Official Election 2004 Results

Am I seeing things!?! Fox putting Kerry in the lead! Oh well, from that it certainly looks pretty comfortable for Bush at the moment, as I predicted. If Bush wins Ohio and Florida, I'd say it's pretty much a dead cert, and it now looks likely that he will. Hopefully this will encourage the democrats to put out a decent candidate next time. I'm pleased to see Nader doing better than I expected, some stations give him 2%. A major contributing factor to Bush looking dominate I expect.

Thanx for the link and info btw (Y)

I am pretty sure Kerry will win just like Gore won in 2000. But I have no idea how it's going to go down in Florida, that's a regime that needs changing. It's so crooked down there, it's like a banana republic. I guess that's what you get when you have a governor whose idol is Batista.

Yeah, all of you who diss Ohio, now who's the important state? (H)

OHIO > All other states.

That whole 'Gore really won' argument is so damn stupid. Even Michael Moore doesnt go into it with any real conviction, you can tell he's just fantasising. I'm sure a lot of dirty tricks go on in Florida, the blocking of anyone connected with convicted fellons (hence large numbers of black people), the allowing of overseas voters to vote late, may all have some truth but claiming that the only reason Bush was declared the winner because Fox (under instruction from Jeb Bush) said so and the others followed suit is totally unfounded and wrong.

For Kerry to win he has to:
- win Florida + Wisconsin/lose Ohio
- win Ohio+NH

Otherwise, Bush wins.

Agreed. All the networks called Florida for Gore than for Bush. During the night, everybody called it too close to call but only Fox sticked with it.

I dont want to gloat but, here in Brazil we know the results of any election in the same day. I mean, why do you people vote in piece of papers? We vote on electronic stuff, you just type the number of the candidate you want to win and that's it.

Lack of practicity. Anyway, i think Bush will win. Both of them suck though.

I reckon Bush will win. Personally, though, I'm pissed off with all the coverage it's getting. Every time you turn the TV on there seems to be something about the elections on.:kader:

Oh I don't think people say FOX calling the election for Bush (largely thanks to Bush's cousin, don't forget) was the "only reason" Bush was declared the winner. Rather, that premature call is used as evidence of FOX's right-wing agenda: the network and Bush's cousin called the election for Bush to create the false impression that Bush was definitely the winner, and that any recounts were illegtimate and any recounts which tilted the balance towards Gore were suspicious. Certainly, the cause of Bush being called the winner in Florida was the fact that his brother, the governor, and his Florida campaign manager, the Secretary of State, conspired to disenfranchise black voters and count illegal overseas ballots. The FOX issue is largely seperate.

Well... I don't know if you ever worked in the elections but if you did you know how many votes people just throw away for not knowing how to operate the "electronic stuff" properly.... sure it's easy and in a few years time everyone will know how to vote but still...
also candidates here have numbers for a long time while they don't have numbers for candidates in the US... and don't forget there's not just the presidential election, there are a few ammendments and they differ from state to state...

An early cut of the exit polls conducted by CBS shows Sen. John Kerry ahead as a heavy turnout of voters head to the polls in the presidential election.

According to the exit polls, Kerry is up by 4 in Florida, Michigan and Ohio and is up by as much as 6 in Wisconsin.

By far the largest lead for Kerry is in New Hampshire, where the polls show him leading by 18. President Bush, however, is up by 10 in Arkansas and 2 in Colorado.

Iowa shows Kerry and President Bush neck-and-neck.

Check The Sun Herald for more updates throughout the day.

Found this in another forum. Apparently these are leaked numbers .

That's interesting, because I have heard the trend is for exit polls to favor Democrats more and more as the day goes on, because Democrats tend to vote later in the day.

Good news. I did my part at 8:30 this morning, time to sit and wait.

Vince, those are 2 P.M. exit polls and I got the same numbers in my mailbox.

You should take these with a grain of salt because a) these are results from before 2 p.m b) exit polls are unreliable and can be wrong often. During the 2002 mid-terms it threw everybody off. So please don't get your hopes up.

Somebody send me 4 P.M. exit polls and I can't say if they're authentic or accurate.

Tied in Florida and Ohio, Kerry up in Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan.

Again, don't put much faith in these.

Florida and Ohio are the key states.

There is already a story about thousands of planted votes already on machines coming out of Pennsylvania... fraud will be rampant today.

Interesting you posted that, because it was yet another fake Drudge story. Here's the real deal from AP:

http://www.nbc10.com/politics/3884073/detail.html

Republican observers in Philadelphia lodged some of the earliest complaints, claiming that voting machines in the city already had thousands of votes recorded on them when the polls opened at 7 a.m. The city investigated and found that the numbers were from a device that counted how many votes had ever been recorded on the machine, not how many would be cast Tuesday.

So Republicans operatives are either trying to disenfranchise voters in Philly, or they can't read. Your pick. Unsurprisingly, this Drudge concoction is still being repeated on his site and has now made its way to FOX. It's the usual pattern: Drudge invents, FOX/Washington Times recite, Elder falls for it.

Exit polls don't mean anything, because people lie all the time. If Kerry carries 2 of Ohio, Penn, and Florida and also my homestate of Wisconsin, then it's his election. If he gets hammered in the Midwest it's possible the election could come down to Hawaii.

There's also a possibility that the election could go to the House, check slate.com for that possibility.

Still nothing surprising at this moment. Penn, Ohio, and Florida are the biggies.
