He plays along side someone else but part of the problem is that he doesn't link up well with anyone. Oribe Peralta was the one he sort of did connect with, but by then it seemed like his confidence was shot and made mistake after mistake. I honestly don't even think he should be a starter... he's more dangerous as a sub.

Seeing all the advertisements for the WC here in Mexico for the NT, I can only imagine how many of the big companies had a hard on when the U.S scored that goal that help Mexico reach the WC.

Word. The NT blows but boy do they do a good job of cashing in on them.

I think Chicha will most likely leave Man. in the summer, it will be the best for his career and our NT. His first two years under Ferguson were very productive considering he came off the bench many a times, but it seems like Moyes has zero faith in him. It's time for him to move on and be a full time starter somewhere else, Italy or Spain have always been rumored to be his next stop.

How awful is 'Topo' Valenzuela? To start, he's never been a NT-caliber player. This season with America he's had some of the dumbest mistakes I've ever seen, and the fact that Piojo considers him for the NT is still a complete quandary to me.

The defense needs the biggest focus come Brazil. Moreno is only descent defender but the rest...

Maza blows. Rafa is so damn slow. Reyes isn't having the minutes he needs to perform well in a competition like the WC.

I was optimistic for the NT months back, but as we get closer and closer to the big dance I think this might be the WC where we don't get out of the group stage...I sure do hope Piojo proves me wrong though.

Rogelio Chávez's one and only chace to show what he's got. I don't think Topo, Zavala nor Maza should make the WC squad but this will be a good test. Fabián will have to prove that his recent league performances are worthy of a WC roster spot. The rest are locks IMO.

I most definitely want to see my boy Raúl Jiménez play some minutes to show Piojo he's worthy of a back-up striker role.

A must win against our archrival.

You can cross of Chávez, Zavala off the possible WC roster. I'd say the same for Maza, Topo, and Muñoz but being that Piojo has a lot of faith in them they still have a chance.

Marquez, Layún, and Jiménez with the best performances. Jiménez was the real spark plug that ignited Mexico's 2nd half and enabled us to tie the game. He has definitely come alive in the past week with the goal against Chivas and today's game where he was just awesome creating goal opportunities whether it was trapping long balls, dribbling past opponents, striking headers or causing corners. He was a one-man wrecking crew.

Montes was good, very lively on the ball. Fabian was ok, the same with Pulido. 'Gullit' Peña and Brizuela were a little disappointing but they're easily two of the best in the league so I'll cut them a break because they're playing in two competitions and are probably a little fatigued. Paul Aguilar surprised me, I don't rate him much but he played well today...most likely the starting RWB for the WC.

We have to fix those mistakes on set pieces, that was just awful...and we can't start the game half asleep and give away and entire half.

I'd say the 2-2 score is pretty fair considering how terrible we played in the first half. Quite possibly the worst performance in a half since Piojo took over but the second half was a real doozy.

We need 'Chaton' Enriquez badly in that defensive midfield role...too bad he's injured for the umpteenth time yet again. If only he could just stay healthy...

I really hope Jonathan makes it back in time to be considered for the WC. Chaton & Jona is what this team's midfield needs.

Herrera, Gullit, Chaton and Jona...now that's a pretty damn good midfield to fill out your WC roster.

seeing as chavez can't be paul aguilars substitute at RB. I think el Piojo should consider taking another veteran in Carlos Salcido, he can certainly play as RB, LB or even CM. he would be a great option to have in the bench in case of any red cards or injuries in the world cup.

although very unlikely this will happen, pretty sure Piojo will just end up taking Enrique Perez from atlas.

also agree Zavala lost his chance to make the world cup squad. Chaton would be a good option but Piojo hasn't even called him up and regarding Jonathan you can pretty much scratch him from the list, hell even Giovani might not have a shot at the world cup with all his injuries.

Oh god no. Salcido is a cancer and much worse than Chavez at this point. He doesn't even play as a LB for Tigres...

At least Chavez can recover with speed after getting caught out of position. Can't say the same about Salcido. May he never play another minute for the NT ever again.

Starting XI
I wanted to say the same thing about Salcido earlier on, but i didn't bother because it's so obvious. The guy was OK during the 2010 World Cup in South Africa, i believe i've said it before as well. After that everytime i've seen him playing he's just been so bad making me wonder what on earth is he doing in the national team, let alone starting.

The guy shouldn't be anywhere near the team that is going to Brazil. Cancer is a perfect word for him.

Salcido? Nah, there are better options at RB. Enrique Perez will likely be the back up because of his versatility to play RB and RCB in a line of 3.

José Abella of Santos is a better option than Chávez. Still very young, but has been the unquestioned starter for Santos in the league and has had really good games in Libertadores. He scored a nice goal against mighty Peñarol in Montevideo to close out the game 2 nil a few weeks back. His lack of experience hurts his chances for a call up but if anything goes wrong with either Aguilar or Perez, Piojo should give this kid a serious look.

Hiram Mier was the solid candidate over all these guys before he got injured. A natural CB able to play RB. He should be back within the next few weeks but who knows how fast he regains his form in time to get call up again.

Mier's injury really hurts here because he was one of the very few bright spots out of the Confeds. He looked really comfortable at RB and could actually offer something in attack as opposed to Severo Meza.

So your best player really isn't playing in the biggest tournament in the sport? Why's that again? And whatever it is, how has it not been solved in all this time?
