Imagine Pogrebnjak wouldnt be injured...what an offense :)
Russia might be the team of the future.
We have to play them at the World-Cup-Qualifiers :browsmiley:

Well, Arshavin isn't getting any younger. The techinque will still be there, but a 30 year-old Arshavin won't make the kind of runs he did for 120 minutes.

Still, you have a point, but it all depends on Hiddink staying or not.

Its not just Arshavin, hes outstanding of course. But there are many other young really good players. Like this Zhirkov guy at the left defense, i believe.
And the stamina of the whole team is just out of this world. Lets just hope, they didnt discover an un-detectable style of doping :) just kidding.(Y)

100 % agree. How come doesn't any big european club get this guy !! He's a genius (H)

Because he gets a sh*tload of money from the Russian football association? :P

Anyways, all my respect to Hiddink. First South Korea, then Australia and now Russia. What a guy. I definitely want Russia to win this championship now simply because they have played the best football so far. Of course they are a big surprise so far but they're not anywhere the Greek team from Euro 2004. Greece were a boring team with a good defence and tons of luck but Russia have played the best football I've seen from a national team in years.

Coz nobody can pay how much Russia is paying for him :)

I heard he earns a 2,5 million Euros a year officially. Not that much :)
I doubt, Zenit will be able to keep him after this tournament.

Great performance by Russia. The combo of their skill, pace, work ethisc and Hddinks tactics could push them to the final. If they meet us (Spain) in the semis, itll be completely different from that first game where we won 4-1. Completely different. OK, now tomorrows game. As atrue Spanish masochist, Ill be watching our loss. I predict Italy to win with either a questionable pk, a non call in their favor, a lucky bounce or Jesus Christ playing goalie for them.

Anybody remembered the Kolodin incident? He booked the player and then he consulted the assistant on the far side. The ref rescinded the card immediately after that. Top ref that bloke.

I don't mean to repeat what everyone has said that football was just unreal.
From Arshavin to Zherkoff to Pavlyuchenko every player played out of their skin. I'd be really surprised if any team could stop them when they play like that. This is what Croatia were supposed to do.

I'm mad though because in my prediction league I picked Russia and changed it to the Netherlands at the last minute. I should have never gone against the genius Hiddink!

Help?

Russia is playing like computer.

I think this pretty much sums up the russian performance. I have never seen anybody run like that for 2 straight hours. No, let me say that again. I HAVE NEVER SEEN ANYBODY RUN LIKE THAT FOR 2 STRAIGHT HOURS. These guys were fighting their heart out, they were challenging every single ball and sprinting every single attack. What contrast of what i saw in the Greece game and in Holland game, unbelievable. Arshavin is bound to be picked up by some team and i think Arsenal would be the perfect choice for him. As long as its not Italy actually, he'll be good.

The Dutch on the other hand were just abysmal today. No creativity, nothing. I guess the russian defense wasn't as slow as French or Italian to get back and close them down. They had absolutely no space and they looked very scared and shaky at the back. The forwards were just terrible. Long shots? Ok if the first 5 didn't work, isn't it time for something else? Isn't that what world class teams do at such a stage, when one approach doesn't work you try another? Don't get me wrong, Sneijder can shoot no doubt, but after you ****ed up 5 times, isn't it time to try and get that ball on the wing, do something from there, maybe make a cross into the box, afterall you do have the best poacher in the world playing for you. And what happened to Robben? Is he injuried or did he have a bust-up with Van Basten? Because there is no way Van Basten would have left him out of the squad just because he thought there were better players.

Where was Arjen Robben?

Well, I jumped on board the Dutch bandwagon(for the lower half of the draw anyways) after the Italian fly-swatting so this was dissapointing.....Robben would have given them that cutting edge which they severly lacked in this game.

Where was ARjen Robben? Injured? Suspended? Fight with MVB?
