Legendary is too difficulty... i was actually suggesting NK to make the defence even tighter, and improve the attack (in Legendary)... Legendary is difficult, yes... but as the name says, it should be a very very difficult mode... :)

I'm actually working on making the game harder haha! I believe FIFA 06 will be very difficult to beat on legendary, something that is important to keep the gameplay alive, as it will force gamers to use a lower difficulty and work their way back up, just like when they first bought the game.

Without the difficulty of the update, it won't be no where near as good. Everyone was saying how easy V5 was so I'm kinda creating something VERY challenging to beat with V6.

New Beta.

NEW V6 BETA RELEASED:

CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD NEW V6 BETA <B> Registration Code Required</B>

All those who have already tested the update and given me feedback need not ask for the code, it will be sent to you asap along with the link. ALL CHECK YOUR PM'S!

THINGS TO LOOK OUT FOR;

- Goalkeepers may be too good at this stage, that's something to test :)
- Defence and attack of CPU
- ball physics

I am still tuning all these areas of play, but this beta is still early but further into development, which is all making progress :) Never take any negative gameplay as 'backtracking', it will only enable the update to go forward and make progress :) E.G the difference between V5 FULL and V6-BETA ;)

Thanks,
NK.

I agree that the v6 version is a great improvement on the past versions. I played two games (all i could do sorry :) ) and lost one, drew one. It was ok though because the CPU played like real, and i played crap. My defending was awful and the CPU took advantage. I cried a little cry (or not) and then tried to adapt to the new CPU. I did, up to the point of a draw however ;).
All in all good update. This one's got potential :D
Cheers

To Luis:

I think you misunderstood what I meant when I said that legendary might be too tight. Its not that I can't score (I've yet to lose a game on this V6 beta gameplay) but its unrealistic in the way the CPU closes out so perfectly fast. Sure it makes it hard, but its not like real football. If all we wanted was just the hardest gameplay, we could have that and tune things to always be 0-0.

I turned up the attack on my own though and the CPU is playing very well. I don't think the defence can get mich tighter without further ruining the realism, though I may be wrong. If they sit back even further and doubole-team less perhaps it will be harder to break them.

To NK: I think the Keeper punts are a bit screwy. They can't go far enough IMO.

I'm going to go test the latest beta.

Thanks for the extra feedback Dave, this is what the beta is ALL about, testing, testing, testing. If you notice the CPU defence acting a bit unrealistically, tell me and I'll sort it out and try and make it challenging, yet keep it realistic as I can without taking away the challenge.

Ok, I will now focus on the defending :)

Thanks Dave,
NK.

You might have already doine the trick.....I dunno. I just played two games (all I have time for right now) United v FC Porto and the first game especially was probably the most entertaining game I've ever had in FIFA06.

The defence was very tight but didn't seem as quasi-cheating as before (not sure if you changed that or something else that had this effect). The CPU attacked me visciously!! I went down 2-0 in the first half. I can't remember the last time I went down like that!

Thje goals they scored were brilliant. The first was a cross-field lob to the far winger who surged into my pernalty area, controlled down the ball and then unleashed a blast past Van Der Sar into the opposite corner. I was thinking..where did he come from?

Then they were really dominating me and throwing crosses in when their midlfielder stabbed a header over Van Der Sar from the top of the box between two of my defenders!!! I was like.....OH NO! I shouldn't have said on SoccerGaming that I hadn't lost with the new Beta V6 gameplay yet!! HAHAHA...Karma!

So I buckled down and started to play a little smarter. Usually I'll concede a goal on the first game I play of FIFA every day since I seem to forget how hard some of these gameplays are and what it takes to win.

So I began methodically working it around and moving people up into their end of the field. I began to assert myself right before halftime but I made a hash of a few half-chances.

I came out determined in the second half. I made a substitution of Ji-Sung Park for Richardson (who was horrible losing possession that led to the second Porto goal). Park's darting around started to open up things and a 1-2-3 with Park and Scholes saw the ball end up in the path of Van Nistelroy, who took control while fighting off a defender. Ruud was hauled down just outside the box for a free-kick.

Cristiano Ronaldo measured and then curled a low dipping shot past Vitor Baia to open Uniteds account and cut the lead in half.

I smelled blood now and I started tackling hard, taking a yellow or two. Porto had a chance ring wide of the far post of what surely should have been 3-1.

I started to press them and changed my tatics a bit. The ball was swept away from Rooney that resulted in a corner. Ronaldo lofted a excellent kick to the far side of the box where the diminuitive Patrice Evra teased a floating header over Baia for Evra's first goal for United!! We're level.

The play was furious for the last 10 minutes, a couple shots either way, a post or two. Then after regaining posession in midfield Van Nistelrooy flicked to Ronaldo whose one-touch laser released Rooney down the middle one-on-one with Baia. I slowed, measured, and raked one low-left past the diving Baia only to have it ricochet off the post and come out.

A defender darted in front of Van Nistelrooy to swwep it back to Baia, who attaempted to clear, but it glanced off another defender, falling to Paul Scholes just outside the box where he chested it Giggs. Giggs drove a looping pass back to Park on the wing, who controlled and danced away from a sliding tackle then............

Thers also a second replay that shows the first goal I scored in the second game, a little more boring 2-0 win for me. The shots for both teams were real low 3/2 for them and 5/3 for me. A Porto player was red-carded, which allowed me to coast home with the win.

I'd really like to test this new version: what I have to do? And I'd like to know with which intensty settings are you playing. Actually I'm playing v3 because it's the harder version I found until now (legendary leve), but still the best that I can obtain is an excellent CPU defence and a medium skilled attacking style, almost always my shots are the double of CPU (all games are between teams with same skill level).

Excellent feedback Dave!! I loved reading that it was great. thanks. :)

I will take a look at your replay later on, I have been rehearsing since 6:00 for a musical (i'm an actor/singer). So anyway, I'm glad you enjoyed this beta so far, I can only say it'll get better and make progress, probably slow progress, but there are parts to be tuned and tweaked. :)

Thanks again,

NK.

Thanks, I'm going testing. Which intensity settings have to be used for this gameplay? Which ones are you using actually?

nickclubman

Starting XI
it doesn't come with any modified intensity mate, try it with the original EA ones for now;

1 0 1 0 0 0 0
1 1 2 1 1 0 0
3 3 2 2 1 0 0
2 2 2 3 2 2 2
2 1 2 2 2 3 3
2 1 2 3 3 3 3
2 2 3 3 2 2 2
0 1 1 2 1 1 1
0 1 1 1 0 0 0

I am working on new intensity, it is in testing and I have just played a match using my latest efforts, with new intensity, all early dev. here are results against a 16 min world class Real Madrid. their goals were brilliant! The defending was top class and the attacking was pure pressure, as you can see I managed 3 crappy little shots on goal, sure all on target but no power or anything, my players' were always trying to fight off the defence, I needed to play smarter but I couldn't because they completely out-played me. results below.

Please, test with medium rated teams too, because the gameplay seems very different in results with 3 or 4 stars teams.
