Official Election 2004 Results

Today is the big day in the United States.

I have already cast my votes and hopefully all of you who are of age on these boards do as well.

I still say Bush will win, but it might not be tonight. There is already a story about thousands of planted votes already on machines coming out of Pennsylvania... fraud will be rampant today.

Have at it.

Very unofficial ones will start coming out as soon as the East-coast polls close, and they will update them as the night goes on. I'm not looking forward to another six weeks of election coverage. I'm just sick of it all. I want it over with.

I think this one might go on for even longer than in 2000. Whoever looses will want investigation, contact lawyers god knows what.

I think Bush will win in the end, unfortunately:(

Kerry has already sent hoards of lawyers down to Florida. He is also on record as saying he won't concede the election if he loses a close one either. You can count on this one going for awhile if it's close... ******* politicians.

Looks like I'm the only one who's looking forward to it...I'll be up all night watching feeds from CNN on Swedish TV..I hope they don't dub it.

How does it actually work in the US? Do all the polls open at the same time across the different time zones or do they all open at 9:00 am or whatever in their own timezones?

I am pretty sure Bush will win. I think he would have won anyway, but I think the fact that Nader is going gung-ho will seal it, still pretty close, but not close enough for much debate. The democrats had a real chance to take the White House back, but they blew it by putting forward such a nothing candidate. If only it had been McCain vs Edwards rather than Bush vs Kerry, you would be guaranteed a decent leader rather than a fool.

Different states open the polls at different times. Even some states, such as Florida, who have two time zones, open and close at different times. That was a controversy in 2000 when the news networks called Florida for Gore, but the polls in western Florida had not even closed yet! They are an hour behind.

The polls here in Georgia go from 7am to 7pm. Out west in Oregon I don't think they even go to the polls, it's all mail in or something.

I believe polls open at 6:30 am, respective to the time zone. The West coast polls close at 10:00 Eastern Time, meaning results from California are the last important ones to come in.

Oh right, thanx. I remember now, there was a lot of controversy about this because people in one timezones were hearing results from others before they even went to vote, and many didnt even bother after thinking all was already won or lost.

Ohio is the key state this time I believe, no republican has ever been elected without winning Ohio before and it's a major swing state this time round. I believe the local Ohio opinion polls have put Bush in the lead, but it's supposed to be very close. When will the first exit-polls start being released?

EDIT: Who did you vote for, Elder? :brow:

I voted write in for Nader. I didn't know much of anything about the Libertarian candidate this year so I didn't feel comfortable voting for him. I disagree on just about everything Nader stands for, but the fact that his name wasn't even on the Georgia ballot pissed me off. So I threw a vote to the third party in hopes that it will bolster their chances to be heard in future elections. I highly doubt it.

I also voted Johnny Issakson for Senate, as he is a stand up guy and I see him at the local grocery store every so often.

All the other races were a joke as most people ran unapposed, so I didn't vote for those races.

We had a "Ban Gay Marriage" amendment, and I voted NO.

That's it.

Here are the latest polls.

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/polls.html

I think Bush has a chance to run away with this election. I have been hearing about certain local polls like callumn talking about where Bush is way up. Ohio and Florida were two of those places.

Democratic Senator and total jerkwad Tom Daschle looks set to lose his 20+ career today in South Dakota.

Callumn, the exit polls will start coming in right when the polls begin to close. I'd say around midnight your time. The news organizations got in a lot of trouble for predicting the wrong things last time, so they might lay off them this time... we will see though. If Bush wins by a clear majority, we will know the results by midnight or so.
