You can cross of Chávez, Zavala off the possible WC roster. I'd say the same for Maza, Topo, and Muñoz but being that Piojo has a lot of faith in them they still have a chance.
Marquez, Layún, and Jiménez with the best performances. Jiménez was the real spark plug that ignited Mexico's 2nd half and enabled us to tie the game. He has definitely come alive in the past week with the goal against Chivas and today's game where he was just awesome creating goal opportunities whether it was trapping long balls, dribbling past opponents, striking headers or causing corners. He was a one-man wrecking crew.
Montes was good, very lively on the ball. Fabian was ok, the same with Pulido. 'Gullit' Peña and Brizuela were a little disappointing but they're easily two of the best in the league so I'll cut them a break because they're playing in two competitions and are probably a little fatigued. Paul Aguilar surprised me, I don't rate him much but he played well today...most likely the starting RWB for the WC.
We have to fix those mistakes on set pieces, that was just awful...and we can't start the game half asleep and give away and entire half.
I'd say the 2-2 score is pretty fair considering how terrible we played in the first half. Quite possibly the worst performance in a half since Piojo took over but the second half was a real doozy.
We need 'Chaton' Enriquez badly in that defensive midfield role...too bad he's injured for the umpteenth time yet again. If only he could just stay healthy...
I really hope Jonathan makes it back in time to be considered for the WC. Chaton & Jona is what this team's midfield needs.
Herrera, Gullit, Chaton and Jona...now that's a pretty damn good midfield to fill out your WC roster.
